I'm hoping that people who find what look like good deals will post in this thread. As ZHP owners, who know these cars well, we can provide a service to those who show up here for the first time -- and who are looking to buy a ZHP.

What I propose is this: if you find a deal out on the Internet, and you're wondering if it's a good deal, feel free to post a link to the car right here in this thread. We can pick it apart and sing its praises.

I periodically return to the site of a pre-owned BMW dealer called Enthusiast Auto in Ohio just to watch what the offered prices of ZHPs they from time to time acquire and sell. They tend to deal in nice, clean examples of all series cars and seem to price them accordingly. I don't get the impression they cater to people looking for a deal first and the quality of the car second.
I noticed today they have another ZHP in inventory - '04 sedan, 6MT, 63.4k, asking $17,990. I have some personal knowledge of this company and the guy who owns it. Sometime during early '09 a close friend of mine sold them his '97 M3 sedan. Since that transaction, I have peeked in on the site to follow ZHPs. AFAIK, it is a reputable business and they do move the cars.

EA is known to be on the pricey side. However, I will say that they usually deal in really nice merchandise. My main experience with them is in the E30 M3 market. When I was looking to acquire one, I found EA to be -- typically -- well and above the rest of the market when it came to pricing.

You're on the east coast, so prices tend to be a bit higher. However, for those miles, I think you can do better on price.

Those are not the stock wheels. If I was the buyer, I'd have to find some style M135 wheels to put on the car. If the wheels aren't important to you, though, then no worries.

With those miles, though, there are some key maintenance issues that should have been addressed by this point (at 100,000 miles). Without a service history, there is no way to tell -- for sure -- how this car has been maintained over the years.

My budget is right at were the car is priced at. Trying not to spend too much more that that price. I don't mind the wheels and some of the other mods it has on it. (springs, exhaust maybe?, clear corners and tails) Atleast that is what I can see and read.

Would a PPI from BMW be able to tell me the service history if it was done at a BMW dealership? The carfax shows that it was a leased car for about half those miles and privately owned for the rest. I know service if a big part of BMWs that is what is holding me back a bit, also still owning my DD, lol.

You need to give the last 7 digits of the VIN to a dealer that will pull the service record for you. It's hit and miss. Some will do it; others will say they cannot do it -- for privacy reasons.

A PPI is a must for a car with this many miles on it. The PPI, though, may not result in a service record (again, possible privacy concerns).

Depends who is doing the PPI. By and large, though, it's a comprehensive inspection to make sure that the car checks out.

My buddy does PPIs in San Diego. He looks at everything -- from exterior (and possible paintwork) to engine.

I feel the exact same way. Mods aren't always a red flag if you can meet the PO and get a feel for who they were as an enthusiast.

It's kind of a toss up for me when it comes to mods. I mean, I have seen some people beat the poo out of some cars and them being stock their whole life. Seems like it was just some bolt-ons but I would really need to check it out to see if there were more things done to it.

I think I would rather see a car that has a couple small mods rather than a car with small scrapes and dings and crappy interiors. IMO, the person with the mods prob took care of the car more than the careless person with all the scrapes and stuff might of not given the extra effort to keep up with the car.

White is not a color and is merely absent of color (ROYGBIV)....therefore imola is by far the best color out there. I see...by far...way moar BMW's.....devoid of color (I.e. white) than I do imola....making the imola...moar rare...and therefore moar desieable.

Additionally...I swear my car changes colors depending on the mood of the day.

While I agree with you on why Imola is the most awesome color out there (:pimp), I have to make a correction.
White is actually all the colors together. Black is the absence of color.
Or, if you want to view it this way, white is all of the colors being reflected to the human eye, while black reflects nothing, therefore not showing as a color.


Therefore, BLACK should not have been a "color" option at the dealer. :biggrin

Erik, the car looks nice. Looks clean. That car is in the Bay Area, which tends to be more expensive than SoCal. For my money, I would be offering high $13Ks to low $14Ks. The mileage is creeping up there. Almost 90K miles. In the next 10,000 miles you're going to have some maintenance costs. You might also want to knock down the price a little if you're going to replace those CSLs with factory style 135 wheels.

