Hi guys, I'm new to ZHPMafia but not BMWs. My E36 was totaled so this is what I upgraded to.

2004 ZHP Coupe
-6MT
-Black Sapphire Metallic Exterior
-Beige + Black Cube Interior
-Premium Package
-Cold Weather Package

Never modified, which was a must for me.
135,000 miles but it runs like a top, and looks the part as well so I'm thrilled.

Haha, I always enjoy autocorrect non-sequiturs.

I've been noticing quite a few ZHPs in Seattle since I got mine, always exciting to pass by another one :-)

April 26/27, 2014 (Transaction occurred around midnight).
Private Sale in Southern CA.
'06 TiAg AT Vert w/ Cold Weather, HK, and Xenons (windscreen included).
$13.8K at 75K miles.
Exterior doesn't have a single scratch.
Interior is nearly as nice, scratches on the interior door handles - I assume rings are the culprit.
Dealer maintained and runs like it too, with a stack of records 3/4" thick to prove it.

August 2012, 2006 330ci Mystic Blue on Grey leather 6MT, 62,000 miles. Woodbridge, VA - 17k

Every option minus cold weather and navi. Body in good condition, interior excellent. Excellent bill of health from PPI. Dealer maintained, records to 50k with records from the previous owner for 2 yrs totaling 6k including...
- valve cover gasket
- control arms and bushings
- rear diff bushing
- Conti DWS at 58k
- DISA
- Major inspection at 60k
- battery and positive cable
- etc...

Not my ideal ZHP at first but I would probably still be waiting for a white on brown ZHP coupe with MT. Fell in love with my car and the mystic blue metallic and grey combo.

And it was a fun trip. I'm working on a post for the introduce yourself forum but I flew from Oklahoma City to Baltimore and the owner picked me up from the airport and drove me to her/parent's house in Woodbridge. I spent the first day of ownership on the entirety of skyline drive, then about 200 miles of blue ridge parkway. I had driven a e46 330i auto in my search but the one I bought was the first ZHP I had driven. It didn't take very long for me to fall in love with her during the drive home.

$9400.

Gotta start doing some of that much needed maintenance myself.

Seems like a good price (almost too good) without knowing maintenance and running condition. Usually good exterior/interior condition comes with good maintenance, but not always when the miles are that low. I'd see if they are willing to go lower just for the heck of it but be willing to pay $15 if they aren't. They either don't know it is a zhp, need cash, or have been having a difficult time selling the auto.

Just for comparison, last month a dealer was selling a 2006 ZHP convertible with 122,000 miles. Auto transmission. I test drove, it was in good shape with some paint chips on the hood and scratches on the back seat (looks like they had a dog).

The asking price was $12,000 and it sold fast !

Hi everyone,

I purchased mine 6 years ago with 70k on it. 6mt, Jet blk on blk on blk cube, Nav, rear window shade, CPO. New Micheline PPros. $16k... At the time I kept shopping and they were going for much more. It's been the best car I've owned.

A little redirect here: As some of you know, I've been wrestling with an insurance company over a sand damage claim. I'm looking for zhps in the LA area or within 70 miles of Ventura to prove higher value of my car. They valuated my car at $9400 (now with 143k miles). Should I push for another $1k? Essentially it raises the total loss bar so I don't have to get a salvage title. At this point, replacing the two headlights, fogs and windshield(according to them) damn near total my car!! So, if you've seen any ZHPs in that area for over $10k please let me know?? Thanks!! Hey Boss, is this the appropo thread for this post?

My car was a one owner car that was ordered from BMW while the original owner was stationed in Germany. Most of the modifications were installed by the original owner and I was able to obtain a complete service and mod history from the PO shortly after buying the car.

It's the first car I've ever "bought not built" I suppose but I don't consider that a bad thing in this case. She was modded tastefully and quality work was done so I've no complaints. And I must admit that even though I didn't build it, it's nice not to bust my knuckles and bill fold modding another car again lol. The PO set me up very well though, even walked me through the build list, and informed me that it was in preparation for the stage 1 AA supercharger kit.

After getting back to the states he and his wife had a new child so he sold the ZHP for something bigger. However, I promised him that I'd take care of her and that we'd still team up to take her to track days and I still contact him for help sometimes. It's a great car and I'm lucky to have it.

Hi-

Bought my 04 sedan for $13.5, had 63K on it at that time, now has 74K

It was the first and only BMW I ever looked into buying, was a total fluke.

