For those who remember that pretty epic fail bokeh thread that started a long time ago here...........This is a perfect example of aesthetically pleasing bokeh. The hollywood bokeh (bubbles) give off the appearance of joy or celebration which both enhances and complements the pure joy on the subjects face.

It's not just bokeh for bokeh's sake, it enhances the overall mood and emotion in the photo without getting in the way.

normally I tend to have my cars in the further 1/2-1/3rd of the photo so there is more space in front but in this case I think it works, makes the car seem like it's faster than the camera trying to catch up to it (I know it's not moving but it's visual perception).

lucisart or hdr tonemapping?

Neither. But I do know how to edit to give it an HDR feel. I use a single photo and do my best -- in some pictures -- to give the photo a look that will remind viewers of HDR. Most of the time, the HDR-like emphasis will be on my main subject.

By using a single exposure (the original), instead of multiple exposures, I believe that I can put my own creative spin on the photo. Also, by using a single exposure, I won't have some of the artifacts that HDR advocates experience with multiple exposures.

In the end, I am hoping that the viewer isn't quite sure how I got a particular look. HDR, with multiple exposures, is obvious. I don't want mine to be so obvious. I also want to avoid the cartoon feel that so many of those photos have.

As for LucisArt (had to look it up), never heard of that term until today.

Kris' car is modded and waaay faster than the 1M, no way you'd get this in a standard 135 either... we're talking a whole 'nother ball game. Not only that, but the visual mods are amazing, completely changes they way you look at the car and how you feel about it. Nothing against what you said Seth, as the 1's are nice, but Kris' car is way beyond that. It's a 2. lol

yeah it was a lease, modded the crap out of it and re-leased it to some other guy who actually took a good chunk of the mods on it already. He paid me outright for the parts in cash and then did everything else though BMWFS.

FWIW the turner spacer kits are some of the nicest I've come across. SUPER easy to get off the car after a long time on with corrosion and all the built up gunk.

I ordered my spacers from Modbargains. I did the H&R TRAK+ spacers. They're hubcentric, as well as very durable and reliable. No issues or squeaks thus far.

Not really John :) It was a very good friend of mine. He told me that if I ever made it to his area when he's on the job he will be sure to pull me over, which is what he did. I made good use of my camera and took that pic :thumbsup We had a good chat while everyone drove by thinking "good, that BMW driver deserves a ticket". I even mentioned that to him and he agreed that that was probably what they were thinking and then we both laughed...

all in all, a great day to take off from work :)

This has been in planning for quite some time and my friend has always told me that he would gladly pull me over so we could chat. As I was chatting it up with my friend, I could see people's faces as they drove by....I could only imagine what they were thinking when they saw a police car (lights flashing) and a police officer outside my car (the ///M). My friend was also laughing just a little when I mentioned it. It was a good day and I had wanted to do a mini shoot with just the ///M since getting my camera.

What I figured out is that I still have lots to learn and will take some classes when I have time. I really want to explore this camera...:)

Charlie, I'm enjoying the on-slot of pictures! The, uh hem, My ///M looks great! ;) Glad to hear the bust was a bust, and not the real thing. A flashing patrol car in the side mirror always makes for a cool picture, however it usually costs a couple hundred dollars!

Not sure if i missed reading it somewhere, but what kind did you get? lol They're quite fun, so just enjoy playing around with it and messing with different settings. My first suggestion is that you have a good understanding of shutter speed, aperture, iso and how to manage them together! ...then of course, have funn!! :)

Yeah, I was talking to the owner and he told me that he did the engine swap over a weekend and that he still needed to clean up the wiring. I'm sure he will have this addressed as well. I would love to see this little rocket go!

One of the guys who attended came over to me when he saw my ZHP and asked me if it was a ZHP. Of course I told him it was and he looked like he really wanted a ride to the meet in it so I gave him one. He kept telling me that he has been looking for one for the past three years now. He goes to college in the Philly area so I'm just passing the word out here for anyone who happens to know of a ZHP for sale from VA to New England....there's a guy who will be interested...:thumbsup

It was a beast but it was worth it! The truck rarely sees a garage, it's too big to fit in most. Luckily it fit in mine with lots of room to spare :)

I'll post the 323 soon, I am hoping to post some more recent pictures with a set of style 135's that I am in the process of buying!

Next year, I hope to fit a OEM m-tech 2 kit, and respray my hood.

Only has 56k miles and it's a 2005, he also got a really nice camper/shell for the bed of the truck. My cousin and I removed it for the detail though.

The diesels use allision trannys. Chevy/GMCis the only truck I would buy to tow.. Just my opinion.

C&C welcome....I haven't shot much in the dark, let alone, shooting cars in the dark with just a speedflash. lol

Welcome back. My .02... no way really do your car justice in a setting like that without rear/side lighting as you know with just a front speed flash as you mentioned. So it really depends on what your goal was as to what type of shot you wanted. Other thoughts...perhaps change the ISO to get rid of the grain in that low light, and maybe crop those other suckas outta there. I'm sure the other people who know more have their view.

single best advice for you is use light that doesn't come from off the top of the camera.

Also at night you need to diffuse the light somehow, see how harsh those shadows are under the mirrors? Keep at it, looking forward to seeing progress.

finished working on my dad's car for for the day (Reverse LEDs and front reflectors...still need to install smoked side turn signal LEDs, License plate LEDs, LUX AEs, and hardwire the car for V1. Everything I got him for his b-day. :thumbup) and decided to test out the new Lens while I had both black beauty's near the bottom garage.

Yeah that probably helped haha. Idk about anyone else, but I would have just smoked the tires on all corners on purpose. It's what I did with my ZHP a few weeks ago when my rears were shot and it's a pretty good time

First lap you are supposed to take slow to learn the course and not wreck the car, namely that pole pictured. Some DB decided to gun it into turn one with the lambo and spun out immediately swiping 6 cones. He immediately was kicked off the course. Most expensive bottle of water he ever drank.
