Hi there. I wanted to say hello and introduce myself.
I'm a new ZHP owner and am very happy with my decision. I've owned a new 2003 M3 convertible and recently sold a 3.0i Z4 which I think looks brilliant but is brutal to drive.
I bought the M3 in 2003 and it was a disaster. Every month in the shop for a week at a time and no one could figure out the issues: engine, transmission, soft top, squeaks, nav. It was demoralizing since this was my dream car and I could finally afford a new M3. Anyway, I sold it within 6 months and vowed to never buy another BMW. The replacement car was a Pebble Beach edition Lexus SC430 which was a great car in many ways and certainly unique.
About 2 years ago I was itching for another convertible and spent 4 months finding my ideal Z4 with black sapphire paint, dream red leather interior and fully loaded. Loved the way I felt in the car but it was no fun for anyone to drive - ride was brutal, no space for anything, and parking the car led to numerous undercarriage and front bumper problems. I sold the Z4 and found a fabulous ZHP 300 miles away in PA.
So far I feel I made the right decision. It has some of the same quirks of my M3 with a squeaky top and iffy soft top mechanism, but unlike the M3 and the Z4, the car rides firm but I don't wince over bumps and I won't have to see a nephrologist for kidney hematomas. I know I wimped out and went with the steptronic but the Z4 manual was a pain with my commute. Anyway, cool car, looks a lot less than 8 years old and no one can believe I paid 19K (45k miles, obviously little old lady driving...)
