Hahahaha, yeah I know they don't like people messing around.
So this was an exotics-only auto-x set up for people to take an exotic out.. and not just a normal auto-x?

It was an exotic auto-x. You pay X amt to pick either a gallardo, murcielago or 430. Since I couldnt fit in the lambo's (too tall by 3 inches), I drove the 430. The coaches in the vehicle said had my appointment been at the end of the day, they would of let me take my M5 on the track no charge.
I will definitely do it again, it was a blast.

Nothing too special, but lifting porsche wheels are always cool.
Tough shot for me, even though this looks trackside, it wasn't at all. They had a fence around the main wall (about 10 feet) and they had a slot where actual photographers could shoot.
I was able to find gaps in both.

Awesome shots, guys!!
Haven't posted in a while...so here's a multi-purposeful post. lol Installed my new CF CSL Bootlid. Want to know what you guys think on fitment from this angle. From looking at it directly from the rear, all the lines match up! :) ...so just wondering on the side. I'll post more shots though when I paint the trunk handle piece and clean the car up (Needs it bad! lol)

Seems as though it can come towards the window to sit flush. How are the tails matching up?

That's what I was thinking. The tails match up perfectly along with the top line. So I would just need to push it a hair in towards the rear window. I would do this using these bolts (pictured below) right?

Shaun, you will have more success fiddling with the top part of the hinge that mounts to the trunk lid.

You think so? I've read that using those bolts make it go forward and back...and with all the lines perfect right now, I'd be scared to mess those up by going with the other bolts that actually hold the lid. lol
....but I'll take your advice and try that first. Then do the others if need be. lol

The hinge that mounts to the body is what actually determines the position of the lines. The flush factor is determine with the hinge on the lid.

Ohhh, well I was previously miss-informed then. In that case, I'll go with the ones actually holding the bootlid! Thanks for that info! :)

haha Thank you, sir! I tried and tried until every line pretty much lined up. lol took me about 3 tries to do. But yes, I know exactly what you mean. I was hoping that the top crease/line would line up with the top of the lights like it should....instead of where most people's non-vorstiener trunks do (which is generally in the middle of the lights). I'm quite pleased with the product! I only had to do a little modifying for some bolts to line up and the keyhole to fit right.
Be-au-ti-ful!

My dads nice all original 2002 WS6 trams am about to get the trickle-charger winter treatment. She's the definition of a garage queen. Spotless, the last of her kind, and only about 7,000 miles on her.
http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/10/15/u2uja5eq.jpg
Then next to her is a car that my dad kinda finished putting back together. PO was disgusted with the $8k+ paint job and just wanted out of it. Whole thing is restored and clean enough to eat off of. Engine is all brand new, still in it's break in stage probably. It's a 5.7L V8 bored 30 over. We figure its a mild build with only about 350hp..

Idk if any of you noticed.. but look above the gas tank above the body line. Those are 3 little dents about the size of a fist/palm/hand. They've been there for a while and I think they were from the tech who was trying to get my rear springs out during my suspension install. I've been living with that since July :mob

Dalton, the best part of a properly detailed car is that the dents are less noticeable because of how shiny the car is. I have lived with a few huge dents on my driver's door panel and front quarter panel and most people tell me that they don't notice it because of how well detailed the rest of the car is. Believe me, it kills me to have this but I know someday I will have all of this "fixed" and then will have a fully sorted out ZHP :thumbsup
I know your pain ;)

Heh, I see them now!
Next spring I hope I can get paintless dent repair (although that area seems to be tricky) and a front bumper respray. I WAS going to get it for free.. or close to free because while working at BMW, I made good friends with the body shop manager and she was going to hook me up on a slow day. But unfortunately, she got let go due because of other people doing shady things in order to get a buddy into her spot.

@Charlie, your paint looks liquid... nice. I always thought you could see the dents better in the shine, but I guess with Charlie's it reflects light so much the dents get lost. Kinda like when you're driving down a long straight highway on a hot day and the horizon starts to blur due to the heat rising off the road.

In the pic above, note the MASSIVE Saguaro cactus (compare it to the road next to it for scale!) and the "little" Saguaro on the left side of my license plate. The Saguaro cactus only grows in the Sonoran desert, almost exclusively in Arizona, with a few scattered in northern Mexico, and a tiny sprinkling at the California border. Love our plates, though in '08 we went to the dreaded "flat" plates with a 7 letter/number sequence and crappy font. My plates on both cars are the vintage ones, and I ain't giving them up.

The M3 and 335 look great Charlie! Your pictures look great!
You should really consider the "euro" front bumper for the M3, they have no side reflector :) That way you won't have to worry about the painted reflector you have!
I tried the Leather Masters kit on my seats, it's apparently as good as Leatherique, and some say better. I personally think it's better, it is much easier to use and left my seats feeling really soft, matte, and supple. I don't need to leave any oil on the seats to absorb or anything, just use the cleaner, wait 30 minutes and follow up with the protection cream.
Here is a review on it
http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showthread.php?t=220534
http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/product-reviews/30019-review-leather-master-car-leather-protection-cleaner-kit.html
I would recommend it to anyone. It seems that LM is better maintaining and Leatherique is more of a leather restorer

The bead on my car after a good rain.
Also a hipster shot w/ Instagram of my lm reps.
The bead is a bit "bigger" on the roof becaus it's vinyl wrapped and I did not bother waxing, or using a sealant on it. It's not necessary (matte black), however, I did spray some quick detailer on it.