Car is going to need some attention. Not bad overall and should be mechanically sound. I thought I got a good deal, but seeing well sorted examples in this thread for 6-8k have me thinking twice. I'm going to ask this in my intro thread as well, but any advice on removing a clear bra that has been baked on after years of sitting outside in the sun? Heat gun isn't doing the trick

Wired for heated seats

Interior condition: 8.5/10 - some scratches on center console, pealing/stained A pillars, vents flop around when I put the air on full :p , 1 barely audible metallic rattle that I can't locate for the life of me.... but I haven't given up yet.
Exterior condition: 7/10 - 2 rust small rust bubbles, badly scrapped underside of bumper, paint to be expected from a DD east coast car, diffuser needs a respray, 1 dime sized dent, chipped rear roundel, faded/dry headlight lenses, faded lower grille, very minor hood rock chipping, dead windshield cowel, broken clip in shadow line trim
Mechanical condition: 9/10 - Vanos, VCG, NGK plugs, DME flash, cabin/intake filters, diff/tranny fluid flush, a lot more that I'm forgetting, absolutely zero leaks of any sort. Some under body rust on non vital components.

EXTERIOR: 9/10- Paint still shines like a 30-50k car. Front end had typical small chips. Used dr color chip to clean up

I spent over 6 months trying to find a 330i in mystic blue. For the great condition and the brand new engine I was very happy with the price I ended up paying

Picked up an automatic ZHP for my fiance:

Year: 2004
Mileage: 98,xxx
Purchase date: 1/21/2015
Location: Charlotte, NC
Price: $6.8k

Black exterior
Natural Brown interior
Navigation
Xenon headlights, rain-sensing wipers
Factory Alarm

Interior condition: 8.5/10
Exterior condition: 8/10 - medium sized dent on passenger door, faded/dry headlight lenses, faded lower grille, busted up windshield cowel, roof is faded (probably needs a respray) - overall the paint looks good - was a florida car, then NC
Mechanical condition: 7/10 - Has some leaks (hopefully just the typical ones, and not a pan gasket), tranny needs to have fluid changed, intake boots need changing, don't know if CCV ever done, suspension all original (most of this crap is pretty typical unless buying from a fellow enthusiast on the forums)

I thought it was a pretty sweet deal. Can't believe this fell into my lap after I also got the crashed NY car for ~$3k.

Year: 2004
Purchase Date: 3/25/15
Mileage: 145k
Location: Lancaster, PA (Private Seller)
Purchase Price: $6,800 (Seller was asking $7,800)

330i, 6MT, Alpine White, Natural Brown Interior, Xenon Headlights, HK, Rain Sensing Wipers, Factory Alarm

Interior: 9/10 Very light wear on the drivers side seat and armrest, besides that the interior is in excellent shape.

Exterior: 9/10 The body of the car is real clean. Was always garage kept and never driven during the winter. Paint looks excellent for being 11 years old. You have to look real hard to even find a paint chip on the front end. There might be one little one lol. No dings or scratches that I have seen.

Mechanical: 9/10 Car runs and drives excellent. PO's have always kept it up on proper maintenance. Overall i'm very pleased with the car in all three aspects.

Got one for $4000, black, natural brown interior, 175000 miles. needs a few things, vac leak (fixed), weak headlights (fixed with TRS upgrade), interior cleaned and detailed (not done), exterior has a few dings i can pull out later (not done). Wheels have rash ( later after I get winter wheels and tires). Steering wheel is trashed. I think I will have to put in around $1500 in parts to make it like I want it. After fixing the vacuum leak it runs like a champ. It was running rough when cold at idle and gas mileage was terrible. So far I have about $300 into it.

Picked mine up today: $12k

2006 330cic vert SGM/Black Leather with 122k
6MT, Cold Weather, Premium, Xenons
BMW Performance front Brakes, new tires

A few more miles than I was hoping for, but in great shape with a clean history. Bought from a dealer so no records but Carfax shows regular dealer maintenance throughout its life and it passed an independent PPI. Paid $12k, probably a little high compared to some of these deals but a grand under bluebook. How'd I do?

Year: 2004

Purchase Date: 5/21/15

Price: $7.8K

Black Sapphire/Sand
Cold Weather
Bilstein Sports, looking at FSD2100 to replace current shocks/struts.

INTERIOR: 8/10- Leather is in good condition overall. The PO appears to have used some sort of leather paint to cover up the damaged leather areas (console, driver side bolster). Trim is in great condition. Alcantara wheel appears to have been regularly cleaned.

EXTERIOR: 8/10- Paint cleans up well and puts on a good shine. I need to purchase a buffer and take out the swirls, seal and wax. Front end had small chips from typical DD road wear.

I looked for an acceptable mileage, to me, black sedan for about 4 months. For the great condition and mileage I was pretty pleased with the price I paid. Now to spend the next month or two with preventive maintenance for my peace of mind.

Man, people have scored some awesome deals - especially the cars with a few miles on them. Very impressed.