From what I can see, though, it looks nice. I'd be looking to offer lower than the offer price, though.

Let me tell you what I learned, Nomar, when I was searching for cars this past summer. You could find deals in remote locations. Louisville? Dude, you could easily knock that $15K price tag down. That's just a starting place. You're in the drivers seat. You're not desperate for a car. Make an offer that you can live with. If the seller balks, move on.

For the record, I found that the midwest had the softest prices.

My last car was bought in Colorado. Great experience.

Struck a deal on August 5. I bought a plane ticket that night. Landed in Denver on August 6. Took possession of car on August 6. Stayed in Denver that night. Hit the road the next day. Drove to Las Vegas. Stayed there for two days. Got back to San Diego on August 9.

As a result of the purchase, I was able to pick up a great car, take a cool trip, and meet some great people (Jeff and his wife).

A win in my book. Good adventure.

I will say that the midwest does have softer prices. HOwever, this does come at a cost. Especially here in Chicago/detroit/Wisconsin, we salt the hell out of our salted roads and that coats our underbodies. Ideal place to find one would be Kansas, or Texas where the weather is warm enough that no salt, or no congested areas, so its easy on the chassis.

Second - Priced about right...maybe a lil high.....still an auto...and driven by a female(I only say this as maintenance, hand washing, etc...would be not as common). No one be offended by this. Love the color though.

Third - Looks like you are specifically looking for Auto....so disregard above. I like #3.

OP.....If you're looking for a ZHP...you don't want #3. Chrome rims really don't do it for me either.

Out of 1 or 2....I would take the lower mileage one...but I do think it has a ding....and I think it is a bit over priced.

The first one is a ZHP. Number one looks as though it has a ding between the kidney grills. The price is too high (though I understand because it's in Los Altos). I'd want to know about that ding on the hood. I'd be knocking the price down quite a bit on that one. I do not like cars with stories. That car has a story.

Number two is better priced (as compared to the first one) but it's too high for me. I would knock it down on mileage. I've never seen that attract-mode M on the navigation screen before (mine says BMW). Has anyone else seen the M in a ZHP? Do the new NAV discs come with the M? (Just wondering.)

I remember reading something about the M when I was researching firmware updates. I think it was available through aftermarket firmware.

I have the latest nav maps and mine still says BMW.

Non zhp is nice.......but I wouldn't chose it over zhp.

There is some pretty good interior wear on the zhp though......take a close look at it.

There's nothing wrong with a ZSP. Personally, I just think the ZHP package offers more all around performance, aesthetics, etc. Worth being patient and waiting for a ZHP imo.

When you throw in your travel costs, that's a pretty expensive car for 36,000 miles.

That said, it's not what something is worth, it's what you can negotiate. That price is a good starting point. I would not pay the asking price.

Teggy, given the mileage, it seems like a fair price to start negotiating at. You need to kick the tires. Touch base with the seller and find out all that you can about the car. Then start negotiating.

Brakes were done at 80K. CCV went out a month ago and the dealer did a full repair on it and did a full inspection on the car. Additionally it has the DICE ipod integration kit and a set of winter wheels and tires that go along with the car.

He was asking $12,500 for it, but offered it to me for $10,500 for an easy, quick sale (he wants a newer Acura MDX).

Hey Guys! I'm new to the forum here and have been scouting around a little bit for a ZHP. I have found an red 6MT 03' with 100k miles on it for $9800. It doesn't have the original 135 M rims on it and I'm still waiting for some higher quality pictures from the owner. I had a friend of mine look up the VIN and it pulled up 4 owners and a minor accident (No rebuild title)... any thoughts?

Sounds like it could be worth buying. I'd like to see pictures of the interior and exterior. You'll obviously get a pre-purchase inspection (PPI) done on it before you commit to buying it. You'll also make sure that the paint/body work was done properly on the car (where the accident occurred).

