How hard would it be to maintain that beast? And how much engine longevity would one likely sacrifice? (Not that it matters, as I'm sure I'd lose my license long before the car had problems...) :)

If you are going to buy a S/C, this is hands down the best kit to get. ESS is very anal about their stuff and make sure it works flawlessly. I talk with the ESS guys all the time since their US shop is here in Tempe/Chandler AZ and they show up to our meets with a lot of the demo cars they use to test.

Lack of cold weather package and four doors notwithstanding, I am seriously tempted to 'pull the trigger' on this one! Of course, it would need the big brake upgrade from ECS...

Anyone in that area of the country? I'm thinking to have a PPI done, and meet this fellows asking price if it's clean...

There are a couple shops in PDX that are really good. Bend is about 2hrs from Portland, so the seller may not want to get it there, but I'm sure he wouldn't mind the drive :)! If he can't get it over here...maybe I'll just have to go get it for you :)!

If you can, get it to:
1. Boyd Motorwerks: a great shop and supporter of the local BMWCCA chapter. www.boydmotorwerks.com
2. Pacific Motorsport: they would do a great inspection. They are experienced with BMW's and performance upgrades as well. www.pacificmotorsports.com
3. German Master Tech (Bend, OR): if the seller can't/won't get it to Portland, this shop looks pretty solid in Bend. http://www.bimmershops.com/oregon/german-master-tech-bend-or

Good Luck!!

The owner took it to German Master Tech for his own PPI; their eval seemed pretty solid.

This seller seems really solid and up-front. Besides the fact that a) it's a coupe; b) it has no cold weather package; c) it has gray leather, and d) I'm going to have to have it shipped 1,600 miles, I'm actually rather excited.

Now, will someone explain to me, please, WHY I need a supercharged ZHP that can blow the doors off an E46M and an STI? Besides the fact that I love sleeper cars on principal?

I've been talking lots with the seller--it turns out the car has KW Variant 2 coilovers. From what I've read here, that seems like a nice suspension setup. Does anyone here run these? Will/can they be soft enough for a DD?

I have V1's and the good Eli has V2's. We both love our setups. They are DD proven.

I've never heard of any type of coilovers ridding good. Sacrifice ride comfort for better handling.

My car actually rides smoother with the KW V2's than the OEM ZHP setup. Keep in mind that with cheaper coilovers you can only adjust ride height but with better ones you can adjust dampening, rebound and more.

Question to all with coupes! Anyone have small children? Is the coupe a viable option? I have to admit that the supercharger has me enthralled...

WOLFN8TR
09-01-2011, 07:01 AM
Yes it is doable. I have a 6 month old and can easily fit the car seat in the backseat in the middle. Just move the seat all the way forward and in she goes. The only thing is I'm 6 feet tall so my seat is forward more when she is with me but not much.

I actually considered buying that baby but I would have to sell my car first. So not really worth it.

I have a one year old and five year old, both in Britax seats, and they fit fine. We have taken 2-3 hours road trips with no complaints. Go for it!

All right, fellas! It's update time!

PPI: car checks out really well. I usually take it as a good sign when the service writer says he'd love to buy the car! Sunroof shade needs a new guide pin, and wipers need adjustment plus new blades. New tires are also a must, but I can put those on next season, after the snow melts. Oh, it could use new brake fluid, too; good thing I have four liters of Ate Type 200 and some Stoptech stainless lines just lying about!

Our bankers have chatted, and transport is being arranged...

My banker says we need a bill of sale to initiate the loan/purchase process. Is this as simple as it sounds? Can we just type out a piece of paper saying X sells BMW 3-series rocket ship to Y for Z dollars, and that's it? Or is there more to it? The credit union in Oregon holds the lien, so that doesn't worry me too much.

If only I could fly out, look at the car, TOUCH it, and put it on the transport truck, I'd feel better...

Michele, it really is as simple as typing out a bill of sale. You can write out a one paragraph BOS with all of the necessary details. Simple as that.

Also, be sure to check with your banker, to see if the bank has a pre-printed BOS that they prefer you use. If they don't have one, then you should be free to do your own.

Sorry- forgot I wanted to chime in here.

I have 12 and 9 year old daughters. They fit in the back of the coupe fine. They've done many multiple-hour trips back there with no complaints. Totally viable.

According to them, (and I'm not sure I concur) the back seats in the ZHP coupe are more comfortable than the sedan seats in my old 325. They like the armrests and side bolsters better.

Good luck with this purchase.

Looks like an awesome ride.