I just paid $14,700 for a 2004 Vert 6MT, Titanium Silver w/black top and 41,000 miles on the car. It was a low-mileage Colorado car for a couple of years, then spent the next eight years in Louisiana. It'll be 11 years old in August, so well under 4,000 miles a year on the car.

I bought only having seen a few pics on AutoTrader and trusting the seller was disclosing defects. In hindsight, I think I paid a little too much - especially after seeing the prices some of you guys are paying.

I knocked the seller down a couple hundred knowing about the wheels from the PPI. After getting the car here, and seeing some of the issues, I would have tried to buy it for another $750 or so less - for a total of a grand. I think.

It'll need tires sooner than later; front/back aren't matched, and even the Eagle F1's on the rear look different. Not sure if it's because they're actually different somehow or if the tread on the right-rear is so worn much more. The two front wheels will need refurbishing to fix the curb damage, the front fascia will probably need to be repainted, the passenger side mirror must have been repainted because I found overspray, and the whole car needs a little paint correction. Other than those relatively minor (fixable) issues, the car appears to be in great condition.

Yeah, my 2 year old won't get to ride in it until he's out of car seats... He has got to be one of if not the most messy and destructive child on earth.

You know every car guy says that about his/her son or daughter once he sees the horror unleashed on a car's interior, right? It's incredible what kind of mess a 2-year-old with a ziplock bag full of Cheerios or Goldfish can produce. What's funny is that before I had kids, I said, "There's no way I'm letting my kids eat in the car. It's just not necessary." Riiiiggghhtttt... It comes down to a simple decision: It's either the car interior, or our sanity. ;)

My kids are 8 and 10 now and I finally have the very clean ZHP, and my DD that I can now keep pretty clean. My wife's DD... Not so much.

Paid more than the budget my wife set ($10k) But the color/mileage/condition and buying from a dealer I said, just go for it.
Exactly the same thing here. I was shooting for about $12,500, but once I saw this car with the low miles and condition, I had to have it. Totally obliterated my budget and then some - especially if I figure in transportation and taxes/registration. Oh well, we only live once, right?

Cheers,
SC

I purchased my 2005 330Ci ZHP with Oriental Blue Metallic paint and Black leather interior from (technically) the second owner. The original owners sold it to the second owner the week before for $12,000 and he turned around and flipped the car to me. The car was up to date according to BMW's scheduled maintenance, but we all know how skimpy that can be. Otherwise the car was in great shape mechanically and aesthetically. It had been garaged all its life.

I bought mine in October 2014 I believe, SINGLE OWNER vehicle with insane documentation on all work done (most at dealer). Vehicle had euro tails, clear sides and fronts. Immaculate interior.

2005 jet black/black interior
Mileage at time of purchase: 89,xxx
Price paid: $14,500

considering how well the car was cared for and it was a one owner car, IF i did overpay, i didn't care.

as far as my first ZHP, purchased in 2011 and sold in early 2014. interior was in great shape, front bumper needed a respray (which it got), needed a DME update, and had a few very small dings which easily came out. very well taken care of car again mechanically and I roundabouts knew the owner who was notorious for well taken care of cars so buying it was an easy choice.

2004 grey/black interior
Mileage at time of purchase: 88k

Mileage at time of sale: roughly 130k
Price sold: $8.3k

Interior 9/10 Has alcantara with cold weather package with new tires.
Exterior 9/10 Very small spidering from the lower front bumper's paint, hardly noticeable.
Everything is stock sans the m3 upper strut bar, lowered on H&R Race springs.
I feel I got a great deal because of if's condition. Of course I flew there, had 3 nights in hotels but only cost cc point, not $ so that could have been another $1k in expenses.

This may get buried but I thought I would give it a shot anyways. As I'm doing research for my purchase I want to see what others are paying so I came here but it's a pain to dig through the 60+ pages mixed with good data and comments. So, being the nerd that I am I made google form that can be filled out so that we can collect the data all in one place.

I've also made a fun plot that once people start entering data will plot purchase price vs. miles at purchase. I could make more but I thought it was a good place to start.
The chart can be found here (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Qa-IsFZg-R6xwzNLtjOnvJ8D5MAouVohCgncUqVUcRY/pubchart?oid=511216596&format=interactive).

Very cool, I did the same research when I was about to buy but didn't make the cool forms, just an excel spreadsheet. For what it's worth from the research I did of the 8 ZHP's that were purchased within 12 months of the my Imola with similar miles/6mt/condition was $11,800. I ended up paying $2k more than that average but ultimately I feel I got a great deal because of its overall condition. Also mine was a 1 owner so that played a big part as well.

Pretty much my story as well...I figured I paid a little bit of a premium for the 2nd "owner" to basically ship it from California to TN for me since he only had it for a couple months. With the 1 owner before that and absolutely perfect condition the paint/car is in I ain't complaining. EAG could have sniped mine and made a pretty penny at 58k...