I wouldn't pay that much for 133,000 miles even if the car did not have a rebuilt title. There are too many good deals out there without having to deal with the rebuilt title.

The east coast tends to have higher prices. That's a more reasonable price -- as compared to the rebuilt title car you were also looking at -- but I think you can do better.

My suggestion? Hang out on this forum. Monitor the classifieds section. We're always looking for good deals. We post them there. If you're patient, you'll find better deals.

Matt, it's not a ZHP. Notice the needles on the instrument cluster. They are white. They should be red. Moreover, there is no cube trim in that car. Looks to be brushed aluminum.

My guess is that someone modified the car enough to make it look like a ZHP. Notice the clear sidemarkers. They were originally amber. And here's another thing: see the aluminum trim around the windows. They should be black (shadowline).

Also, while I am at it: it looks like the 330i badge is lower than it should be. Ever so slightly. That's indicative of one of two things: either it was once debadged, and the person didn't reapply it properly or, two, it was in an accident and the body shop didn't affix it properly.

I also see the M badge on the car -- to the left side of the trunk. That's an odd place for it. Never seen anyone put it there before.

anyway. Just bought an 05' ZHP black, natural brown leather interior, stock everything besides the cd player. Exterior isn't perfect, but is pretty close, interior is about the same. 66xxx miles when i picked it up for $17k. Just from what i explained, do you guys think that's a decent price? ballpark at least?

Zoom, I always look at the starting price as a place to begin negotiations. A lot of the maintenance has been done. Another point to make to sellers, esp dealers. who come at you with "Hey, it's $1000 below the KBB price" ot "KBB lists it for this price", etc is, to tell them that KBB only states the SUGGESTED starting retail price for used cars by a dealer or a private seller. It's a SUGGESTED point to start negotiations! KBB can not / does not ever research on for how much those cars ACTUALLY end up selling for - NO ONE knows it except the buyers and sellers - which means one is NOT to accept a price "just because" it's KBB or slightly below it.

The price is right. It's an east coast car (where they tend to be more expensive). It has less than 60K miles on it. Less than $17,000 sticker price. You can negotiate from there (we all put a little fluff in our asking price).

Several mods have been done to the car. Your choice on whether you like those. The wheels are fake BBS LMs. Not my cup of tea. But you can replace them with style 135M when you get the car. You can sell the LC Lemans wheels.

Pending a pre-purchase inspection, it's looks good.

Seller has the OEM wheels (curbed) with no tires - will reduce the price if car is sold with those instead of the LMs. Intake - whatever, not a big deal either way. Notice anything else? There's nothing wrong with that kind of mileage IF the car was properly maintained.

A properly maintained ZHP with that kind of mileage still has a ton of life left in her.

If there are good maintenance records, everything else checks out (get a good PPI), and you settle on an agreeable price, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it with that mileage.

If the maintenance records are sketchy or non existent, I'd steer clear.

And you're in SoCal. Lots of good mechanics in the region who can do a worthy PPI for you. Good luck on the PPI.

Plus, given that mileage, they're asking too much. In SoCal, you should not be paying in the $13Ks for that mileage. I'd be looking to pay $10K-$11K (and closer to $10K).

Good to know those kind of miles aren't a deal breaker if the previous owner maintained it properly (and the carfax says it was always serviced at BMW dealers). What is a good mechanic you'd recommend for a PPI and anything else? (I'm in Laguna Niguel but don't mind driving at all if it's worth it) (I just used Solely Bimmer for a PPI of a car I didn't end up buying because they had good reviews online...seemed like good guys) Your right, $13.5k is way too much and I told the guy that and he said he'd go to $12k...so at least he's workable for a dealer...what would you recommend saying to get to that $10-11k range? Hi all..............ready to pull the trigger on a White 2006 ZHP Coupe with Black alcantara interior.. 6sp. premium. car has 32k miles and 2 previous owners. Small town dealer has it and doesnt know if 30k inspection was done. Checked car over, very slight curb rash on front wheels( I could live with it it is that minor). Paint is good (not great) and has 2 small rub marks on rear of trunk lid. Car is strait, but has 2 very small dings in rear quarters. he is asking $24750.00 I have a firm offer of $22600.00........so what say you yay or nay ???????? He is willing to have paintless dent repair done and "buff" the car.

