View Full Version : OEM Brakes - Everything I need?

Before I start the search for the best pricing, I wanted to make sure I had all the necessary parts needed and part numbers in order. Thanks BCS and dane for some recommendations for who to contact for a quote.

I have already ordered some stainless steel brake lines for the front and rear, so I won't need those.


Part #s / prices taken from realoem:

Front:

rotor -> 34101166071 ($123.68 - set)
pad -> 34116779652 ($118.98 - set)
sensor -> 34356751311 ($22.16)

Rear:

rotor -> 34201166073 ($127.00 - set)
pad -> 34216790071 ($97.48 - set)
sensor -> 34351164372 ($23.35)


Realoem had 'quanity 2' listed next to the rotors, so that should be the MSRP price for a set right? Am I missing anything else? Should I bother replacing the sensors if my light hasn't come on yet?

No need to replace the sensors if the light isn't on.

I always buy replacement rotor hat screws in case they strip on removal.

Otherwise, it looks like you've got everything covered.

You need fluid, and antisqueal/antichirp lube. Also brake cleaner.

+1 on sensors. I didn't realize this before...

Hat screws - I've gotten these with my new rotors...

You need fluid, and antisqueal/antichirp lube. Also brake cleaner.

Will need one to two quarts of brake fluid since you are doing SS lines and will need to fill and bleed the system afterwards.

May need PB Blaster for taking apart stubborn bolts/fasteners.

Assuming you have the tools for the job - metric socket set up to 19mm, metrix hex key set, C-clamp/caliper piston press, breaker bar, and torque wrench. Do you have a Motive Power Bleeder or vacuum bleeder or plan on using the old school method?

You should also get one bolt for each caliper with your rotor set (one bolt is removed so you can swing caliper up and out of the way). These bolts are suggested single use fasteners - it may be a good idea to order a second bolt since you will be taking off the caliper and bracket to remove the rotor.

Maybe some thread lubricant for fasteners that aren't thread locked?