So, if a few of you want to test it out please do. Link to the form is http://goo.gl/forms/2iW70BOs5x

If you simply want to see the data collected, go here (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Qa-IsFZg-R6xwzNLtjOnvJ8D5MAouVohCgncUqVUcRY/edit?usp=sharing).

I guess I should post in here since I never did.

Last year I paid 14,500 for a 2004 Imola and beige sedan, 6mt, 86k miles.

The car was very clean and well maintained with a few well-chosen mods. It wasn't a bargain but I was willing to pay a premium to get a car that needed nothing.

I never posted here before.

2005 IR sedan bought in Feb-2015 with 138,000 miles. Paid $9,100.
At time of purchase, the car needed 2 rear tires and parking brake adjustment.
Other than that, very clean car in great shape.

I was just thinking about this! Very cool idea. I'd love to see what correlation there is between all the different factors.

EDIT: It would also be nice to see if you could add other factors like number of owners, interior, packages, etc with "unknown" or "N/A" options for each. I just like comprehensive data :p

Hard to say. The "Unknown" or "N/A" options gives them a way out if they're feeling lazy. Most of the guys here probably know most of that info and are far from lazy.

Overall condition was good other than the front end being peppered with some small stone chips and a few small scratches. Cooling system overhaul, All drive belt and tensioners were replaced, and fuel pump changed with the last 10k.

Needed: Valve cover gasket and CCV done, tires are 40% rear and 80% front.

Car was a southern car until it was brought to southern PA 2 years ago.......This is a big plus for me being in upstate NY where everything just rusts away.

Purchase location: Atlanta GA
Purchase Date: Feb 2016
Year: 2005 Convertible
Transmission: Auto
Price: $10,400
Mileage at purchase: 87,xxx
Exterior Color: Alpine White
Interior Color: Natural Brown/Black
Exterior: 9/10 Has an original 3M invisible bra that absorbed most of the dings & scratches, but the bra itself is badly faded & cracked. Once I replace that all will be well. The front M-Tech bumper had been repainted and looked great, but damn it if I haven't figured out how low it hangs. I've hit way too many curbs and now need to have it repainted again. The lower M-Tech grill was faded, with just one area of damage, but I'll deal with that when I paint the whole thing. The wheels were all perfect when I bought it (but now I need to replace one--not really my fault...).
Interior: 9/10. Leather interior nearly flawless. Alcantara wheel just needed the magic eraser treatment real bad, but is in good shape, as is the shifter boot. The black cube had some very noticeable scratches, but I did a cheap touch up with some ink jet refill ink (!!) and it looks pretty good now. There was an area of dead pixels on the navigation screen, but not really a problem. And there's a mysterious chunk out of the carpet in the driver foot well, but it's barely noticeable.
Issues: Needed front brake rotors, and pads all around, but that was easy. Not much for maintenance documentation, but everything about the car was clean, engine hums along nicely, and feels perfect. It was a one-owner car, clean carfax, and I bought it from the dealership that sold it new, so it never got far from home. Never saw snow until I brought it up to Virginia.
I should mention I did not find it by searching for "ZHP". I decided I wanted an AW vert and had to search all AW 330ci verts in the country, and scan the pictures to find the ZHPs. This one was not advertised as a ZHP.

Exterior: 7/10 Quite a few dings and chips. Front bumper is cracked and will need to be refinished and repainted. Wheels have significant curb rash and will also have to be redone.
Interior: 8/10 a few scratches here and there but in pretty good shape for a 12 year old car. Slightly saggy headliner that's isn't too obtrusive now but should probably be taken care of soon. Cheap window tint has to be replaced, its peeling and distorts the view when looking through it.
Issues: As of now, all the issues I have with the car are cosmetic. Mechanically car seems perfect. Previous owner was a BMW technician and already replaced water pump and its associated parts and even included a box of commonly warn out parts he had stockpiled for the future (I will be posting in the future to find out what I have exactly)

2006 330ci ZHP 6MT silver gray metallic. It has the premium package. Not the cold weather, however it does have the xenon headlights and heated seats. Harman Kardon system as well. Bought it with 67,300 on the clock. The exterior I would rate it a 8/10, only because there is two small nicks on the bumper and a few barely visible on the door pictured. The interior I would say 9/10 l, normal wear and tear but no rips or tears anywhere. Used leather conditioner regularly so it's held up rather nicely (the interior has no alcantara; full leather. Not sure if this is all 2006's). I paid 13,000 in September 2016. May have overpaid by a bit.