I would want a PPI-- especially if they're not sure of the 30k mile service. You could ostensibly have the same oil in there for 17k miles and/or several years.

Even with a clean PPI, $22,600 is on the high side with the damage/condition of the paint.

I would say nay for now-- I think you can do better...

I don't think the mileage is an issue at all. The car is simply priced higher than I would pay based on the mileage. I'd simply call the guy and level with him. Tell him what you're willing to pay. See if there is flexibility in his price. Don't waste time driving if he's firm on that price.

So, I've known that I've wanted a bmw 3 series with the sport package for a bit. The seat extension does wonders for a tall person, which had me sold. Fitting a tall person + sporty car = win for me. Then, I stumbled upon the zhp and fell in lust with the extra features. So, I am trying to buy one. I've found a potentially good candidate listed locally (east coast).

It is a 2005 black sedan with 90k miles. Brakes and tires recently replaced. It has navigation. It has tan leather seats. It has the cold weather, premium, and (of course) zhp package. They are asking $15k.

I want to talk them down, because the 90k service has not been done. I also would like a professional to inspect it, because it sounds like not a ton of preventative maintenance has been done. I directed the seller to the edge motorworks 75k mile list and they couldnt recall any of the stuff being done. They are the 2nd owner and bought from dealer 3 years ago.

So, basically two questions:
1. Approximately, how much should I try to negotiate?
2. How do I find someone (in the Baltimore/DC area) to inspect this car to make sure it is not going to fall apart immediately?

As to your second question, I'll need someone from the DC/Baltimore area to chime in on that.

As to question one, you'll likely be getting ready to do some preventive maintenance on the car. I know that at 100,000 I plan on replacing the radiator. At 60,000 miles I did the coolant overhaul. This car is probably still on its original battery. I always count on them to last about four years. Anything beyond that is gravy to me. My car is a little over five years old now. I am replacing the battery next week (just because I don't want it to die at the most inopportune time).

I recommend that you contact Mike Miller and get his old school maintenance plan. Go to this thread (http://www.zhpmafia.com/forums/showthread.php?408-Mike-Miller-Old-School-Maintenance-Schedule-for-BMW), where you will find his email address.

On the west coast, that car would probably fetch $13K-$14K. But that would assume that all the maintenance had been done on it. The east coast tends to get better prices for these cars, so the car may be a little overpriced but not by much. However, given that none of the maintenance has been done, it's probably priced too high.

I'd factor in how much it's going to cost to catch up on all of the deferred maintenance and then come up with a price. If you do your own work, factor the discount appropriately.

If either no or minimal maintenance has been done on this car, I would really steer clear.

Maintenance is key to the longevity of these cars.

Most likely it has the original fluids in the trans, differential, coolant system, and power steering. If that's the case, it could potentially mean problems in those components as you get up into higher mileage. Get a hold of Mike Miller's OSMS as Marcus said, and you'll see what I mean.

Thanks for advice and info Marcus and kayger. According to the seller's ad, the car is "well maintained." Then, I started pushing about maintenance. I found out it was all done at a BMW dealer. I don't think they know what was or wasn't done to the car and just did what the dealer recommended. I would assume 30k and 60k maintenances were done there, but a lot can happen in another 30k. So, I will definitely be getting a PPI and trying to get records from dealer. Seller has already indicated that the price is negotiable. I just need to figure out how much I have to negotiate considering immediate and imminent maintenance. In my mind, the cost of immediate (recommended) maintenance has to immediately come off the price of $15k. We'll see how that works out for me.

