View Full Version : Wheel torque spec

Hey guys, in 30 minutes I am going to have my new tires put on (!!!!!).

I thought the factory wheel torque spec for our wheel was changed a while back, but my searches on this and fanatics forum turned up nothing. With more time I could prob find it but don't have the time.

Anyone know offhand what the factory wheel torque spec was, and if you know if, what it got "upgraded" to?

Always went with 88 ft/lbs. Believe that's what's in the Bentley.

Always went with 88 ft/lbs. Believe that's what's in the Bentley.

Btw, where did you find that? I looked in 300-5 and didn't see it there. Index was no help either.

I found it online....in several places....and it makes sense.

Just looked again and couldn't find it in the Bentley, but I do have an E46 torque spec card from bimmertools.com and it shows it, ironically enough, as 88.5 ft/lbs.

Now I found it-- page 010-11 of the Bentley shows wheel to wheel hub tightening torque as 90 +/- 7 ft/lbs.

Ahhhh...new rubber!!! The Contis gripped like crazy on the way home (even being brand spanking new) and are sooooooo quite compared to the old Pilots. Very happy!

Not to shake up the "known knowledge" or anything, but I came across an oem tool kit from BMW that included a pre-set(not adjustable) torque wrench that was advertised as 128 NM or roughly 95 ft-lb... has anyone seen that before?

Had to do some searching, but I found it... It says 130Nm (95.87 lbs)
I came across it on the tischer parts site:

Well I'll be, my Bentley says in several places:

Road wheel to hub: 100 ± 10 Nm (74 ± 7 ft-lb).
