A day at the races - BMW CCA meet at PIR

This weekend the Rose Cup Races were held at PIR as they are every year during the Rose Festival, great weekend of racing. Plus it was father's day weekend so my dad & brother came down from Seattle to join me, good combo. The local CCA had a corral there so I signed up to park in it both days, enjoy some racing and even get a few laps on the track. Here's a few pics of the BMW corral, the PCA corral and some (wet) racing. Saturday was pretty umm moist, but Sunday was nice and sunny. It was a great weekend after the tough last couple weeks I've had, lifted the spirits quite a bit! Naturally I was the only ZHP there among a few 2002's and all the M's, but I was welcomed and even got some nice love for my ride.

Not only that, but I ran into a girl I used to know and we'll be going out this week for a beer...or 5. She is a "Fan Girl", more or less a pretty face who does promo stuff for a local sports radio station 1080 The Fan. They had a little tent there and she stopped me as I walked by, we chatted, I got some free movie tix and a few texts from her later. Totally random goodness!

Haha I win! I love how they look, it's the subtle touches. And literally every person that looked at the car commented about them, in fact it might have been the only thing that drew anyone to my not so special ZHP. One guy even sneered at them, walking away muttering something about it not being an M car, blah...

Haha yeah, if this douche was worth my time. It's funny, there's two types of people in the BMW CCA, or any CCA for that matter. It's very much like the difference between going to ZHPMafia.com and E46Fanatics.com. This was my first event, first time coming to any CCA function, and for the most part all the guys were friendly and welcoming. But there's always a few people who are just assholes... They think their BMW is better than yours for whatever reason, cause it's an M, or it's a classic 2002, or cause their mommy didn't love them, who knows. Chances are their BMW probably is "better", but I could give a shit less, and I definitely don't need them to tell me about it. And they know EVERYTHING there is about BMWs and especially your car, and they will tell you why. Ahh but I digress... Idiots.

Anyhow, to get back on topic, I have met some BMW CCA jackasses at local events. They tend to be part of a clique. They're fully entrenched in the Club. And they typically think they're better than everyone else.

Luckily, they're not the norm. By and large, I've had good experiences with local members. As you said earlier, most people were nice and friendly. That's been my experience, too.

Just saw your car today in Beaverton. You parked in front of Beaverton Sub shop on Broadway. The stripes looked even better in real life! Are they Vinyl?

Just saw your car today in Beaverton. You parked in front of Beaverton Sub shop on Broadway. The stripes looked even better in real life! Are they Vinyl?

Haha why yes it was! I love Beaverton Sub Station... Looks like Dane beat me to the details, but yes they're vinyl stickers and I think they look sweet. Super easy to apply too, they come in pre cut strips of maybe 5-6 of each color, so you have extras if they come off or get damaged. Each strip is slightly wider than the next though, to allow for thin-wide grills I assume, but they will still work. I used the thinnest ones on my kidneys, perfect fit.