If it was dealer serviced, then you're going to have a lot of the original fluids/parts in there. Things like trans fluid, differential fluid, coolant, and fuel filter are now considered, "lifetime" fluids/parts which means that they leave them in there until the associated components fail, at which time their, "lifetime" is over.

Depending on what has to be done, I would bank on $1k - $1.5k worth of maintenance during the first 6 months-- if you do it all yourself. If you're going to go to an independent mechanic, double that number. If there are typical issues with that type of mileage such as leaking vcg and/or oil filter housing gasket, it will be even more.

You'll have a better feel when you get the service records and PPI. If stuff like control arms and cooling system have been done, and there are no oil leaks, it would be significantly less.

Not trying to scare you, just want you to have the full picture before you decide.

Big difference between a well-maintained car and a barely-maintained car.

I will say any car over 70k will need to start forking money over. Since i bought my car that had 71k miles on it, it has 82 on it now, i spent about 2k in work. i did oil change which i don't have room to do at my house, fluids change, throwout bearing and a good twice over to make sure nothing is wrong. i'll be going again to get coolant drained and parts replaced cause they don't charge too much for that labor for me and with parts i plan on spending another 1.5 k this year (including aa tune :) )

Just consider this as an added cost to the vehicle.

waterpump/cooling system overhaul
suspension parts overhaul
valve cover gasket/vanos overhaul

This alone is gonna net you around 3k in parts and labor if all is replaced. after this, you have everything golden until another 80 or 90k miles

Time to get some advice from the experts:

2005 ZHP sedan, 60,000 miles, xenon, auto, nav, heated seats, located here in the Bay Area

Carfax report shows a front impact accident.

Took it for a PPI today, and I was driving it when it turned 60k. Goes without saying that it is time for its 60k service. Gravel shield underneath is cracked (probably damaged in the accident), but it appears the accident repairs were done well. Radiator to engine distance were within correct tolerance. Most of what the shop saw they said was normal wear and tear - needs belts, front truss bushings, and front brake pads. The nav disk is missing (so I could not test it – annoying). Both guys in the shop said they would buy the car if it were them.

Other than that, the only thing in need of repair is replacement of one of the xenon units (quoted $1100) – the high beam eyelid is stuck in the low beam position.

Carfax also shows maintenance 3 months after 9000 miles, and again at 21,000; no other data points.

Cosmetically I saw two very small dents in the exterior, the Alcantra steering wheel is in good shape, but the seats show a little more wear than I would have anticipated, and the footrest is cracked.

Dealer is asking $19k, and it appears that it has been sitting at the lot for a while. I have a number in mind; what do all of you think?

That would actually be my top price. I would not buy an accident with 60k miles on it for more than $16k. And, quite frankly, I'd be trying to pay $15k. I'd start there.

I'll give you another data point. I was negotiating with a guy last summer for an '05 ZHP coupe. It had 80K miles on it. Guy hit a deer. The repair work was done well. Car looked good. Agreed to buy it for $14K. Seller backed out eventually, because he could not find a new car to replace the ZHP.

Still, when you buy a car with an accident, you will eventually have to sell that same car. The car has a story. You have to explain that story to every prospective buyer. It really sucks. You find yourself defending the price you're asking for. That's no fun.

Were it me, I would try to find a clean ZHP without an accident.

In fact, we have a ZHP Mafia member on the site right now selling his coupe for $16,600. It's an auto. 63K miles. He's in the Bay Area. No accidents.

Didn't know you were buying sedan cause of kids, in that case you might want to think about their safety with accident/salvage cars, fixed and never as good as original. Take that into consideration. On top of that, just cause its fixed doesn't mean that the accident didn't affect any other part of the car besides the area fixed.

The car pleasecorrupt posted has been on craigslist for a while now. The poster has slowly been lowering his price, I bet they might even take a little less than he is currently asking ($12300) as it seems nobody has picked it up despite lowering the price.

The ad currently says "salvaged title due to minor hood damage", but it used to say something like "salvaged title due to minor accident" IIRC.

The car does look clean however, but it's an auto so I wasn't interested in it myself.

