What can I use to clean the area around the door handle on the inside? I believe it is plastic not sure just want to confirm. Its starting to get grey where the side of my hand rest while opening the door.

303 Aerospace Cleaner followed by the 303 protectant is what I use.

It also works well on the rest of your door panel...and the dash...and almost everything under the hood... 303 rocks.

^^ +2. 303 is one of the few detailing supplies I could never live without. It is so versatile and works really well. the only thing I don't' like it on is leather seats. Other than that pretty much anything goes.

I'm hugely loyal to Griot's interior cleaner. Which is great on plastic, vinyl, and is also by far my fave leather cleaner.

But game to try 303. Who makes and where do I buy?

Griot's interior cleaner works well on most any surface, door cards included.

I usually buy it here cause I am ording other stuff at the same time:

But I actually saw it at Kragen on the shelf awhile back so you may be able to find it locally.

Guys, that aerospace protectant (in post above me) just went on sale for $9.99. Good deal for those looking to buy this stuff.

BMW interior cleaner
Einszett Tiefenplfleger
Einszett Kockpit cleaner
303 Aerospace.

Any of the above should work well.

Yea. 303 is a great product. Check your local boat marina/dealer. The boat crowd loves this stuff.

Found it at our local marina/boat dealer as well. She told me the same thing, and that she gets (relatively) lots of car people coming in for it

I've used 303 protectant for 10+ years, great stuff.

But have a question re the 'paint' on many of the interior plastic parts. In my previous E46 it was black and the coating continually got softer from dirt or cleaner or something and scraped off. In my ZHP I have grey and the nicks in the coating are very visible and I fear harder to match with something like plastikote.

So two questions here:

1. What is the best cleaner to use on that soft paint that wont soften it over time? ie how do I best preserve what I have?

2. For a gray interior, what matches for touchup? And I've already replaced a few easy parts.

thanks-
Tim

Thanks Marcus-
I just wonder what softens that paint/coating. Is it just finger oils or? I have wondered if the 303 softens the coating, or if other cleaners attack it somehow. Would like it to last as long as possible.....obviously!
BTW, Detailed image is great, ordered a bunch of stuff early this morning.
