View Full Version : "Clearer" LED side markers for ZHP coupes?

Hi guys, I did a search and didn't find an answer, so forgive me if this is a question that has already been asked.

I notice that on my 2005 ZHP coupe the LED side markers are not clear, but rather have notable flutes throughout the clear portion that make them look a very slight bit yellowish (maybe it's the underlying beige plastic, I'm not sure). I thought it might be that they're just old, but when I went to see a replacement set at my local BMW dealer, they looked identical, so I don't think that's a solution.

I was wondering if there are replacement LED markers available for our cars that are simply clear plastic/glass, and not the fluted look. Perhaps something like this, although this is for sedans only. They are still fluted, but less so:

I've looked at a few sites (jlevi, etc), but they all seem to carry over the fluted OEM design. Are there any other alternatives that you know of?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance!

I amazed at the lack of these for coupes.

I was wondering this, too. I just figured mine were old and yellow but it's good to know it's normal :) Even after using headlight restoring techniques, they have that yellow tint. I'll be on the lookout, because they would look a bit nicer if they were perfectly clear.

I haven't seen any alternatives without the flutes.

Yeah, I'm quite surprised by that. It seems that most other variants of the e46 have something like that, except for us.

I got replacement side markers from pelicanparts. They were OEM parts. I think they look pretty clear compared to the old ones.

+1 I got mine from Khoalty. They weren't OEM, but they were just fine.

How do you change them?

Push them toward the front of the car, and pop out from the rear.

push them towards the body (i.e. inwards) or towards the from of the car (i.e. laterally towards the headlights)? Thanks Dane

Towards the front of the car....

Nice, that definitely looks better. Unfortunately (or fortunately) my side markers were the same as the replacement OEM units, so I didn't bother to swap them. Was hoping for an alternative, but I guess we don't really have much available in that department.

They'll be yellow again in about 2 years.... OEM or not. I replace mine every 2 years... they look great, then one day you realize they are yellow again... thankfully they are inexpensive...

On my vert, push to the front IIRC.

What I say is....push to the front....and if it doesn't move....push to the rear.