Thanks guys. If all goes well, next year I plan on a full OEM Mtech-2. I will rock that for a few months, then I am going to get a replica csl diffuser for the m-tech 2 bumpers. It will have quad exhausts just like the M3's have them sort of centered. I will change out my exhaust for a custom dual in/dual out like the 325's and 330's so that will add a good bit of hp.
Currently, 323's/328's have a weird dual in/single out mid pipe #1, mid pipe #2 is a single in/single, and the rear muffler is a single in/dual out.

Not my exact plan, but similar with the rear set up.
And yeah...323/328 stock exhaust sucks balls. Every time I'm under the car I just shake my head and immediately fantasize about the custom 3" that will be in it's place in the future.

lol same. I think to myself, why couldn't BMW stay consistent with a decent dual.in/dual.out?
I guess the 323 has it because it is basically a 325i but they needed to water it down to make 330 seem a lot better/faster.

328* and yes. Everything was choked down to meet stringent standards set by Germany in 1998 to cap power ratings. If you had x amount of power you had to pay additional taxes on the car. That was lifted in 2000 and the M54 was released shortly after.

Got it. Do you know if the m54b30 intake manifold will fit on my 323's m5tuB25 motor? I plan on a corvette v8 swap in a few years, so I don't want to mod the engine too much.. Yet, I want some more oomph in the mean time.
Hornung418
12-01-2012, 08:20 PM
Yup. Like a glove. Just need to get an adapter plate for the TB. If you're patient, I should be done the Engine Management swap before the end of January. This makes use of the B30 TB and advanced throttle mapping.
Johal E32
12-01-2012, 09:33 PM
Awesome.
Parts list
M54B30 intake mani
throttle body adaptor
CCV?
disa?
What if I get a 330i maf and intake at the same time? I would use the mechanical 330i throttle body, since my 323 has the mechanical throttle as well
Anything else?
Hornung418
12-01-2012, 10:08 PM
M54 TBs are electronically controlled - you have to reuse your stock TB. You'll need the DISA from the B30 as it is totally different from any of the other DISAs. CCV is up to you. Mine came with one attached and was in working useable condition. No need to replace. I did the swap for a total of $500...lots of misc. parts and the TB adapter was $70 shipped from Germany. Scored the manifold and B30 cams for $250, DISA included.

Well, I am sorry to admit I don't have any photos... Either way, the lady and I spent a night in Miami last night with a couple friends that came into town. The 4 of us went out for a couple drinks, dinner, and then a nightcap at the hotel bar. Between driving down last night, going out, and getting up and driving home this morning, this is a list of the cars I saw.. in order...
1. Ferrari California
2. Lamborghini Gallardo Spider
3. Ferrari 458 Italia
4. Rolls Royce Ghost
5. Lamborghini Aventador
6. Ferrari California
7. Imola red ZHP sedan! :biggrin
8. Rolls Royce Ghost
9. Fisker Karma
Oh, and don't forget the countless Bentleys... They're as abundant as E90 328i's down here... I swear, the cars in South Florida are asbolutely ridiculous...

Yes. He had the 335i, then got the Imola ZHP coupe (Now has a baller X5 - That he won't post updated pics of! Mmmph!). Dunno who the black car belongs to.
The people need to be fed Boss.
Dane, that black and white photo doesn't reveal the imola red of my ZHP. With no editing, the car is red.

Haha, well he does live in Florida part of the year, so maybe he wouldn't mind if I exercised this Ford GT or Z8 for him a bit. Don't give me any ideas! To answer your question - he lives in the bustling metropolis known as Talbot County, MD. Photos were taken in Oxford, MD. (Notice state flag & county flag in one of the photos, and the ferry that I do some part-time captain work for is in the background in another image). He also has business/land in DE, hence the DE tag.

The (former) XXX Bar is in Superior, AZ - site of many movie shoots, including The Gauntlet (Squint Eastwood, Sondra Locke) and U-Turn (Sean Penn, Nick Nolte, Billy-Bob Thornton, etc). That pic was shot back in 2010. I was out there the other day and shot a pic of my "other" car in front of the joint, alas someone has swiped the ultra-cool sign... rat bastards.

Cool. That's a serious C&C. Nissan's nearby, right? They used to be about 15 minutes from me and I remember when they decided to move their operations to TN.

I followed this Nissan inclosed trailer in to Cool Springs Cars n Coffee this morning and this is what was unloaded. Turns out its a one of two. Must say it's prety cool seeing something like this in prototype form.

Do you know of a way to contact these guys who are bringing the Juke to different Cars and Coffees around TN?

No I don't but may be able to find out. I'm thinking that the Juke-R was created and resides in Nashville and may be limited to the close region.

Yes, it is a very serious C & C and I do pass one of the Nissan office facilities on the way in. The last three weeks have been washed out and I did run into rain on my way up this morning but, that didn't seam to put a damper on it. The exotics that reserve the first Saturday of the month wee out in numbers this morning.

At the end of a corporate event 5 years ago at the Performance Center, I got to ride along on a hot lap in an M5 with Renner at the wheel. It ended with a white knuckle orbit of the skid pad at about Warp 8. What an outstanding experience all the way around! The event included driving every type of BMW on the grounds, including an off road expedition in an X5, in a driving rainstorm, a "rat race" in Z4's, hot laps in all the hot cars, and a timed and competitive autocross. Good times!

Great shots! To answer the earlier question, this thread was originally intended to be for your best shots, as opposed to other threads where you can throw out event shots, teasers, other hot cars, general photography of cars, etc.
