I was considering buying those locally for winter setup (175$ for 4).
I went to our trusted http://felgenkatalog.auto-treff.com/ site and can not find them.
Do you guys recognize these and are they worth the price?

Never seen those before. Diameter/width/offset?

Oli77
05-18-2011, 03:29 PM
All I know is that they are 17 inches. The guy selling them says they are from his 328xi. I am guessing not a BMW wheel?

They still might be. BMW puts a lot of different wheels on their cars.

Those are Style 243.
Came on an E60 (5-series).

Awesome man Spencer! Kudos, yep looks like them style 243.

So does "allrad" mean allroad (i.e., xi)?

There are 2 offsets listed, a 20 and a 43 on the german Felgen Katalog website.

If they are 20, they won't fit.

If they are offset 43 they will right? If they did fit on a 328xi, like the owner claims, then I am good to go?

Is that a good price for 4 used wheels?

43 will be good.....20 might take some creativity.

Guys,
For reference, those are not Style 243's, and did not come on E60's. Those are the wheels from basic E92 328's. Some basic 335i coupes have them as well, but are pretty much E9x fitment.

These are Style 157's.
The price you listed is very good, Oli. They are most definitely OEM.

Hmmm. Bold and italics. You take your wheel identification rather seriously...

Yep. How do I tell if the wheel the guy is selling is the 43 vs. the 20? Do I measure from the center of the wheel.

I went to the site you recommended Dane, http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp and with the 43 offset, I have an extra centimeter inside and wheel will sit in an extra 2 mm.

If I plug in the 20 offset, the inner clearance is now 3.3 cm and wheel sticks out 2.1 cm.

Is the offset number written somewhere on the wheel?

No, just wanted to make sure the incorrect info doesn't continue further...

Oli,
Style 157's only come in et34 offset. Those are et34.

Man, those look the same! What gives? They are just like the 243s! The offset is a 34 if they are 157s.

You didn't do something right. That's 23 mm's difference in the offset.

Look closely. The 243's have much fatter spokes. Let me show you "side by side":

Good call AZ3579! Amazing, love this help, the best I tell ya, the best.

So we now know they are 157s with 34 offset and that they do come (as the guy selling them is telling me), from a 328XI E9x.

I plug the numbers in at the offset calculator and bingo, they stick out 1.3 cm. I went to the garage and I don't know how to tell how much room I have.

Do I place a straight piece of metal on the wheel or tire to tell?

Norm, I am after winter wheels so I really dont' care too much. But now that I look at them here (http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=736007), they don't look half bad on an E46.

Preview:

On top of it, its a great deal (assuming they are straight and true).

How to I check for that? A straight piece of metal like a level would do? Any ideas?

Nice wheels and find Oli!

I'm not sure how to check the wheel other than asking a shop to check the wheels (e.g. balance) on a machine.

$175 for a set is a good price

Oli77
05-21-2011, 05:54 AM
So I went to see them yesterday.

1 is totally new (replaced after it ate the curb).
The other 3 are very clean and new looking (on his 2007 325xi), except for one that has curb rash along 50% of the circumference.

I couldn't get a good look because they were still on the car and we were in an underground parking lot and cars were parked on either side :gun1

They look shinnier than the silver/metal I currently have. Wonder how that's gonna look...

As a winter set, I don't think it's going to matter much. For the condition and the price, those wheels are a steal and I would jump on it.

There are a couple of images on Google with E46's that have these wheels. Check it out; it doesn't look bad, just a little unusual if you don't have a drop.

I was toying with idea to trade my older and scratched 119s at 10.49 Kg with those 157s at 10.36 Kg (keeping the 119s for the snow).

The 157s have move angular lines and may compliment the car IDK.

One thing is for sure, the total loss of 520 gr will add 10 HP!

Note that I am a little dropped since I have the ZSP (doesn't count?).