So, how do you guys who are financing talk to the bank about the car to get them to get on board? I have been pulling my hair out with my credit union trying to get them to buy this car I want from a member here, and just spent almost 2 hours this AM gathering data and composing a letter to them explaining what makes a ZHP not follow the NADA book value. The car I am pursuing is truly exceptional, approaching sort of unicorn territory, and the price reflects that, but based on comps for other sold cars in the last 3-4 months in the ZHP database, and certainly based on the price of the sedan on EAG right now, I think the price is at least not horse-chokingly (pun intended) high.

The bank hasn't said no, but they haven't pulled the trigger yet, either. Any help would be appreciated.

Hifiguy - give us some deets on the zhp you're pursuing

As for financing, because banks and c unions generally only do auto loans up to the retail value of the car, the next best option is a personal loan. With my cu the difference in rates between auto loan for a car this age and personal loan is only 1%

hickatew
01-19-2017, 12:01 PM
HiFiGuy, I'd check out Lightstream loans. I'm in the process of buying my ZHP with them and they're offering reasonable rates (market minimum to 5%). Haven't balked at the price yet which is admittedly high for a ZHP but the loan hasn't closed yet. Will let you know if anything changes.

Hickatew - nice site but mofos tack on an extra 2% to the rate if it's from a private seller. Yowzers

NYRhockey yeah? missed that bit of fine print. I ended up getting a rate of 4.34%, not terrible all things considered (13 yr old car, considerably north of market value, etc.)

HiFiGuy - they did end up adjusting the Loan Amount to the top-end of what they considered the value of this car ($11k and some change). I had to call them and explain the additional packages the car came with as well as the aftermarket modifications (its a DINAN 3 car) to get them to agree to the Loan Amount I originally asked for. Alls good now though! Fully approved, ready to send funds.

Nice work.

Some lenders work specifically with enthusiast cars so gotta seek them out. Woodside is one I've used in the auto industry before.

One of the 2 reasons I didn't get back into a ZHP after selling my M3 was the local credit union I'd been using for my cars since I got my first ZHP in 2011 was bought out by a bigger national CU. My old rates were never more than a 4.5% on all my E46s and the E90/E91. I'd done 5 used auto loans with them in 5 years. They got bought out the month after getting my E90 M3 so I worked with the local branch that time again. When I inquired this time with the new national based CU that absorbed them, they wanted 13.99% because of the age of the car.

No thanks. :rolleyes

Issues: Adaptive headlights appear to be faulty, as the green light to the left of the headlight switch flashes when in Auto mode. Had no idea what that meant but noticed several on-going drivers flashing their brights at me when driving home at night, so I have an aiming problem too. This will be an expensive fix most likely. It shouldn't be too expensive if you source a used set from a junkyard somewhere. They shouldn't be hard to find.

I wouldn't read into too many owners. My father's 330Ci coupe had 4 owners and 29k miles.

Condition: Pretty rough overall by BMW standards but very sound mechanically. It's perfect for what I was looking for, a dedicated drift car.

Sedan. When it gets a bath I will post some picture. The driver's seat bolster has some wear that keeps the interior from feeling minty. I need to explore some options to bring it up to the rest of the car's standards.

117k '03 sedan MT. Silver with gray leather. Euro lights all around. All coolant and suspension work updated/replaced in last 10k. 9/10 both in and out. Fanatical owner only used OEM or better parts. Detailed service history from day 1. Overpaid a bit at $11k, but condition and maintenance make it a good decision.

Mileage: 93,000
Purchase Date: June 2019
Purchase Location: Toronto, ON
Purchase Price: $12,500
Options: Cold weather package, Adaptive Xenon Headlights, Light cube trim, black leather seats, M3 Steering wheel, Harmon Kardon sound system

Car was bought from a user here actually. The coupe is in sparkling graphite metallic, with Michelin Pilot SuperSports. The car was extremely well kept, with the exception of slight bubbling at the rear drivers side fender, which seems to be maintained well. The car has also had Krown rust protection on the underbody, and an Eonon head unit. The car was better kept than anything I expected, with a ceramic coating and a clear bra on the front bumper. Passenger side front bumper seems to be sticking out a bit, but was not a concern for me. The seller was sure to include a US-spec ZHP cluster with the red needles and MPH readings. There is also a complete log of all maintenance and work done to the car.

PPI was done at RMP Motors in Toronto and showed nothing significant other than dirty air filters. Just bought a set of M-Contours for winter time, but otherwise, very happy with the car.

Was looking for a clean one for about a month, originally wanted a blue with brown interior, but then this one popped up and couldn’t pass on the deal.

Flew into Lubbock, TX and drove the car to NY. 1800 miles, 29 hours of driving

It had the thermostat and CCV replaced, as the seller was prepping the car for his son to take to college. Lucky for me, he wanted a Lexus instead.

