Totally did not intend to ru my car this low.......I know it isn't good for the fuel pump but I was impressed getting 377 to the tank considering I have a 50/50 mix of driving.

Can wait to see if it goes up after the vanos.

Also cleaned the engine bay a little. Needs more attention, but looks a million times better than it did before. I haven't cleaned the engine bay since I've owned the car (almost 2 years now). I doubt it was ever cleaned by any previous owners, either.

Nope. I'm never going to do that.

Instead, I'm going to replace them with the OEM covers. I hate these ugly things. I just never got around to replacing them because it's such a pain to take the bumper off.

Justin, trust me....I tried to take it off. There's no good way you can grab from the front to take these suckers off. I think the best way to do this is to access the intake by the fogs from either the back or take the bumper off. Either way, it's more work to get these buggers off....

@ Chris, if they just pop off then perhaps you can enlighten us??? I couldn't get them to pop off. They are so much different from the Hamann fog covers I have on my ///M...

I though the fog surrounds were secured with one bolt, and one installed clip?

JupiterBMW

I found there was plenty of access to the fog lights from behind when I had the headlights removed. That is another fairly easy alternative...

HokieZHP
08-06-2012, 11:22 AM
I pop mine in and out to adjust my fogs a lot. There are clips on the top, bottom and outside of the trim piece. Just press the bumper slightly away from the trim piece at those three points one at a time and pull the trim piece out.

I can take pics later if this doesn't make sense. But if you want to take the bumper off it only takes a minute or two to do.

Everyone is forgetting one thing: these are aftermarket surrounds. These need the bumper to be taken off to remove them; trust me, I've tried.
The stock ones are super easy to remove. These, are not.

Oh I didn't know, alright. I was going to say, I didn't think they were that difficult to remove haha.

But in that case the bumper can be removed in a couple minutes so it should still be relatively easy to do

Yeah almost everything on the bumper is easy to remove. EXCEPT the god damn plastic rivets right underneath the plastic mesh insert in the center of the bumper. I dropped so many F bombs trying to get those out. You have like .2 inches to move your hand and no way to fit any practical tool in there to remove them. Everything else came off easy.

Both of the girls, hiding from the rain... Notice how I have to sandwich them both in there. A 2 car garage really doesn't fit 2 cars once you get some cabinets and a workbench in there. Ah well...

I left my wipers off after getting the windshield replaced because I decided to order a new lower cowl. Looks good IMO and it's nice when driving too, not having to look over them and easier to see if there might be some debris in the road.

Right after that I walked over to the edge of this sheer cliff above the Missouri River to take a pic and this damn thing came slithering up the cliff. Kinda hissed at me and headed down a hole right after I took the pic. Scared the shit outta me! LOL At first I thought it was a Rattler but it didn't have a rattle and after a Google search it sounds like it was just a Bull Snake.

No doubt, liquid courage will make a person do some stupid shit. I can attest to that, back in my younger days. :-)

I was talking to a guy that saw the video and he said it kinda looked like he may have fallen. He said that by the time he cleared the bridge deck he was already horizontal so possibly it was an accident. I've also heard that Tribune article was wrong and it's around 108' from the point where he jumped, not from the deck. You can see on the bridge pier where the high water line was last summer for over 2 months, the spot where I took that pic was under water then. There was major flooding and a lot of expensive houses got damaged but dikes saved a lot of areas.

The Army Corps of Engineers that controls Garrison Dam, about 60 miles north miscalculated the amount of runoff from the Rockies and combined with heavy spring rains forced them to release huge amounts of water for half the summer to get the level of Lake Sakakawea down. It was the first time they've ever used the spillway gates at the dam.

IIRC the river stage was around 10 feet higher during the flood so going by that it looks like the deck is maybe 50' above the water now. Sure looks higher though.

Barry

1 week after the suspension install. Hopefully the rear goes down some. Did not see any drop according to the before and after measuring. Maybe the 83k stock suspension created it's own drop from being old?

Sorry for the shitty cell pic....

technically it's a 2000/02 but everybody calls them (including whats on the badge) 2002

2000 is the engine displacement (1990cc)
/02 meant 2 doors

There was a 2000 (4dr) but those are fairly rare in the US. To give you another idea it's replacement was the first 3 series, specifically the 320i

Thanks Meric...you can find the carbon fiber Arqray lip if you search for it. Unfortunately, I can't tell you where I got my lip because I got this from a fellow forum member (S85FTW) when he got his Arqray lip. All I can remember is that this lip came from Great Britain somewhere...

Fitment isn't 100% spot on I'm afraid...it's very tight on the driver's side and it took 4 people to get this bugger mounted it was so tight...overall though, I love having this lip mounted on my ZHP. Speaking for myself, I prefer this lip over splitters....love the look, it flows much better than my ///M :)

You missed it. I've had it since July.....but I haven't posted many pics on loss of DSLR.

She just caught my eye during the golden hour. Looked great to the eye....not so much through the Droid. Sometimes...you just gotta use what you got.

Cool. There was a funny article in a car mag (can't remember if it was automobile or C&D) about vanity plate ideas that the Virginia DMV rejected due to inappropriateness. Apparently there is a whole dept. dedicated to researching people's choices to make sure they're not inappropriate. hahaha

Heh.. not too! That is the same road where the infamous M3 crash that went viral several weeks ago occurred, on South Mountain in Phoenix. Not really a good road for going hog wild - far too dangerous. As the knucklehead kid found out.

Haha, that's an awesome shot :thumbsup

Got the zhp all ready for winter this weekend. Coat of Klasse all in one applied with a microfiber pad on the PC topped with a coat of Klasse sealant glaze an finished off with another coat of opti-seal. This is the first time I haven't had a traditional wax on it in some form or another, and I'm pretty pleased with the results. Doesn't look quite the same as a carnauba... Kinda more like a candy coat or something. It did a surprisingly good job of hiding imperfections. Regardless, as long as it lasts me the winter I'll be happy.