So, I found this car on Cars.com and I was initial just looking for a 330 with a manual transmission. After a little research I found out what a ZHP was and that this car is a ZHP. I've already went and test drove it and I didn't notice anything wrong. I spent some time going through this site and a couple others (Bimmerfest and E46 Fanatics) so I kind of new what to look for as far as problem areas. The first thing I noticed was that it doesn't have the 135 wheels, the ones that are on it are 17" with snow tires so it looks like someone traded it in with their winter wheels on it and kept their 135s. Nothing else really stood out except that the parking brake didn't work well (probably just an adjustment) and one of the window was clicking when it went up and down, but only sometimes. I just talked to the salesman and offered $12k if he would take my truck and pay it off but he hasn't got back to me yet. I think the price is so low because they don't know it's a ZHP :) Please let me know if this looks good or not and if there is anything I should look out for. Thanks y'all!

Yeah, it does have a 6-speed manual trans, even though the ad says automatic. I did call the BMW dealership that replaced the steering wheel and they told me it was a due to the alcantara wrap on it was coming off, warrantee job. Apparently this was a problem with the early ZHPs so the alcantara was switched to perforated leather later on. Anyway, the people at that dealership weren't very accommodating and wouldn't work with me at all. They didn't believe me when I told them that the wheels weren't the ones that came with the car and were only willing to lower the price $500 because it needed new tires. I'm pretty sure tires for this car cost a little more than that. They said they would take a $12k cash offer but I have to sell my truck first to do that. So we'll see. Thanks for the help guys!

Hey guys - This is a great thread! I'm looking to pickup an early 2000s BMW. I came across a ZHP on Craigslist and I'm wondering if it's a decent deal. I'm aware of many of the typical 3-series maintenance items (control arms, PS pumps, coolant system, valve covers, etc.) The one I'm looking at has higher miles (124K) but has already had some of these major items done. The one I'm looking at is an 04 ZHP, imola Red with leather/alcantara interior. Pictures look good. He was asking 12700. I have him down to 10800 (KBB - Medium value). Any thoughts?

Oh, Josh, I certainly understand your comment about last one to two months. When I was looking for a ZHP last summer I came across a lot of unsavory individuals. There was so much nondisclosure taking place. It made finding a car very difficult.

After looking at many cars and having a PPI done on the one I thought I was buying............I purchased a 2004 silver/black leather 6 speed coupe. 84k miles, dealer took it in trade @ 4pm, I purchased @ 8pm. Dealer will do the 90 k service and trans and diff fluid change. 2 wheels have slight curb, they will repair. paid fair money (I think, @ 16,5)

Ya I agree. On a brighter note the owner of the '04 with 63,000 miles lowered his price to $17k, but he says that's firm. I was hoping for $16.5k to keep it within my budget, I'll see what he says.

I'd rather pay Autocheck.com (http://www.tkqlhce.com/click-4193730-10418984). AutoCheck is an affiliate here at the site. They catch more wrecks. And you can get an unlimited amount of reports for a month.

Also, ZHPMafia.com is strict about not letting people sell or distribute carfax reports to others. Carfax is quick to shoot notes to forum owners when people are violating the user agreements customers said they'd adhere to.

The front bumper is definitely sagging. Was the car in an accident? That car is being priced as though it has not suffered an accident.

AS far as the fog lights go I would say you need to replace the whole fog light housing for each one, because I dont think they sell the glass separate from the housing(someone correct me if im wrong). I have seen the housings go from $80-$120. And as far as the bumper sag goes i would need to know more about what the damage looks like behind the bumper to tell, but by the looks of it it doesnt seem bad. You may need to replace some of the brackets, but you cant be to careful when purchasing a car, so keep checking in with the seller and try and ask them about that damage!!! Hope i helped :)

It may have been a low-impact collision. Very likely not handled through insurance.

I'd want the bumper fixed. If it's not fixed, then it will be difficult to tell what kind of damage is lurking behind the scenes until you actually own it. Personally, I would want a discount if I have to assume that risk.