2006 - Imola Red/Black 6MT convertible
Purchase Location: St. Louis
Purchase Date: 8/6/19
Price: $21,500
Mileage at purchase: 40k

Purchased as a one-owner from Bimmers R Us after a multiple conversations with the owner regarding condition and implication that it's a deal compared to current BT prices. Got photos of everything but the damage and faults, with the assurance that their attention to detail meant everything that needed attention was dealt with. Well...

Wrong size battery had shop cloths stuffed around it to keep it from moving; screen has a swath of dead pixels; cup holder is scratched to hell, likely from a dog, as is drivers door handle; headlight washer motor broken; LOTS of rock chips, a door ding, chipped paint on one side poorly touched up; no manuals; and a significant part of the bottom trailing edge of the front bumper broken off (not visible unless on a lift), with a current discussion whether it was shipped that way or the transport guy did it. Bimmers R Us has photo of rear underside but not front. It's taken two months to begin to get some of these issues addressed (he's sending a new washer pump), with emails ignored for several weeks. Did I pay too much? Anyone else deal with them?

Ouch. At that price the car should have been perfect. I follow Bimmers R Us' inventory thinking they were another EAG with excellent low mile examples at a premium price that compensates for a no-headaches car. I'll no longer watch their inventory.

Sorry for your experience. And just fyi, an Imola/tan 6-speed with <40k miles sold on BaT a couple of months ago for $16,500 with buyers premium.

Sorry to hear this and my post is not intended to rub salt in any wounds...it's just that my blood boils when I hear something like this happens to someone.

The battery and shop cloths are absolutely unacceptable for a car at that price. I saw these people with cars up for sale while looking for mine, and after a phone chat decided they thought too highly of themselves to be worth the cash. Like way too highly. Reading your experience confirms my suspicions.

I hope they 100% take care of all the issues you were unaware of, including new parts and covering labor, because for that price the car should be flawless. Like nearly roll out of the showroom flawless...full paint correction, replaced worn trim pieces, every nook and cranny cleaned. And that shouldn't be the most difficult thing on a car with low miles like that. (makes me question the mileage...?). If they do not, I would be requesting money back or requesting return of the car for reimbursement. This group makes a big deal about having "premium" cars, so if this isn't rectified, I would say post all over the web in every BMW forum about your experience to warn others, because that is unacceptable.

To me the premium price is for a car that already had everything done over with a fine toothed comb. Something you can hop in and drive and love. Otherwise, you could take the 5-10k difference in price for a different car and replace and do everything yourself. I mean, that's the point of paying more money, right?

Edit: by the following post as I was editing mine, I see you already got a PPI / had the car looked over. This thread is great to give you a general idea for pricing and use for your discussions with them. Just realized I never posted mine, so I'll add it for the crowdsourcing of info.

Yeah, go ahead...rub it in. :-)

Since I posted, B.r Us have asked for a repair quote on the front bumper, which it looks like they will be willing to reimburse. Most of the rest is cosmetic stuff which I can repair myself, and I'll figure out how to get the screen repaired. I did have a thorough inspection done by a very good local BMW-certified mechanic and he said mechanically it is in great shape...no leaks, good brakes and clutch, good Michelin tires, and he was surprised the original control arm bushings haven't even begun to show wear. I could fight to the death with the dealer on every other little thing, but if he's not willing to step up now, I'll just get it done and enjoy a very nice car and he'll end up living with his deteriorating reputation. Hopefully it will eventually appreciate to cover off some of the loss.

Car: 2004 ZHP 330i 6MT
Color: Mystic Blue over Alcantara
Mileage: 108,000
Purchase Date: Feb 2019
Purchase Location: Charlotte, NC
Purchase Price: $10,000
Options/equipment: Xenon Headlights, Silver cube trim, rain sensor, fold down seats, ski pass, Harmon Kardon sound system (ZHP standard equipment)

After looking for a couple months, found the car listed on Craigslist. Seller was the 3rd owner for about 9 months and posted about 40-50 pictures online. I flew up 3 days later, wasn't perfect, but had records dating back to the second owner who bought it CPO from BMW. Drove it 11 hours home to Florida.

The good: decent records, OFHG, valve cover gasket, O2 sensors, thermostat, headliner, windshield cowl trim, and kidney grills all recently done. All black trim removed and painted. Weather tech trunk mat. Previously had a clear bra so little to no chipping up front, Conti DWS tires with >50% tread left, and a fresh oil change from BMW.

