View Full Version : 96 318ti (hoping to soon be 330i ZHP owner) checking in from Iowa City, IA
Hey Guys,
Love the website! Reminds me of when I used to hang out at 318ti.org. Anyways, my search for a 03-05 330i ZHP lead me to this website, so here I am. :cheers
Im from Iowa City, IA and have been a BMW owner since 2001. Ive put 232k miles on my alpine 318ti 5mt, and as much as I love it, its showing its age. Not to mention, I think its time to step up to something with 6 cans! Im newly married as of October '10, and my wife insists I buy a 4 door to accommodate any potential bundles of joy that might be coming... so a 330i is what we agreed on. Little does she know it will be a 6MT with the ZHP package! Muahaha!
Im not sure whats up with the McDonalds hash brown emoticon, but its pretty badass. I think I'll have three...er... make that six. :hashbrowns :hashbrowns :hashbrowns :hashbrowns :hashbrowns :hashbrowns

Dek, welcome to the site, pal.
The hash browns are a tip of the cap to our third member, mwscircle. He's a detailer in San Diego who works on our BMWs. He loves hash browns from Mickey Ds. I thought it would be nice to give him the hash brown emoticon.
We are a big family here. You'll find that we treat each other real well here.

Hi Dek! Welcome to the mafia!
Don't be shy - jump right in!
Good luck on your search for a ZHP. Hope you find what you are looking for - this is a good place to start.
Once again, welcome. Didn't realize you had a 318ti. I love those little cars.
Oh man, don't get me started... I love this car. I don't mean to get all emotional here, but we've been together for 10 years. It was responsible for my first speeding ticket and my first bottle of Mothers. It's seen a handful of girlfriends come and go. It picked up my wife on our first date and eventually drove us to our wedding last October. Being my 6th car and first BMW, its the only one I haven't been excited to replace.
Its nice to find a good group of guys here who are as passionate about BMW's as I am.

Welcome to the family. You don't have to replace the ti, just make it a project car. It could make a good home for an s52.

Dek, you are right about the vibe here being similar to that at 318ti.org. I used to be on the 318ti email list before the site happened. Been a 98' Alpine White 'Active' owner since 1998! My friends keep telling me to get rid of the car being that I now have 2.5 Bimmers. (90' m3 as well). You really touched home when you talked about alll of those memories you have had in (and a good majority outside I hope) of the car. I've broken many hearts on the track with the Ti (passing both exotics and race cars), exposed it to some horrendous commutes and challenging conditions, yet she just keeps on asking for more. Lowlight - losing a camshaft sensor...the only failure in 13 years of owner ship. One of the Highlights - being able to drive the entire powertrain of my race car down from LA in my 318ti. That includes longblock, tranny, driveshaft, and differential.
The ZHPs cars are unique, sporty, and yet subtle in their delivery and I really think they attract owners who are passionate, proud, and most important - modest. With that said there are members here who don't drive ZHPs but have done a great job individualizing their cars. I think it just comes to this site being special because we're all simply incredible :) Welcome!!

Your zeal for these cars is simply delightful! Welcome to the forums; hope you get your hands on the new ride in short order :)
Sorry guys, I completely forgot to respond to my welcome thread! Here is a quick picture of the 318ti, showing her age.

Link to the "for sale" photo album can be found here (https://picasaweb.google.com/100436597098325807040/318ti?authuser=0&authkey=Gv1sRgCPLzpt7mjajzDQ&feat=directlink). The car sold for $1000 to a German car guru in my area who was buying his son his first car. I've been in touch with him after the sale, and he's really done some great things with it.
Just bought a 2004 330i ZHP last month. Love it to death! I don't have any good pictures of it yet, but here's pictures and video chronicling its trip from CA to IA, being unloaded from the carrier, and my first drive in it.
Being loaded up in CA:

Loaded!

The driver actually delivered it right to my doorstep. I live on a quiet circle drive, with no through traffic, so having a large lumbering car carrier show up and start unloading cars created quite the stir with my neighbors, who were all curious! Here are some videos my wife took:

Well, that's all I have of her so far. I've been busy doing some intensive cleaning, waiting for wheels to get refinished, and a few other minor things before I take it to the photographer for a photo shoot.
I'd like to thank the Mafia for pointing me to this car! Couldn't have found it without you guys! :mafia
