I installed my HID kit yesterday and I noticed that they flicker and sometimes turn off ONLY when the engine is running. I searched and found a few possible answers. Some threads said that it could be because I used the stock wiring harness and others say I need an LCM flash/resistors. Can someone please tell me if I need a new wiring harness, LCM flash, or if I just need to install resistors? Thanks alot everyone

BTW, I have a facelift coupe.

I would just set up a simple relay system to take the load off your headlight circuit.

A relay won't work if you have an error on the dash. Thanks for the input though.

Sounds like you need anti-flicker resistors.

I was having the same problem w/ my xenons. Come to find out, my car didn't come with xenons from factory, although the ones installed are OEM. A buddy of mine who's all techy said the car needs to be reprogrammed but I could use error code eliminators until he got a chance to reprogram/recode the car. He had a set and sent them to me. Once installed everything has been perfect.

These are what he sent me.

Do it right and get your LCM coded to enable xenons

If you're referring to me, I have every intention of doing just that but my buddy lives a couple hours away and I haven't had a chance to meet up with him.

Ok. So HID is fancy for xenons?

(obviously lighting and electrical stuff eludes me)

Yes.

HID= High Intensity Discharge

Xenon is a chemical element with the symbol Xe and atomic number 54 (cite: wiki).

I'm guessing that there are other types of HID sources.

That is true. I was referring to the fact that Xenon's are High Intensity Discharge lights, so people call Xenon's "HIDs" interchangeable (correct or not). I would say that Xenons are HIDs but not all HIDs are Xenons.

The aftermarket HID kit I have installed in mine do not flicker but causes the "light out" symbol to be on when the headlamps are off. As soon as I turn on the headlamps the "light out" goes out.