The bad: threw an SES light on the way home. The rain sensor didn't work, then found out the windshield had been replaced with an aftermarket one. A/C could barely keep the humidity down in the car on the rainy drive home. The front left tweeter and right rear mid didn't work. The front Alcantara seats had pilling on the outer bolsters. The rear of the headliner wasn't installed correctly and causing the third brake light to hang. The car needed a serious interior vacuuming, a new arm rest tray, new rear Ash tray roller cover, and new cup holders. The trunk had a very scratched spot where it looked like someone used sandpaper to remove bird crap. The clear bra was removed and the tech left 6 inch gouges in the clear coat in a couple of places. The paint also had etching in places from water spots. Vanos and oil pan gasket have not been done. Oh, also, found out all 4 rims were bent (that one hurt).

All in all, was a decent car. Most of the "bad" stuff was easily fixed with some new trim parts and elbow grease. Deep cleaning inside and full paint correction outside. Recharged the A/C myself along with a new radio from the junkyard. And the DME flash took care of the rest. Wheels were straightened locally. I have already logged 7k miles on it. Rain sensor still doesn't work due to the aftermarket windshield.

Dumped my daily driven 83K mile 2013 MB C3004M for 2004 6MT ZHP Coupe, Titanium Silver, Black Cube/Montana leather. 103K miles. This will be daily driven. First e46, but not my first BMW, had an e34 525i that I sold to my BMW mechanic's client at 245K miles.

Drove it from outside Little Rock to my home outside Baltimore just under 3 weeks ago. Almost 1300 miles through AR, TN, KY, WV, and MD and no issues with the car or unexpected meetings with the local police. Thanks Waze/V1!

Hunted for and secured 2+ cases of bourbon along the way. Thinking very seriously about getting a personalized plate to commemorate it... Maybe BRBNRNR, WSKYRNR, or something along those lines.

Discovered it had the factory Bluetooth (it still sucks), the full compliment of manuals including the radio code (!!), and a mysteriously working but nobody knows who's paying for it XM/Sirius system. (!!) Previous owner installed Ebay headers.

Came on CSL-type 19" wheels with brand new Michelin rubber. I'm planning on rolling the fenders to stop the rubbing if I can't secure Style 135s for a reasonable price soon.

Normal wear on the interior, will be having a professional conditioning and exterior detail done within the next month.

Carfax reported minor damage to the passenger side fender about 12 years ago with the original owner, but no noticeable issues. Previous owner was unaware and had no info. None of us can detect any noticeable gap issues or alignment on the fender or hood.

My BMW mechanic looked it over once I got back here and was overall impressed with it.

Carfax showed it was a TX sold car and spent most of its life there with a stop in TN before it landed in AR.

Shows some typical Sunbelt wear on the rubber bits- Windshield cowl and rear window seals were dry rotted. Typical Alcantara steering wheel degradation. Has some bugs with the GM5, but I have one on hand waiting a reflash to correct. Steering wheel is eventually getting sent to Coby for a wrap but I'm knocking out the mechanical issues first. PA Soft just got here today so hopefully that GM5 will be corrected this weekend.

PPI showed a suspected filter gasket leak and slight PS pump reservoir leak, though i have been checking the PS every few days and it hasn't dipped at all. Overall the BMW shop that did the PPI and my guy were all very impressed by its condition.

Just replaced the windshield cowl, the filter gasket, and did a full service today. Flushed engine oil and treated with Lubrimoly Ceracoat, new coils, plugs, belts. Sent a sample of the old oil (seller said it was Lubrimoly 5w30) to Blackstone for analysis. Tomorrow I'll be replacing the PS reservoir and the hoses, and the fuel filter if the weather permits. Not having a garage to work in is a PITA.

Oil in this change is 5w30 Pentosin, mostly because FCPEuro had the oil change kit with the filter. :P

Fortunately for me, a previous owner replaced the filter cap with an ECS aluminum billet cap. I HATE the old plastic ones. I mean, how hard is it for BMW to have put a normal sized nut on top of the thing and make it out of metal??

Paid $8000.

My mechanic thinks it was a fair price, and overall I'm thrilled with the car. The fact that I can turn a wrench on it (and have been) and drive it daily is icing on the cake. I forgot how much fun BMW's are to drive, especially analog 3's.

Yes, I wanted a driver. My M3 only has 62k and is a real queen, so I have some reservations about just putting miles on it to drive it up to the store, but this one will get fixed up and driven. Crazy to see what some of these low mileage, good condition M3s and ZHPs are getting.

I wanted under 150k, but after months of looking this was more the right car and price, so I pulled the trigger even with the extra mileage.

The guy mentioned he had gotten lowball offers in the mid $6000's, but later also mentioned he was flying out to CA in two days to get married and wouldn't have time to sell it after that, so I let it sit for a few hours and called back to offer the $7200 if he delivered it that night. It was only about 20 miles, and he settled and I got a much nicer car than I thought I was going to see. It's been incredible! No major issues, I will likely get it set up this winter and might sell on Bat in the spring. Incredibly fun to drive!

