looks like a fantastic car but IMO it's ruined by the automatic tranny

Nothing wrong with autos pal. Many people choose them for very good reasons. They have good longevity if proper maintenance is done.
Many members have autos. Be mindful of the company we keep.

Plus San Ramon is not far from San Francisco. We're talking terrible traffic in that area. Makes a lot of sense for that transmission. Hell, I drove auto tranny when I lived in San Francisco.

Yes, transmission type is a preference rather than a defining charactaristic. I, too, have owned auto-equiped BMWs.

I can totally understand that scenario. I'd hate driving a stick in SFO in traffic like that everyday, too. In that case, I'd probably...
Move.

not from what I can tell, thought it might of been specialty but then again none of them match the profile

The plate says "BEEMIAN."
California plate. It's one of the older blue plates.
The owner, Greg Belemjian, looks like he would have sold it in March 2007 if someone had made him a good offer. Anyhow, looks as though he would have made a good ZHP Mafia member. See one of his post from more than three years ago (post 10):

The car has been on the market for some time.

Looks like Greg had the transmission replaced at 19,200 miles. It's been no problem since then.

Ah I stand corrected. In low res the plate reminded me of a nevada plate. Seems like the style 135s on this is gunmetal and possibly resprayed, or are my eyes failing me
