How does the plastic cover over the battery come out?

I needed to access the battery in the rear and though I removed the two huge plastic "phillips" screws (allowing the plastic cover to lift open a little but not come out) I simply could not free it from under the trunk carpeting or whatever.

How does that thing come out??

I have had a hard time removing it as well.

If I remember right, push down on the edge that is closest to the right side of the car. Wiggle it and it comes off. Its a PITA for sure.

Did a quick lookup and from what I understand you just gotta use force and play around with it. The carpeting in the trunk and the carpeting against that wall are holding it down.

You have to get the carpet out of the way.