2005 Imola Red over Natural Brown 6MT, Xenon, moonroof, HK

Purchase Location: Austin, TX
Purchase Date: May 30, 2021
Price: $2,000
Mileage at Purchase; 165k
Bought from a close friend

All original car, 1 owner, bought and serviced only at local BMW dealer from 2004-2019. Car sat from 2019 to present day so has some clearcoat damage, faded trim and sun damaged interior from sitting for 1.5 years. Good overall mechanical shape after a tune up, battery and a/c compressor. Needs some cosmetic love but she'll be fully restored in no time.

We need to host a NC ZHP meet up at Spenser's house at some point.I was about to comment that if he does host it, I'll have to make the drive down. But I can't commit to that if he actually does it :rofl

All original car, 1 owner, bought and serviced only at local BMW dealer from 2004-2019.

If you get bored and look through the service receipts there will be a box that says technician and it will have a 2-5 digit number. If you see 482 that was me, I worked at BMW of Austin from 2004-2018, very likely I worked on this car it would be interesting to find out if I did.

I bought my 2004 ZHP with 11K miles for $28K at Nalley BMW in 2007 CPO until 50K. No idea what it costs now, but trying to figure out what to do with it.

Pricing advise please. Looking at two ZHP 6mt sedans. Both in good condition, clean carfax, good service history. Iola and Mystic with similar options. One with 110k the other with 130k. Both in the $14k range.

Based on the recent prices I've seen this thread, these two sound way too expensive. I know the ZHP prices have jumped a lot, but event market information from BaT shows these prices are a bit of a stretch.

5k, auto, silver with 176k miles....

4k immediate mechanics
4k paint work - TBD on if I can get this down, quoting out now as it's just front/rear bump, roof, and one side corner of car.
2k in interior/exterior (cowl, trim etc) replacements

=$15k... could have probably bought a lower mileage really taken care of for this price, but I haven't seen a titanium silver on black + auto for sale on classic.com record in over 2 years, so I went ahead.

I don’t care about making it look new again but I do want to try and keep it as reliable as new, without going over the top

I'm planning to bring mine close to what my M3 currently is condition wise . . . I still have a lot of work to do to get mine to the same level as my M3. Modding/upgrading along the way to make my ZHP even more unique. ;)

Purchased at the end of March 2022 after needing to replace my other e46 after 16 years of ownership

2004 330i
Imola Red over Tanin
6spd
129,500
$12,200

Notable Items:
Rims near perfect condition, brand new tri-stitch alcantara steering wheel, brand new shift knob, brand new battery, brand new tires, extra complete black interior (w/ M3 front seats,) brand new center console, near new center armrest, brand new windshield, near flawless paint and zero rust, Dinan Stage III package (intake, software, strut bar, throttle body,) interior dash essentially brand new - buttons on radio/hvac felt like they never been pressed.

Actionable items that i took care of within a few very busy weeks:

Seats needed new seatbelt tensioners (took from the M3 seats)
Windshield washer reservoir, wipers, and new windshield cowl installed
Debadge trunk
Paint correction (had surface swirls)
Needed new brakes/pads - happily put OEM rotors with Z23s
Needed both airbag recalls taken care of (this was actually nice since my steering wheel and airbag are now essentially brand new)
Trunk shocks needed a refresh
Driver's side window regulator (came with the car)
Driver's side headlight ballast along with new headlight rubber strips that touch the hood
Front bumper mesh replacement (super faded)
New license plate lights/front corner lights/side blinker lights
Balance/alignment

All in all I'm into her for about $14,000 and she is running near perfectly. A very generous friend gifted me his bluebus so the car is now modernized in the audio/phone category. The only thing left is to re-paint the front bumper since its showing some age.

2003 Silver Gray with black Alcantara. 204k miles. $3000.

Drivable but has damage to rear 1/4 panel and some drivability issues. Stuck in limp mode.

Otherwise, the car seems to have been well cared for. Suspension and steering are tight. Car drives smoothly.

Intend to get it running/driving well and use the drivetrain for a wagon swap.

Watching Craigslist, was at a remote car lot at Friday Harbor in the San Juan Islands WA. Commissioned for sale by owner. Shear luck. Caught a puddle jumper over to the island, bought the car and took the ferry boat back. A bit more then I originally wanted to spend but didn't want to end up kicking myself for not making it happen.

That’s funny, mine also was originally a Florida car, eventually made its way to California (via Virginia and Texas), and is now in WA :)

Wait, this was sitting in Friday Harbor? I don't think I can even visualize where there's a used car lot there (I've vacationed there since I was a kid)

Who'd of thunk it. Check out the license plate holder! Supposedly an older gentleman bought it online out of California and had it delivered to the island. He said it was to low and to hard to get in and out of so he commissioned it for sale. Lucky find!