If they "think" that the brake pads and tires are about 50%, I'd be sure to check that closely. They're probably not 50%.

Were it me, I would be looking to pay about $14K. I don't like stories. A sagging bumper is a story to me.

Of course, I recognize that everyone is different. What bugs me may not bug you.

Marcus draws attention to a possible problem. One point is to differentiate between the bumper and bumper cover. If the bumper is affected, it could mean the bumper pistons have been actuated; I believe they are 'one way parts'. Bumper covers are cosmetic, but can be expensive if replaced and then needing painting. There is no dollars and sense substitute for knowing how to take our cars apart...

Since you are not close (geographically) to this car, I would get someone to do a PPI (someone independent of the seller). Or, I would pass on this one altogether.

Knowing me, I would likely pass and wait for another ZHP to come along.

It appears to have sold but it got me thinking. That's the same price I'd be paying if I buy a friend's M3 cabrio, silver gray on gray leather, 45k miles. Perfect condition. Has the 19's, which tho they look good are a serious liability on our bad local roads, both in terms of wheel damage and tire cost.

Both cars have a conventional manual transmission.

I think I would go with the ZHP. So find me another one just like it after I sell my E30 M3........

We know that ZHP well. It's about $1000-$2000 overpriced (my opinion, of course). It has been for sale for a while. Contact the seller and see how low they'll go. I'd like it a lot better at $17,350. I could not see paying more than $18K.

So, I've finally made it down to MD from NYC and got to check out my first zhp. A 2005 black ext/tan int automatic sedan 92.5k miles with cold weather and zhp package and nav. To refresh, I am looking for an automatic sedan. I had a ppi done that turned up some issues:

Exterior: hood repainted not very well, salt spray (assumed) nastiness on hood and a little on front bumper cover, 3/4 wheels with curb damage-one wheel missing bmw emblem, passenger side doors replaced, driver rear 1/4 panel replaced (door and 1/4 panel replacements look good), front bumper cover pulled out at right front-inner fender liner broken. Overall could use a solid detailing.

PS- later ran autocheck that turned up 2 accidents during the current owners ownership

Interior: actually looks very good- small scuff in passenger side cube trim, no spare tire exists

Mechanical: Needs power steering hoses ($600 installed), needs front lower control arm mounts ($400 installed), crankcase vent valve at 5" of manifold vacuum covered in oil ($500 to fix). Due soon for cooling system overhaul, due soon for spark plugs and fuel filter, due soon for noisy drive belt tensioner pulley

Code scan (forgive me, I am trying to read handwriting): ZKE 6C Lin bus - no response driver's mirror, instrument cluster no CAN identification ASC terminal r no voltage, abs level sensor brk fluid, [5E5D, 5DB3, 5DA3] various wheel speed sensors, climate control AUC sensor open circuit (255 times)

Note if you understand the code scan: ABS is working properly per test drive.

I know many of you will likely to say run away from this one. The original asking price was $15k (the max I am looking to spend), which has since come down considerably, but how far SHOULD it come down in your opinions. Also, if you are one of the ones that say run away, point me to a comparable east coast 330i automatic (zhp or I'd even take just sport package and maybe have to join another mafia. I need a car soon.). Thanks in advance for your opinions.

Also, the owner just came clean about the accidents. If nothing else, this ppi experience was great. Really learned a lot and they were very thorough and professional. I ended up using blue ridge sports cars in Baltimore, MD and will use them again if needed.

If I do steer clear of this one, then it is time for an official WTB post.

I personally think the owner was a douche for not advertising the car with accidents. Shows how honest he is =\. But yeah, nickershocker you should run carfax or autocheck before taking the car for a ppi. Kind of goes through the weeds for you unless if you are considering accident / salvaged cars.

I agree about not advertising the accidents-frustrating. With it originally being priced at 15k, I didn't think I would find those skeletons. Also, was excited to find a zhp auto sedan decently close to me. Lesson learned - autocheck purchased.
