Hey guys so I decided to start my own project thread since I did my first project today.

I re-glued my C-pillars. Special thanks to Dane for his DIY thread he bumped for me! Helped a lot! Here are some pics of the project both before and after.

I used this glue...
http://www.loctiteproducts.com/p/14/17/a_cntct_high/overview/Loctite-Spray-Adhesive-High-Performance.htm

Sorry for the crappy pics. They were taken on my iPhone. Before pictures on the car.

Backseat:

And here's what I found under the rear seat:
-46 cents
-2 lego men
-4 pounds of cheerios
-necklace?

Nice work. I recovered mine in a different material and unfortunately it's already fading because of the sun. :( So, in other words, I'm either looking for a good UV resistant fabric or some cheap, black pillars.

Thanks for the kind words guys and girls!

Today I did my A-pillars. I used the same Loctite spray glue which worked very well again. I used my brother's Nikon D90 today too so you guys could see some better pics!

How are the C pillars to take off compared to the A pillars?

HokieZHP
07-03-2011, 12:48 PM
The C-pillars require taking the back seat out so they took a little longer than the A-pillars which just require taking the 3 torx screws out.

How are the C pillars to take off compared to the A pillars?
Ridiculously easy :) One screw and the C pillars are off.
Those three torx screws on the a-pillars are a pain in the ass. And pulling the HPF strips without breaking them is no small task either!

The C-pillars require taking the back seat out so they took a little longer than the A-pillars which just require taking the 3 torx screws out.
You have to take the rear seat out on sedans to remove the c pillar? That sucks!

HokieZHP
07-03-2011, 01:00 PM
As far as just the pillars go the C-pillars are very easy. As spence said the torx screws are a big PITA. I just wrapped a MF cloth around my ratchet so I didn't scratch the windshield and it was all good. Proud to say I didn't break any tabs taking the HPF strips off either :biggrin

I took the rear seats out since that's what the DIY said. Plus it gives you a chance to clean out under them and find some nice jewelry. Taking the rear seats out is very easy though. Took me less than 5 minutes to get the seats out of the car.

Oli77
07-03-2011, 01:17 PM
I remember Dane's DIY on the C pillars, and I also think i remember him saying that it is not necessary to remove the back seat (unless your looking for jewelry ;)).

Could you have removed the C pillars without taking the back seat out?

danewilson77

That picture also does a poor job at showcasing my 35% tint I had done. I'll try to get a better pic up. I just realized I never posted a pic of that even though it was done a while ago.

The beige interior makes it look a lot lighter than 35%.

Wanted to ask you guys a question without starting yet another thread. My little brother (the subaru legacy 2.5gt owner) wants me to stickerbomb my Thule rack fairing. What do you guys think? I kind of like the idea personally and I think it would look good but at the same time I feel like it may stray too far into the Subaru rally and dub scenes. Opinions?

HokieZHP
10-04-2011, 03:09 PM
Thanks! I try and do a full detail with everything you can think of at least twice a year. My normal routine at home is wash, clay and wax. At school here it's just a wash and occasional wax. Especially since it's getting to be winter it's time to get the sealant out.

The paint on the car is actually VERY good for being 8-9 years old. That's what really impressed me when I saw the car for the first time.

no rinse? idk sounds questionable. what product are you looking at? i'd say your best bet is just to holler at that gas station as needed and learn to live some what with a dirty car over the winter months. they do past semi-fast and soon the girls will be laying out on the drill field and walking around in skirts again.

when i wash my car in the winter at my house, when it's say 30's-40's (above freezing) i wear plastic gloves and it makes it a little more bearable on the hands.

Alright so today was a brake day. I changed out all the pads to the Z-Rated Metallic Ceramic pads from Bimmerworld, added Bimmerworld V2 stainless brake lines and Super Blue brake fluid. Here's how the day went...

Woke up at 9am to go browse junkyards with my friend since he was changing all the fluids on his grand cherokee. Found some stuff for him. Went to my friend's garage...

Car in the air with my friend in the seat

Decided to hit my lugbolts with some rustoleom spray paint. Gloss black. They look AMAZING now!
http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq109/maxx919/2003%20ZHP/811108fd.jpg

Then my friend suggested I spray my calipers yellow so I said what the hell and did that too! If I don't like them, I'll strip them and hit them with black again.

Didn't get a pic of the lines but they're in here...
http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq109/maxx919/2003%20ZHP/460bc768.jpg

Full day of work. My knees and back are killing me but they're done and I just bedded them and they are awesome! They squeak some but I'm guessing that will fade as they break in more. They definitely stop the car a lot quicker than my old pads!

Thanks guys! I ended up having to use engine enamel for the calipers so I'm not expecting them to last long. When they do eventually flake off, and depending on whether or not I like the yellow, I'll most likely have them powder-coated the color I want. They look good now though! The lugs look 100x better now, having been re-sprayed.

So today I installed my new Tri-Stitch ///M Coby Wheel and stripped and re-painted my calipers.

I ended up using a wire wheel on a drill to completely strip the calipers of the yellow engine enamel I used and the stock paint in the areas that I could get to without removing the caliper. Then I used my G2 caliper paint kit that I got at tirerack and hand painted the calipers with this paint. Pics don't do them justice, they look amazing! Much tougher and better looking finish than before.

Little update. At SigFest BP was kind enough to do some coding for me so I had the following done:

-Clutchless start in neutral
-Fogs on with high beams
-One-touch windows close with lock button
-Disabled ignition ding

I also got my fenders rolled with the help of Justin Wilson, they're nice and flat now.

Installed these which I got at the meet!

I just put 40% on mine, not what your asking, but it will give you some idea. It seems that 35% is generally a number many people go with, but I wanted minimal hassles with front window darkness so I chose something lighter. I have pics in my project thread. I'll find the link.

So I am debating between coils and an intake and exhaust. I need some input.

I'm either going to get Bilstein Pss10's or possibly a cosmos intake and an exhaust (not sure which exhaust yet). Which do you guys think I should get?

johnrando
08-03-2012, 09:50 PM
I'll bet a lot of people say handling before speed, but that's not why I'd say coils. I'm saying it cuz it gives you both handling and looks. Double bang for the buck. I actually got an intake first, then suspension, then exhaust (of those 3 things, there were other things thrown in there). Another way to choose is which is on sale at this time.

Not really. It fits pretty well. I will have to put a couple washers in the rear center skid plate because it just barely touches the exhaust when I'm around 1.5k-2k rpms and the low frequencies are going through the pipes making them move.

You can hear the exhaust alone until 3k or so then from 3-4k you hear both and after that it's pretty much all intake that you can hear. I like it so I'm going to keep it for now.

So a little update since it's been a while. Tires are still amazing! A lot better than the DWS's on there previously. Just took the car on a roadtrip to DC and around the area so she got a little over 1000 miles put on her.

Dropped her off tonight at my mechanic's to have the CCV and oil filter housing gasket done and will pick her back up tomorrow afternoon. Also tightened up my Hotchkis sways to the maximum stiffness settings...WOW what a difference. The car corner's much flatter. I love these sways!

Just saw earlier today that my front bumper has a huge crack in it dead center under the lower grill. I think it's from my recent run in with the late night racer where I had to swerve and ended up slamming into the curb and shrubbery. So I'm wondering what to do about it and whether or not it's worth the almost $1k to get a new bumper or try to repair and respray this one which would come to almost the same cost.

Any ideas?
