I saw it a while ago and can't find it for the life of me..

Thanks in advance!

If you want, we could meet up and I could do it for you for free. Plus other stuff the dealer can't do.

Really? I'm scheduled to drop my car off tomorrow at 8 in the morning.. what else could you do? Btw, I'm going through an independent mechanic, not the stealership.

Well I can't do anything for you tomorrow before 8 in the morning, but we can work something out. lol
Just to name a few of the things...

*Any* of the things the dealer can do plus a lot more:
Disable that stupid beep when you open your door with the key in the ignition
Roll up windows with remote
Halogen highbeams on with Xenon highs
Foglights on with highbeams
Disable clutch check (you don't have to push clutch in to start car)
Disable DRL's
Activate alarm (you want this)
Auto lock doors after x mph
Single or double press unlock button on remote
Double impulse hazards (double blink)
And a bunch of other things. Tell me what you want and I can *probably* do it. It'll give me an excuse to meet another Mafioso. :)

How much is the indy charging you? It *could* be worth it to to go there if they're charging you a very low fee like $20 or something.

Hmm.. I only really want to get the alarm activated and do the auto lock doors function activated, which the mechanic can do for me. I got a quote for $150ish for all that plus removing my CDV and I think I'll go with the mechanic. I must say, though, that I'm genuinely appreciative of the offer. I just don't want to drive up 2-3 hours and back and I have a lot of things planned this weekend (which is the earliest I could go). Again, thanks so much for the offer; I'm amazed at the closeness of this community (and I don't even feel all that 'established' here!).

Go thru that list of E46 car/key prefs to which I posted a link above. There's all kinds of stuff you can customize, including many underrated HVAC settings.

Hmmm... so the dealer will NOT enable windows up with remote? Can Indy shops do it?
And what about the "tap for 3 blinks" on the turn signal?

i think we should have a list of euro options that the stupid DOT won't let us have... i guess this is good enough

VA330CI can do it....for free....or a small fee. Where is he? He did the stuff in my sig.....so I am sure an Indy can dhu eet if they have the correct program.

...... Also getting my CDV deleted :D

I'd be interested to know if you can get this done by a BMW dealerships shop. I've seen numerous people report the same thing I ran into; their dealer couldn't do this type of thing per BMW rules. My dealer has typically done things for me that I've seen others report their dealership won't do (such as install non-BMW brake pads, rotors, etc). But they said they couldn't do the CDV delete.

I ended up just losing the motivation to do it, but it's not a difficult DIY thing.

I'm sure an indy shop could/would do it, but I'd be interested to know if your dealer will. I've been told they're not supposed to even if the car's out of warranty.

As for the CDV, it's worth noting not all E46's have em. Neither of mine had one ('01 ZSP and '03 ZHP).

I'll have to talk to my indie place and see what they say, and to a few dealers...will update.

Also, can someone confirm that 'tap to blink 3 times' is possible on our turn signals?
Thanks

Got my alarm activated along with some other features! CDV delete.. like a night and day difference. Best mod done to date!

One Q: is the siren sound on the alarm volume adjustable? It's a bit soft for my liking.. Is there a volume setting to make it louder?

With the 2005 (newer LCMs is 09/2005 - software# - if it's "4.0" or "4.5") LCM, the 3 blink feature can be turned on through programming.

Nope. The dealer won't do it because their software (SSS Progman) doesn't have that option. I don't know if they now use a newer software, but this was not an option on the sheet when I saw it while in to have my DRLs disabled. All of the options on the sheet were options in SSS Progman (I later found that out while researching the computer project). I do all the stuff the dealer doesn't have the capability of, incluidng what they do.

Only the very late coupes and convertibles have this option. I don't think the dealer has the capability to turn this on. Those of us with NCS Expert, on the other hand... lol

November 4-6 I'll be down in the area.
I think the other guy who does it here on the forums lives in VA as well. I'm not going to mention a name though as that would be advertising for him, and that's not for me to do. I'm sure he'll chime in if he has the time to do it, otherwise I could do it for ya that weekend if you drive up to VIR...

Cool thx, question...

My sunroof will open when I hold the unlock button w/other windows, and if I put the key in the door it will close, will that get messed up when I do the coding?

I found a site that says other options are fog lights remain on with high beams activated, turning off the alarm on/off beep and "corner light delete" (I have no clue what this one is referring to)

Some of those are key memory programmable, meaning a dealer can do it for you for about half an hour's worth of labor cost (and 10 minutes of actual work :shifty).

Most of those are non-dealer programmable.

For those of you who are no where near others who can do coding for you, here is my thread I posted up awhile ago on how you can do it your self.

http://www.zhpmafia.com/forums/showthread.php?5110-BMW-Scanner-1.4.0-Diagnostic-plus-coding-features-to-your-car.

What I did with my car,

Disabled auto lock at 5mph
enabled auto lock if the car is unlocked but no doors are open after 2 min
Disabled sunroof open with one touch feature
enabled all windows and sunroof close with remote (I don't like my sunroof to open automatically but I can still close it via remote now)
DRL's were already disabled, left it that way

What I still want to do, is disable the A/C from coming on every time I push the auto button on the climate control.
Readjust the mirror setting for when I put it in reverse, it goes down too far for me.

Things you can do that you may find interesting.

You can disable the OBC auto checks on things like lights, so if you put led's on your car, you can tell the car to ignore the error codes for lights out, and for HID's you can tell your car that you now have them and error codes will no longer appear.

Tons of stuff you can do with the setup I have in my thread.

Be warned though, do not mess with things if you don't know what they are, you can mess things up, do at your own risk.
