View Full Version : ZHP versus 330i Sport: How much of a premium today?

Hey guys,

I am new to the forum and considering purchasing a 330i ZHP. I was originally considering an e46 M3, but my self imposed $15k budget limits me to high mileage M3's or ones in less than great condition.

My next choice and probably more logical is the 330i, since it has 4-doors. I am only interested in cars with the Sport package and manual transmission. I am aware of the differences in the ZHP cars and was curious how much more money is a comparable 330i ZHP versus sport in the same year, mileage and condition?

What is a good price for a 330i ZHP with less than 100k miles? Also, I see posted on the forum many times that the ZHP cars sell for more on the East Coast versus elsewhere in the country. Why is this the case?

TIA for the help!

$14k to $18k is a pretty good Target price. I think East Coast prices a a lil higher due to availability.

There's a thread somewhere, I think it might be in the new member section, that shows how much we all paid for our cars. I payed 17,000 for mine with 46k miles and fully loaded minus nav. You can definitely find a nice ZHP for your budget of 15k.

ZHP versus 330i Sport: How much of a premium today? Realize that the ZHP package, though "Not Special" was a $4,000 package.

How much more is the ZHP premium in the used market? Thanks

Yes. The difference would appear to be about the cost of the Performance Package ($3900).

A good deal IMO. You can't turn a 330 sport into a ZHP wannabe for $4k

Back in the day, i turned my old 2001 325i sedan into a ZHP lookalike. I actually had to facelift the car to do it. At the time, the ZHP had just come out, and it was waaaay cheaper to spend a few $k doing this than to buy a brand new ZHP...

Here's one within your budget and under your miles limit.

It will cost you more then $4k to backfit a ZSP with all ZHP options.

+1. That's a decent price.

Within driving distance from where I work...

Darn! I was hoping the ZHP package would experience depreciation similar to the base 330i itself, at least from a buyer's perspective. Of course my tune will change if I become an owner.

I had a 2001 330Ci sport/with 5 speed stick and loved it to death. Now I have a ZHP coupe 6 speed and can't even imagine going back to the 330 sport. The Z is worth every penny and then some just for the driving feel, alcantara, the exhaust note and the other goodies it has. As others have said, it's not going to appreciate like a high end hand made Ferrari, and I don't think it should, but it is a "limited edition" E46 and arguably the best all around European sports sedan ever made. So if you have a chance to buy one that has been well cared for, take the plunge and you will quickly forget about the 330 sport package.

the e39 M5 would probably have something to say about that...

True dat, but if you ever need any M-specific parts you'll be singin' the blues and your wallet will be hurtin'.

Very true. Your wallet will be singing the blues, especially when it comes time to put liquid go in the tank.

There is an MPG thread, but mine is 18 MPG with 90% city driving, a lead foot, and an AA tune in an AUTO, which actually increased gas mileage.
