View Full Version : Considering something I didn't think I would...

I'm falling more and more in love with my ZHP. And now I'm considering making it my project car and strictly using my Camry as my everday driver. I wasn't wanting to go this route, but every time I see a really nice well done BMW, it makes me want to do it even more. So this is what I'm thinking. M3 front fenders, rears widened. New Imola Red paint. N54 twin turbo engine converted to a bigger single turbo. M3 rear subframe. 19x11 rear wheels and 19x9.5 fronts. Upgraded fuel system. Upgraded trans (maybe the dual clutch?). Yes, I know this would be expensive, but I was planning on spending a ton of money building a seriously high hp mustang. It won't be a quick project, but with the resources I have, it's doable and would be incredibly fun. Input? Thoughts?

I don't think it's odd at all.

This is Samir's old ZHP. At the time this picture was taken it had a supercharger in it. Today, the supercharger is not in it.

Well, small update. My job informed a couple weeks ago that I need to be prepared to move to Phoenix w/in 6 months. They are 90% certain we are going to open a new market down there. My boss and the owner are flying down in September to look at places and demographics of where they would open centers. What this means for me is promotion, and a big move. So, my car has been put on hold. I haven't even purchased wheels. I've been slowly remodeling my home over the last couple years, and now I need to get everything finished and fast. So all of my finances have gone that direction. Now, if this move works out, then my pay would nearly double. And I'm not sure I'd do this build...I'm thinking E30...but it's still a toss up at this point because as bad as I want to build this car...I love it for a daily driver. Just letting you know not to look for any massive updates about my car just yet! Priorities...and lesson learned. Should have just rented a place since I'm single.

If you get an E30 do what these guys did and put the M5's V10 in it. I love this E30 build. Color is sick too.

I have always liked the E39 M5 as well.

I will be watching this thread to see what happens. Good luck!

As sick as that is...I like the TT V8 better ;) I'm a boost fanatic. Had too many boosted cars not to build another one.

Alright so I've been really debating this lately, and here is what I think is going to happen. To keep the cost from getting too outrageous, as of now I'm looking at getting an E46 M3 engine, building that and putting a big single turbo on it. Upgraded clutch and driveshaft, big brake kit, new wheels, and have the rear fenders widened by about 1.5" a side to accomodate an 11" wheel and having the entire car repainted the same color. I think a fun 500hp BMW would be a fun enough toy. I just need to get my winter car fixed so that I can drive it for the next 8 months or so for when the ZHP is under the knife.

What do you guys think about a flat plane v8 lsx swap (flat plane are what ferrari uses)? They are making 600+hp on pump gas and they make kits for the swap...and I'm very familiar with LSX v8's :)

N54 swap just doesn't make sense to me IMO.

Go LS6...basic motor is 405 out of the box! Add headers and a minor tune and
Your looking at 420 rwhp! Chevrolet reliability and cheap parts!

Here's a LS1 in an E36, this car is a beast

The advantage to these engines is they are cheap, easy to find, and most importantly easy/cheap to fix

It would be above and beyond your basic LS motor...but the details I'll leave a secret. Spent a good part of this day trying to sort out how to make this possible. I'd like to keep the factory gauges, but I've been reading about the problems with the CAN BUS system my car has and converting that to work with a GM harness and sensors. Anyone have any input on this? I'm contacting a couple engine builders this week to try and get some ideas on cost/time frame, etc.
