what do you think? I have a good deal on a csl spoiler (not the whole trunk lid) but I dont know how that obnoxious black csl spoiler would look on my imola zhp

Stay with the original lip. It will look cheap if you short with boot lid.

i vote no, keep lip spoiler

(i vote 6 no's on the ugly ass ricer exhaust)

EDIT: just noticed E36 side mirrors, think im about to throw up from all the random crap on it. who owns this ZHP/what was this guy thinking? This car needs a better home.

CSL trunk> OEM ZHP lip spoiler (M3)> nothing (naked trunk)> add-on CSL trunk spoiler

Hmmm, hadn't thought of it that way but I might have to agree.

My take on this is if you want a CSL bootlid then save $$$ and do it right. Not only will it look good but you will be much happier with the results. Siebon I think is only available for sedan fitment and VIS, Scorza , or OEM CSL for coupes. Last time I priced an OEM CSL bootlid it was $2500.

If you're wanting the look of a CSL trunk and you're going to have the CSL lip molded on/in to your current bumper by a body shop, you're going to spend a lot of $$ to get it to look decent. Better to save for the whole trunk lid, and follow the advise posted by Charlie. The initial quality of the lid is everything. I have a lesser quality lid and it took a ton of body work to get it looking good, and it's still not perfect. (But I still love it :eeps)

If you like the look of the just the lip sitting on the trunk, like the picture Hermes posted, then do it. It's about your taste, not ours.

But I agree 100% with Eli's "greater than " statement.

If it were me, I would rather get the spoiler add on and get the spoiler molded into my current trunk, I have rarely heard of anyone being 100% happy with aftermarket trunks, even the top end cf trunks dont fit well. Save the money and time you would spend getting the aftermarket trunk fitted properly and do bodywork to your oem trunk and get it painted. I learned the hard way from the CF hood. Thats why I still have the oem hood.

Sorry, let me rephrase... I dont like the look of the add on CSL spoiler. If you want the CSL look then do what Charlie said and get the whole trunk. Much cleaner look. (yes I agree also the fit of the CF trunks are not perfect but it can be made to work, add on always will look funny)

CSL if you have some serious cash to drop.
The ZHP boot lid spoiler is much cheaper and looks damn good too.

My money would be better spent on performance and driver's schools.

Everyone has an opinion on what should be done. What is going to make you happy is really all that matters. If you really like something then add it on. The main point that I received (from Shane Euro Auto Spot and Dave at 2M Auto Body) "Don't short cut your BMW, it will show on the end results" You will spend more money trying to achieve the look you want, rather than spending up front first.

Actually what makes JOHN happy is the better decision. :biggrin

Definitely agree with spending the right money to do it right (not always the most, but the "right" money).

+1 - it's your car, do what you like. I agree that it's a lot easier/better/less stressful in the long run to spend more up front on quality parts than get a good deal on a not so good part and keep messing with it to make it feel and look right

throw in my 2 cents:

1. Had a CSL on my sedan
2. Got rid of CSL and went back to stock

There are lots of other options as well. ACS(or rep) makes a decent spoiler add on. Adds a slightly more aggressive lip over the stock ZHP lip but not like a CSL lip. Also if you can find it, there is a Strass lip that goes on M3's. Have always loved the lip but they are so far and few between and brand new is over $1K for it.

Anyway, just go with stock ZHP lip or maybe something subtle like ACS.

I see a ZHP near me (I keep forgetting to take pictures) that has what appears to be a carbon fiber CSL trunk. It's on a gray car - possibly TiAg? Dunno. Anyway, it looks pretty cool, though I much prefer the stock look.
