Very sharp pic of your dog. I know you said it's unedited, but perhaps next time consider the background in your shot (the door, the jacket, the shadow of your dog behind it from the light, etc). Obviously if you edited it you could crop out some unwanted things, but others are in your shot.

You need to resize, prior to upload into Flickr....or....In Flickr.....click the photo....click on "Actions"...then from the drag down.....choose "Edit photo in Picnik"

Done...Try resizing it to 1200 width....lock aspect ratio..

Okay...I was in the photoviewer and it wouldn't allow me to share...Copyright issue. Think I got it figured out.

I use imageshack with the use of their Mac OS app to reduce to 1024px. Now I don't have to save smaller web sizes because imageshack does a clear job at downsizing without quality loss. But I'd like to find a better free way of sharing because imageshack's organization is not very satisfactory.

I just think that given the content the title should note that it is not work appropriate, ie the 35% tag.

If I had some of this stuff up or was scrolling through unaware of the content (as i was yesterday when I made that post) and a boss or certain people walked by I'd be up shit creek and could legitimately be facing loss of employment. There is nothing in "official photo of the day - no cars" that says NSFW, and it should.

This is just from a handheld Panasonic I took with me cause it's easier for me to carry around and takes good enough quality. right and again, not saying you did it wrong or any of that was just curious was all as I thought it was just a wide angle shot from the frame size. Most panos end up coming out a lot longer than taller, nothing wrong with how you shot it (probably preferred actually).

Basically I'm doing this for my mom and dad who didn't take anywhere close to as many pics as I did when they were here. Its funny how you can never do enough off ice workouts to prepare you for a full game. I played college, juniors and a season in Europe and I havent played in about a year before signing up for this pro am league. After the 1st game I was sore for about 3 full days!

Lol yeah I remember that leg burn myself. Hockey ruined my body though. I played long enough in my youth to build my legs up to be as strong as a Mack truck but not long enough to get my upper body to match in the weight room (stopped my freshman yr in HS). Now I can leg press 400lbs but can barely bench 150.

We shot long exposure with a .6 hard edge ND filter along the horizon on a tripod. This keeps the sky darker and allows us to expose the bottom half of the photo properly by taking the whites in the sky out of play.

LOVE the lighting on this. My predominantly Republican family refers to it as "Liberal's Pool" lol.

On a side note, there's an interesting thread over on Fredmiranda about people in Landscapes. I've always tried to avoid them in my pictures but a lot of the examples over there are changing my thinking.

Interesting William. I usually don't like people in my landscapes but that is a good point. I do usually like the silhouettes against an ocean sunset, but this does open up other thoughts. Separately, I like the shot of the tripods on Zabriskie point because that's how it looked when I shot it at oh-dark-30 waiting for the sunrise many years ago... nice memories. Death Valley is a great place to shoot. Thanks for posting the article.

When I take Landscape pictures, I use the people in the pictures to show scale, use of space and flow of traffic.

I don't have a position one way or the other. I will typically follow the principles that I've learned, though. If the people are distracting, I will edit them out. If they are not an issue, I will leave them. Sometimes I actually want people in my landscapes. See that recent picture that Casey and I took (pier shot with young couple).

One thing I do like about having people in my landscape pictures is that they can provide scale (when I really want to emphasize it).
