Is this a decent deal? Seems like it's way overpriced to me because of the high mileage...

Says 'one owner' but this guy is a dealer and has been driving the car for a year.

What's a good price for this car in your opinion?

I don't think the price is far off from fair...but I would need to see car more better.

I'd probably offer between 9000 and 10000.

I would be shooting for 9,000 if it has not had a lot of preventive maintenance and no more than 11,000 if it has had a lot of documented maintenance.

id offer 8500.... and go from there. I'd be happy if I got that car for ~9500 wouldn't pay more.

Ok, so I guess my estimation skillz are pretty good lol

I told him I could do 9, maybe 9,5. He said he would wait a week and could do 10,5

Why does everyone think their ZHP is worth so much money? There's another guy who tried to sell me a Salvage title ZHP for like 11k if I remember right... It had low miles, but still needed some work. It's hard to find a decent deal on a ZHP!

Part of it has to do with the $3900 performance package.

obviously, but think about it... the car's original price was $4X,000, and now the car is worth 1/4 of it's original cost ($10k or so). The ZHP package should add $1,000 or MAYBE $2,000 at most.

Disagree on the 1/4. Can't do it exactly by numbers.

It's hard to find a decent deal on a ZHP!

Therein lies the issue. ZHP owners know what they're selling (most of the time). Good, clean examples are priced accordingly. There are not a ton of these cars out there. The nice ones typically fetch a pretty penny (relatively speaking).

True... but a 2003 non-ZHP with that mileage would go for what, $8,000? This ZHP shouldn't go for any more than $10,000 right?

Yeah. I would not pay more than $10K for this one. And, in fact, it would likely be more like $9K. There are some unreasonable prices out there. I walk.

dont forget this is a dealer.... most dealers are notorious for high prices and they don't know sh*t about the cars... However, some dealers are very nice, they know how good their inventory is, and they price the cars better (lower) than other dealers! good luck ;)

Seams alittle high. I have a customer that just bought a 03 ZHP with 125K for 6500 from a Chevy dealer who didn't know what it was.

Non-BMW dealers with ZHPs are a good place to get a steal. They often don't know these cars like we do.

I agree with you too. The ZHP cars seem to generally carry a $3k+ premium over the standard 330i and even over ones with the sport package. This was about the same premium when the cars were new. I guess if you are a current owner you go with this line of thinking to preserve resale value, but for prospective buyers like us, we don't agree and hope to buy for less. I am also looking at 330i's with sport package and e39 m5's as well before pulling the trigger. I am not sure if the ZHP is worth the premium or not, but I will drive a friends car to determine if it is in my opinion. Also, this car will be a rain car for me to limit miles on my main car, so I might not notice the subtleties. I am hoping the ZHP is a noticeable improvement over the 330i sport, so I can forget the e39 m5 which is my first choice since I have had several in the past, but would like to avoid the more expensive repairs and lower fuel economy for this car. Also, the m5 pushes me past my self imposed budget too.

Of course, if I become an owner my opinion will change in regards to value :)

You could not have seen it. I created it after I saw you needed help. I think it could be a very useful thread, so I put it up. Thanks for creating the scenario.

Good luck finding the right car.
