How do you remove this panel or is it required to be removed to gain access to the stock tail lights for removal/change to LEDs? I noticed that there are two nuts (maybe more) holding the tails. And in order to get inside, it looks like the panel needs to be removed. I did not see any thread on tail lights replacement and the trunk lid lights. Thanks.

i dont think you need to take that off, just the carpet piece around the side of the trunk. just pull the plastic clips and wiggle the carpeting out. im pretty sure changing the ones on the trunk lid require same, just pull carpet off.

No need to take off. Look into the corner. Should be some torx or hexies in there.

Boy, those place were tight getting into the hex nuts. Barely enough room. Scratches in the back of my hand even after peeling back as far as I can on the trunk lining. Rear lights done. Tomorrow, the Reverse on the trunk lid.

I am ordering new stock tail light gaskets. The gaskets that came with the Depo lights are so flimsy and does not match the contour of the lights. Some places are way too big and some way too small. The gaskets themselves are thin. They are mounted for now. The lights do bend to the contour of the car body. Do not know if this is the way it is intended...

I had the same issue with gaskets on my Eagle Eyes so I just took them out and used weather strip that I got from Home Depot. I cleaned the area on the car where the light would mount and placed the weather strip around so the the light would seat on it. So far no leaks or issues :thumbsup
