I ordered a new Automatic trans cooler T-stat from AutohausAZ and it stated it was a Wahler oem.
When it arrived it indeed was stamped with the logo and part number. For what the dealer wanted $75 my cost and $90 list I got this shipped for $53.77. Free ground shipping to since anything $50 or more qualifies.

Its in all E46's as far as I know with an automatic transmission. It sits under the expansion tank, so i have to pull it to change it. Basically its function is to help the trans fluid heat up when cold and then keep it cool when hot. Same as a regular t-stat function I guess, closed cold and open hot.

Is this one reason why it's more of a biotch to do the cooling system on an auto, other than the mechanical fan? I thought I remember hearing something about the expansion tank being hard to remove as well. Any thoughts?

It's not been that easy to remove on my auto, or my manual.
