It appears the LCM in my 2003 325i is malfunctioning and needs replacement. Is there a coding or tamper dot issue with such replacement or is it simply plug and play? It is a very basic operation, just want to be sure the car does not need to be "sync'd" to the new part before I buy and replace in my garage. This is not including any lighting changes to the car. It is a stock to stock swap, LCM only.

You need to have it coded to your car via the VIN. If you don't you will get a tamper dot. There is a small LED on the faceplate, that will illuminate if you don't code it.
I'm very interested in having mine upgraded to be able to be capable of things like Xenons, Euro Dbl Impulse Hazards, Auto-On, High beams w/ fogs and corner delete.
EDIT: You should PM TerraPhantm on bf.c. He's more than capable to code your new LCM to your liking, and charges a small fee for his time. He keeps a few LCMs in stock at his house, I believe, so you might just have him do the whole thing :)
