I have held a grudge against the Z3M coupe for over 15 years because my sister's high school ex-boyfriend drove his mom's Z3M coupe. My 14 year-old mind thought "this guy's definitely a little weird because he has the stomach to date my sister, but I love Top Gear, he seems like a car guy, maybe we can connect on that?" So, I ask him about the car, we chat for maybe 15 seconds and then I asked him how wide the rear tires were because they looked wide, and offered a guess at 265 rears.

He said, "8.5 inches."

Confused, I said "what? Tire widths are measured in mm."

He snarkily responded, "no, they're 8.5 inches wide, and that's how they're measured in the US and by most racing bodies."

The gears were turning in my brain. That can't be right. My 14 year old mind urged me to be Captain Slow and be pedantic, but I thought better of it.

For the next six months as he would come by the house to hang out with my sister with that dumb grin, my grudge began to fester. Any time we talked cars, he attempted to correct me on every little thing. Infrequently, he was right, but that's besides the point. The damage was done. My brain had permanently associated Z3M coupes with renobs and it has taken me ~15 years to get over that. Despite your best efforts, Daniel, I love the clown shoe.

Is it? I see a lot empty space in the engine bay and it looks like no running engine. If you're in the process of engine swap, it's fun 100%. If you're doing a massive repair, I am not sure if it fun.

Well I still had my summers on my OEM 19s. But I found these on Craigslist after three years of patiently waiting with the right color AND the right tire mounted. I was firm in not buying new since I don’t need anything new and shiny to scuff up. But low and behold, these only have 300 miles on them. So now I’m in that OMG don’t curb it mode....[emoji23]

Tapatalk app has become Freemium now. To get around photo uploads, I just use google photos. Once my image is backed up, I get the image link and paste it into here:

Then it gets me a direct photo link that I can customize dimensions which I use with the [ i m g ] command.

I'm running H&R Sport springs but I want to switch to Eibach springs once the B12 becomes available again.

If you want to lower the front only without changing springs, you can install Z4 strut mounts which will lower the car 0.6" up front.

Wheels look great! What's your opinion of the Rim Wax? I just ordered it to give it a try, but curious about your opinion (or anyone else)!

It’s hard to tell. I just did it in the family room over a 007 movie. Haha. I don’t have much to compare to because I don’t do any controlled tests. I used it on my OEM 19” wheels and they didn’t get much or any discoloration from brake dust. I am quite active in cleaning that and never let it build up which may be a bigger help than what any wheel wax can do.

It’ll be different now as these wheels are more or less brand new with a bright finish. I don’t religiously coat wheels though, I just clean them when I notice they’re dirty. LOL

This is what I use to keep it clean when outside water is turned off! It also has its own hose where I can dump it in a bucket of water. It’ll use about a gallon every four minutes at 400psi. I use 2L soda bottles if I just want to clean the wheels. One 2L per 2 wheels!

This thing is the perfect solution to why I don't want to wash my car! It takes me way too long to go all the way to the car wash (15 mins each way), rinse the car, then to come back and do a "hoseless" wash in the garage. With this I could just roll the car out, rinse it down, and get right to it without water spotting from driving back. Thanks for posting this!

Space grey is a tinge bit darker. And less shinny maybe. Also a bit less blue, but it depends and the surrounding (that's what I love about the greys is that they reflect a lot of the environment, sometimes green or blue).

Yeah factory headers. I was mostly looking for a catback that was louder, without being dull like the Borla and Magnaflow. The Corsa was too conservative for me and the The Eisenmann and Supersprint are too expensive. I must say though, the Eisenmann catback is literally the best sounding exhaust I've heard on our cars. I modeled my video after this Eisemann video:

Definitely looking at Eisenmann with headers for mine in the distant future. That sounded great but its hard to tell how loud the car is through video

They are original, but 5 series size unfortunately, I had to make them work, you can see they are a bit large from the wheel arch to corner light, and I trimmed some length for that to even work.

Not a pic of the car itself but I went to the local drag strip today and they had a weighing scale. Car came in at 3210lbs with 1/3 tank and no spare.

If I can shave off another 50lbs with basic stuff (SAP delete, manual seats etc.) and maybe another 50 with a few carbon parts, I'd be set. That would come out at 1400kg flat.

Thanks Will, they are 50% on the sides and 30% in the rear. In the near future I'm going to replace it with 40% ceramic tint on all windows and maybe 90% on the windshield. From my experience ceramic tends to be a little lighter despite being the same VLT as non ceramic.

40 is a really good balance, be it ceramic or not. The black interior and anthracite headliner make it look a little darker than 40 from the outside, but it will still be comfortable to drive at night without feeling like you have horse blinders on.

Clever angle selection made the reflections look better than it is in person right now. She really needs a polish and sealant, I’ve just been busy with stuff around the house.

Yes, I do plan on painting the reflectors... I’ve been saying that for a long time and yet here we still are lol. I’ve thought about clear ones, but felt they would stand out even more than the amber.

Those first 2 pics are great examples of the 2 extremes of Mystic Blue and how different the color can look sometimes. Also the massive body roll inspired me to get my sway bars and although they did reduce roll, I feel like the car was more fun to drive before because the rolling and dipping is a form of feedback for the driver. Really let you know what the car was doing.
