Drove a combined distance of 235.6 miles. Avg speed was 54.6 mpg was 26.9 and i used exactly half a tank. now this inculded some "spirited" moments. hitting speeds of 135 on one ocasion . does the amount of gas used sound right?

That sounds about right...

Yes.....but I doubt you would get 235 miles out of the second half of a tank.
Impressive numbers in fact. Thanks for sharing.

This reminds me of the 230 mile trip I took on my car. Except that my engine was is such a bad shape that it only netted me 21mpg...

I have 280 miles since my last fill and the MPG readout is sitting at 30.2. That's with about 1/4 city and 3/4 local 2 lanes (50 to 65 mph or so). This is a little above average though, my MPG is usually around 28 to 29. Can't complain at all about those numbers.

yea, mine is usually 28 -29 on road trips.. although I haven't checked it in a long time and I installed some Dinan stuff since then... simple observation hasn't noticed a difference though

I saw this thread last night and paid attention today to where I was at 1/2 tank on the way home today from MN. I was at 217 miles with the cruise set at 78. As others have mentioned, I also get 28-29 on the highway.

That sounds about right for most instances xtremco! I've done one trip that I can't replicate as good anymore but I can come close.
The trip is how far I went from a full fuel tank of which I ended up with shown on the fuel left. The distance to empty is what my computer calculated after my trip:

When I'm running around town I usually get at least 400 miles/tank. Sometimes I can reach just past that. I have a different style of driving because anyone else I lend my car to who try to match my fuel economy always arrive back with a much lower number. :D I guess I'm just green on the environment? LOL. I just came back from fuel tonight and drove about 20 miles through the suburbs/city/hwy and returned just over 32MPG when I got home! Distance to empty is just under 500 miles but I know that'll go back down to around 400 once I'm done with the full tank. My normal is 500 miles on the hwy going the speed limit. It's amazing how 5-10MPH extra can change things.
It could be that I had my vehicle custom tuned from a famous tuner in Los Angeles. He flew up here and tuned my car on the dyno for power and efficiency. He leaned out the program and did a whole lot of other things which were conservative. He now has a proper ZHP program for anyone who wants to get it done. I've been too lazy to get my car reprogrammed as it takes an ECU extraction with special hardware to interface with the circuit board to program a ZHP ECU. All of the other E46's are programmable through OBDII port.
