well guys, i stepped up and bought an 02 x5 today, so the 96 328i has to go. just a quick description:

1996 328i
97154 miles
alpine white/tan 5spd.
done in the last year:
3 02 sensors(one still needs put in, but i have it. engine light is on)
radiator, hoses, thermostat, water pump
valve cover gasket
oil filter housing gasket
i had the rear cross connecting structure (between the tailights)cut out and replaced. it was so rusted and i planned on keeping this car forevs, but... i have pics to documnet the whole process. even cleand up and repainted rockers/wheel lips!
brand new depo xenon w/ angel eyes

two years ago i did all four cornes with all new suspension(oem) but used H&R sport springs(have receipts)

clutch was done by previous owner(friend of mine) at 75k ish

has 18in msw black w/red attack, non-staggered 5spokes with sumitomo 225/40's with plenty of tread. these tires are a little noisy and do have vibration. but nothing major. they are about three years old but seeing how i run a winter set up and average about 5k a year on this thing, they are perfectly fine!
oem 15in wheels with michelin winter x-ice included

needs:
02 sensor installed(bank one. i have it)
brake pads. i believe rears as i did the front a few years ago, but again only have only put 20k ish on the car in 4 years, so its throwing sensor lights(pad sensor and abs/dsc) and i would imagine it is the rear. no idea when they were done last
oil change, im about one bar of green left.
the new xenon's do throw a low beam failure, but i don't mind and you can fix this with a part from depo
everytime you turn the car off, the low coolant light pops up. i have changed the sensor, the reservoir and every piece of the coolant system and it still does it. i learned to ignore it. it does not stay on, just flashes on the obc when you turn the ignition off?
when it is cold, the door lock gets a little sticky. i have a new tumbler that will go with it.

i bought this car when i worked at P&W BMW, a local dealer where i worked for 7 years. I bought it off a friend there who was also in sales. it was bought and serviced there since day one and was super clean which is why he bought it instead of taking it in on trade. he drove it for about two years and then i bought it. since i got discounted parts and could grease techs to help me out i never slacked on maintenance. this car has been serviced by only a BMW tech, or Bill Ballon, a local independent tech for its entire life. it really is a great car and i am confident saying that to a bunch of bmw enthusiasts!

so, if i fix everything and get her 100%, i will list high at $6800ish on the car/craigslist type sites. i know its high for us bimmer folk, but trust me there is someone out there! but, as is i'd like $5500 including all parts. that would leave you needing about $150 in parts(brakes, oil, filter) and some time or someone to wrench. i am flexible. don't have lots of great pics here at work, but i can get them to you easily enough.

please don't hesitate to ask any and all questions. i'm in Pittsburgh,pa 15210
call, text or email anytime!
Cheers!

What a beautiful car. I know some people might not appreciate the work done to the rear, but holy crap. Was that rear just welded on or does it bolt? It looks like you just took a saw and cut off the rear end. I will say that the price is a tad high (i sold my 96 328 with 150k miles for 1500) but comparatively (sp?) it looks like its worth it with all the work done on it. GLWS.

it is a little high for an average car, but this is not an average car! it needs next to nothing and you wont find one cleaner. it literally looks like no one has ever sat in the back! the rear is welded and is perfect. it cost me almost $3500 to do this alone. it was not hit, i just knew i was going to keep this forever (damn kids!)so i wanted to nip it in the bud. god forbid the car was hit from behind and split in half! they get that bad. if you find an e36 around this year without rust there, it will rust eventually. big, but little known about problem with these cars.
