So here in the state of SoCal (yes SoCal is its own state lol) it was raining most of the day. I came into my office. been working diligently, and i go out on my quick 10 minute break to make a phone call and look at my car and admire the fact that its wet and needs another wash now and then i look at it from a distance and notice something is wrong. the Right Kidney grill is sticking out a little. It looks as though someone tried to pull it off and couldn't succeed so they left it alone. Unhappily though, they managed to break the two bottom clips that hold it in 100% secure so now its only about 55% secure :shifty
i guess this is the perfect time to ask, where can i get Matte Black kidney grills at a good price that will last?

Right here (http://www.khoalty.com/bmw-e46/exterior/e46-black-grill.html)
Can't beat the price or the quality.
EDIT: I finally beat Dane to answering a question. So this is what happiness feels like.

does anyone know of ones, i have seen them, that they have the carbon fiber around the edge but the kidneys themselves are matte black?

Actually...I like the gloss look of the Performance Grills on the ZHP...see if your dealer has some that they are trying to move. I bet you could get a solid deal on some OEM Grills.

I got OEM gloss black from Tischner, like those. I think the C/F ones only fit certain years (I forget if it's M3 and non-FL, or something like that. Just knew they don't fit mine).
EDIT: Forgot to mention, sorry to hear that someone jacked with your ride.

I love the look of the black gloss OEM grills. I'm just trying to decide if I like them on my jet black zhp...
I'd get gloss over matte personally.

EDIT: Just looked at the pic, it doesn't do it justice. Was taken from too close a range with a cell phone.

Trust me, my sig is WAY overdue. Was going to get pics at Tech Day until my schedule blew up.

I think the black grills will be my next purchase. I am torn between the matte black and the glossy, though.

X2, Ive juggled this off and on. Like all things I over analyze and essential just prolong and decision. I think the glass black looks best though unless on a silver or frozen grey BMW, then I like the matte black. I dont like the carbon fiber ones at all. I like them how they look by themselves but every bmw I have seen carbon fiber grills on it just looks weird to me.
Then again, if Katie had her way I would carbon fiber the whole car. She has a weird obsession with carbon fiber. So I guess the moral of the story is...
BMW enthusiast - no likey the carbon fiber grills
Woman that is way better looking than me - likey carbon fiber grills

I went with matte black. I like it. Didnt consider glossy since I didnt know that was an option.
I like the black over the chrome. Seems a bit 'meaner'.
But dont worry what others say, go with what you want, you will be happier in the long run.

And....you could buy/have a set of both...you know....to accesorize.

I'd like to get glossy black but way too $$ for me right now. I know that there was a plan to sell gloss black grills through ZHP Mafia at some point, but i got tired of waiting, So I found some matte black grills..used but in mint condition for $30.
Have to get them on still, though :)

Does anyone have a picture of the Khoalty piano black grills installed? Looks interesting in their video, but I'm curious as to how it looks on the car. The matte black will surely match up better with the black trim on the bumpers & sides, but the piano black should match the shadowline trim better. I'm torn.

I went matte because the shadowline isn't anywhere near the kidneys. The bumper trim, however, is a few inches away, along with the matte trim inside the headlights.

i think if you have a sedan w/ black body trim then matte looks better since it matches. however, on a coupe, piano/gloss looks better IMO

That has been my thought as well. But those piano black grills sure do look pretty! :)

Would you believe that I Khoa is still holding them for me? He lives in the southern most part of San Diego. I live in the northern most part. We have not got together. So, still rocking stockies.

yeah - just that the horrible feedback on Khoalty on several BMW forums made me a bit weary of dealing with them - the reviews posted and the feedback was not pleasant at all.
Price does seem good, but how;s the quality and the experience, i wonder...from what I have read, it can be very risky dealing with them...
But i will see...need to research a bit more....

I've bought two sets of matte grilles from them plus a set of 4300K D2Ss. Everything arrived as advertised, well packaged, quick shipping.
No input on the longevity of the grills....both sets were/are only about a month old.
