SOLD

This car is officially for sale.

Just under 89k miles, 6 speed manual trans, Alcantara interior, sunroof, cold weather package, Xenons, Sedan. The car was rear-ended once but was so minor that the reapir bill came to less than $700. I have a pic from when it was hit that shows the spider cracks in the paint. The rear bumper was removed and repainted. No metal was touched. I am the second owner.

$14k

The car hasn't been driven more than a couple thousand miles this year. It has a few items it needs. Any buyer can buy the car as-is at the listed price or the price will go up as I fix the items it needs over the next month or so.

Things on the list:
Coolant system overhaul - expansion tank, thermostat, waterpump. I haven't had any issues but I know it's a good idea to do this right about now.
VANOS seals - I had them replaced a couple of years ago and it's time to do them again.
Diff fluid drain and refill - again, no issues, just preventative.
Tires - It's currently wearing Blizzaks. I have an old pair of Hankook Ventus rears but I was planning on 4 new tires.
Wheel refinishing - all four OEM wheels need refinishing. These were my winter wheels otherwise I would have gotten them refinished earlier. Previous owner curbed all 4 wheels.
Headlight lenses - I'm picky. I don't like to look at marks on them.
1 small PDR on the driver's side - it's been there since day 1 when I bough the car. Nobody sees it unless you point it out. Even then it's tough to see.

The good:
Freshly painted front bumper and hood.
Always starts & runs smooth, never broken down or left me stranded.
Cared for by me. I change the oil every 7500k miles or once a year.
EXTRA CLEAN INTERIOR. I am super picky on cleanliness. Everyone is always shocked at how clean this car is inside and outside.
2 keys & 1 plastic access key
All manuals

Modifications:
KW V2 coilovers
Powerflex FCAB's
Gruppe M Carbon Fiber Intake
OEM M3 strut tower bar
Orion V2 LED Angle Eyes with remote on/off
All OEM clear corners, sidemarkers & RCR tails w/stealth bulbs in all locations
JLeviSW xenon interior bulbs
LED license plate lights
Xenisis Tru-Match 6500k fogs
iSimple iPod connection
OEM aux-in
Euro long tray center console
Black kidneys
35% tint all around
Rolled fenders
20mm spacers in front, 10mm in rear
Stoptech cross drilled rotors with Akebono Euro pads

As someone currently in the market for a ZHP, I can tell you that I would be very leery of purchasing a car with due service/maintenance. That is, unless I know the seller, and know that they have taken great care of the car otherwise. Logically, it makes sense to have the new owner do the service, but I think that you'll have trouble convincing them that the car has been taken care of if there is pending service.

I hope that things turn around for you!

Sell the other car.

Sell as is honestly. Don't leave the site though.

This. Plus, if you take care of the cooling system first, it's actually a minimal cost when you consider the fact that you will make more of that money back from the sale as opposed to selling it without it. They can use that as a negotiating point, and if they play the "I don't know how to fix this myself" card, that means they'll use the labor costs to make their negotiating stronger. I'd just get it done for less than the $500 or so it costs and easily get more money for it than the cost of the maintenance.

Not yet Marcus. Based on feedback here and elsewhere, I'll likely fix stuff before selling unless I get a fair offer for it as it sits.

Sell as is, Dane has his original cooling system at 133,000+ and told me he thinks the key is to keep the pressurized system pressurized by not opening it up often.

mimalmo

Yeah, it hasn't had any problems, I just know any prospective buyers are going to ask about it.

When I bought mine for 12K I didn't even pop the hood, and I knew it would need a clutch eventually and that is now, price yours at 16k and hope for 14,500. You should have no problem selling.

Good luck - I bought my 2005 ZHP knowing it need the cooling system work. I factored that into the price adn was happy knowing that I had done the preventive maintenance items.

what are you thinking the price might jump to after you take care of everything on your list?

mimalmo
10-23-2011, 12:34 PM
Haven't thought that far in advance. Probably $16.5k

UdubBadger
10-23-2011, 03:55 PM
hmmm ok

mimalmo
10-23-2011, 04:26 PM
Given that stock ZHP's with similar/slightly higher miles and in rougher shape are going for $14k to $15k, mine with all the stuff done should sell quickly at that price.

Buyers will know how it's been maintained and with all the disclosures, no surprises.

Not to mention all the desireable mods are already done with the best quality parts on this car.

Forgot to mention, the 4k RPM dip was fixed on this car. DME was shipped to NJ for programming by my dealership. Many of the cars out there never got this done under warranty and it's not cheap to fix outside of warranty.

I think your price is very competitive. I would've bought this thing in a heartbeat if it had come up while I was hunting.

I have a bunch of parts sitting here but a new job and a hand injury prevents me from doing anything on the car.

New cross-drilled Stoptech rotors and Akebono Euro Ceramic pads installed on the front. I have the matching rears new in the box.

NGK plugs BKR6EQUP.

A new cabin filter

Redline diff fluid

Wheels have not been repainted but I did a major cleaning job on them before I injured my hand and they look really good now. Not perfect but very good.

I also did a Plati-X polish on the headlight lenses and they look really good now. No sense putting in new ones during the winter.

Haven't bought the parts for the cooling system but at the price I'll be at after the paint is done, it will leave the future owner plenty of money to do this.

UdubBadger
01-03-2012, 07:09 PM
excellent, exactly what I wanted to know.

so are you still at $13k price for everything (including uninstalled stuff you have)?

UdubBadger
01-03-2012, 07:12 PM
and this is coming with blizzaks right? how much tread is on um? any A/S or summer tires?

mimalmo
01-03-2012, 07:35 PM
Raising the price to $14k now. The paintwork necessitates the price increase. I'm only raising the price what the work cost me though. All the parts I mentioned above are coming with the car. Throw in a few more dollars and I'll include an E46 M3 diff and subframe.

Blizzaks have tons of tread left on them. They've seen very little use over the last two years. I have a single pair of Hankook Ventus V12 rear tires that are fairly worn but could be ran for a couple months if needed.

eli what about the Vanos?
Hasn't been done. After I started my new job, I injured my hand and still haven't regained full motion & strength yet. Kinda hard to do a VANOS job with just one hand.

Thanks! It gets a ton of compliments and if I had to do it all over again, I'd mod it exactly the same way.
