I'm not thrilled about salvage either, but at that price it kinda makes up for it...
We have any members up that way (Sac)?

not bad, but 6MT + 4dr are high on my list. I might compromise on one or the other but can't on both at the same time :D

This car has been up on cl for a month of two. It initially had a vin and i looked it up. The car had front and rear damage and was sold at an auto auction in the midwest.

yeah i advertised it as salvage title, seeing that sqweak was considering cars that had accident history.

I never understood whats bad about a car that has been in a crash or salvaged, can you guys please elaborate on that? (sometimes the car looks brand new like this one)

It's a matter of being cautious. Salvage in specific means it was bad enough for the car to be written off by the insurance company. This is as opposed to a small incident that doesn't affect the title status.
Some lenders won't lend for a salvage titled vehicle. It's usually not a good idea because a car that looks good on the surface could have hidden moneypit problems beneath the surface. Because of these two things, most buyers are wary of salvage cars.
All that said, if you are educated, check the car out/have a ppi, don't care much about reduced resale value, & otherwise know what you're getting into they can be a nice bargain. Lots of track focused cars start with salvage cars.

Any time the seller says that it was just little accident on the front side... and pretty much dismisses it (despite there being a salvage title), I get worried.

Yea I looked into it more and the fact that the car looks so clean is not a good thing

Not that I want to talk you back into being interested ;), but just curious what you are basing that on Crest? Just a hunch or have you run the VIN or something and have info you could share?

Also, 3 good shops in Sac and possibly one in Roseville where the guy, and my self live. If you need a PPI check out Shautz and Krum, Valley Motor Works and Bertinis in Roseville. I will let you know after I see the car and talk to the seller.
