I'm so undecided between the zhp knob and the performance knob

Are you talking about the Silver performance knob? I'm having mine installed today along with my performance shifter so I can report my opinion on it once I pick it up after work today.

That's my plan as of now haha. Will try both out as I will still have my stock knob.

Loved my performance shifter on my old 5 sp compared to my ZHP. Curious what you'll report back.

FYI, Turner motorsport sells this for $69.00 all the time, but their shipping can be cheaper. http://www.turnermotorsport.com/showproduct.aspx?ProductID=1844&SEName=genuine-bmw-shift-knob-black-leather-zhp-style-choose-5-or-6-speed

I saved four entire cents!

I, too, received the sale notice; & man, am I tempted! For some reason or another my car didn't come with the standard ZHP knob, but the taller, all-black leather 6-speed M knob.

Anybody have a spare (say, from a SSK upgrade?) that they want to be rid of? :biggrin

But Tischer is $65 shipped...

Also, I'm pretty sure this is the normal Tischer price. I don't see how they call this a "sale." (granted I paid $60 for one last year, and in 2009 as well)

Thanks Spence. I didn't know... I haven't looked at the ZHP shift knob at all. I was worried this was going the way of the performance strut bar and was going to become difficult to get.

Putting sale in front of something does just that, drives sales. It's amazing what people will do with the right wording. Regardless tischer has good prices

Yeah I got the email and thought to myself, man I remember paying similar for one a year ago! lol

No doubt! Can't beat the price.

Tischer's a great place for parts but they do use funny advertising language. I like when they say free shipping on oil until they say in addition that shipping is included in the price! The knob has been the same price for years going by memory, so I agree that the sale price is to increase sales. :D BTW, I love the weighted knob. Feels great.

....but, it wasn't. When I put it in my shopping cart and etc., etc., they tacked on $14 shipping. I'm gonna try again.

EDIT: I cannot seem to get this thing from Tischer without $14.95 shipping costs for 'standard ground'. REVEAL YOUR SECRETS.

I had this same problem when ordering the oil change kit that was listed as "free shipping".

I emailed them and Evan emailed me back and explained that they remove the shipping charge when they process the order.

It worked out fine for me.

Ok so I picked up my car today and got to drive it around. I love the SSK! The shifts are so much crisper and cleaner. I like the shifter too! I'll be putting the ZHP knob on there later this week/this weekend and compare. So far I'm loving it though!

Correct.....I ordered the oil change kit recently too. Free shipping but they tacked on a $4.95 "handling fee". The 6 speed ZHP knob (p/n 25117896886) is $51.23 here....

Even with their shipping charge I bet it would still come out cheaper than Tischers sale price plus handling fee.

There's something aesthetically disturbing about the BMW Perf. shift knob in all the pictures I've seen... I'm usually one for function over form, but I think that might be a step farther than I'm willing to go. The ZHP knob should still be an improvement over my gooseneck (I hope).

I think the zhp shift knob is the best one because of the feel, and the identity it carries.

Well it seems to me that the car is made up of leftover parts, so perhaps that's one reasoning...

It IS a leftover-made car, just like some other BRILLIANT ///M cars, first of which that comes to mind is the first M Coupe (the dork, the clown shoe, etc...), then there's the NEXT Z4 M Coupe. Who could argue how amazing that car is?

Anyway, back to shift knobs and Mark's lofty statement about the ZHP knob being one of the greatest BMW ever created. What a bunch of hot air! I will now argue with you about shift knobs and how they feel in my hand whilst I fondle them!

Guys, seriously, a car forum is enough pnsnv as it is; we really don't have to take these extra steps to make it as homoerotic as, say, Top Gun (which is my favorite movie of all time, BTW). Not that there's anything wrong with homoeroticism. I'm just saying that we all have great knobs and we should leave it at that. Some like their knobs with a metal ring around it (perhaps the ladies like this?), while others like their knobs perforated (for his or her pleasure?). Some like their knobs to light up at night, you know, to lead the way for potential palpation. Some personalize their knobs, and who are we to question?

It's one thing to appreciate our knobs; it's another thing to be a bunch of knobs.

Fondle on, men. Fondle on...

Sorry, thought of that one in traffic and had to add it. I will stop now.
