oh for sure. i have quite a few mods myself, and a few more planned :D

example: OEM M3 mirrors are waiting for glass. i want to get the fancy Euro aspherical kind you recommended, but they are pricey, so the mirrors are patiently awaiting deployment until further notice heh.

58,208
- Dr Vanos kit installed
- New OEM VCG
- Spark Plugs (NGK6EQUP)

All work done by Bavarian Machine Specialties in Houston. I had originally wanted to DIY but the lack of garage space, time, and experience swayed me. John @ BMS cut me a labor discount of about $200 to make it financially doable.

Will post detailed feedback later, as I've only gotten to drive her a few miles since picking up. It's been raining here in Houston. I will say that my initial reaction is very, very positive :D

Next maintenance will be B pillar fix for the peeling fabric, Lamin-X clear protective film for the headlights, and windshield cowl for the fading/scratching that inevitably takes its toll. Major maintenance will be suspension and brakes but that's not needed for a while.

been a while since last update. well as always best laid plans haven't come to fruition (ie, M3 mirrors and B-Pillar/windshield cowl fix). my sunroof visor broke and my washer wiper fluid nozzles weren't working so, i had the pump and nozzles replaced. still haven't addressed the sunroof visor but the options are to either order a repair kit and hope that works or order a new cassette which as we all know is $$$. also my thermostat was leaking again after having it replaced preemptively. it was under warranty tho.

- Oil Change (BMW 5w30)
- Washer fluid pump and nozzles replaced.
- Thermostat replaced under warranty (used a Behr this time)

my shop also discovered a small leak in the OFHG. might explain why i got a yellow oil light a couple months ago. so now i have that to plan out...

long overdue update: had not really done anything to the car until about 6 weeks ago. hit a giant ass rock that fell off a truck and bent my pass-side front wheel pretty badly. bought a replacement wheel, and while the car was in the shop getting the wheel mounted and balanced, decided i should not put off some needed maintenance.

10/25/13
Mileage: 64,256
- Oil Change (BMW 5w30)
- Power Steering Fluid Flush. Replaced reservoir and internal filter as well.
- Hydraulic Fluid Flush (ATE Super Blue)
- Replace cracked intake boot to idle valve and cracked boot to MAF
- Perform Road Force wheel balancing on all 4 wheels.
- Replace right front wheel (Avante Garde M310 18x8)
- Perform 4-wheel thrust diagnostic alignment while vehicle is in laden position.

I had no idea the cracked boots were sapping air flow so much. Performance, especially off-idle, has improved significantly. Overall, it was a stiff $1,200 service, but the car needed it, and is driving much better now.

The car will need brakes and suspension next but that will have to wait for a while as I'm pretty strapped at the moment.

Mileage:66,727
- Oil Change (Mobil 1 10w30)

Also had the shop perform Trip check for driving approximately 1000 miles. Includes inspection and condition of all tires, spare (if equipped), all fluid condition and top offs, brake condition, belt condition, washers, wipers and lighting.

-Rear tires are worn down to low-tread indicators
-F&R brakes %95 worn. Light will come on soon.
-Oil leak from filter housing
-------------------------------------

brake job scheduled for Tues 5/27. Also having rear tires replaced. that pesky OFHG will get dealt with at some point this summer.

05-29-2014, 01:47 PM
05/29/14
Mileage: 67,816
- Replace front and rear brake pads, rotors, sensors (Genuine BMW Rotors, StopTech Pads)
- Perform hydraulic brake fluid flush (ATE TYP 200 racing fluid)
- Replace brake lines w/ stainless steel lines (Stop Tech)
- Replace both rear tires including Road Force balance on all wheels (Hankook Ventus V12 Evo2)
- Replace Oil Filter Housing Gasket
- Pressure wash oil/fluid/debris from engine compartment and underbody

car is running like a champ! aside from a few cosmetic issues (paint chips, scratches, front bumper scuffs) and a busted sunroof, the car feels brand new.

- Alignment and Road Force balance of all 4 wheels

Car feels sooo much better. Was quite the expensive service visit but it was needed. The old shocks were leaking fluid and producing a clunking sound. Also the steering feels so much tighter and more precise. Very happy with how she's driving now.

lol, didn't sell the car. i am an OCD person and have moved on from car mods to audiophile/stereo gear, but i still have the ZHP and have been taking good care of her.

she is top'd out for me as far as mods go, but i will continue to maintain her and will never sell her. just ordered a set of Michelin PSS's so i guess that may be considered a mod.

i do need to install the umnitza mtech bumper that's been sitting in my garage for two years (OE is rash'd) and also need to replace the passenger side B pillar, but for the most part i'm happy with how she's driving these days. for a daily, she still makes me happy. every time i heel toe into 2nd approaching a turn i'm reminded why we drive these cars versus a toyota. at this point i couldn't even justify selling her. the only thing that bugs me about being a bmw owner is i absolutely do not relate/connect with the brand on their newer models. anything post E92 is just meh/ugh to me. the E39/E46/E38 era of BMWs is the pinnacle of gasoline powered motoring IMO.
cheers guys.
