My tires are square as well at 225. I think I just being to cheap and didn't bother to buy spacers.
I run the similar combination on my red zhp. I have staggered wheels, but square 205 wheels, which are even weirder. Not to mention that I cannot push on gas pedal in the corners.
You made me think about spacers Botond.

I actually have spacers as well. 12.5mm all around, for effective offsets of +34.5 and +37.5.
Unfortunately I don't have any shots showing the angle down the side of the car, so this is the closest I've got:

Bilstein PSS10's. I have to use spacers to clear the Wilwood BBKs, and figured 12.5mm pushes the 68's to right around where my BBS CH's are naturally without them (et35), which look perfect to me. Rear fenders are rolled.

I ran 235/40/18 on my 8.5" square CSL reps back when I had the ZHP.
Same here for my summers (235 on a 8.5” CSL rep up front) and I’m pretty sure a 245 would fit without issue.

The M is fine outside. Mine’s not a princess and I don’t treat it and drive it like one so it knows to behave when it’s given the short straw. She’s doesn’t let me down in the coldest of temps.

On a side note to COUPE owners, if you don’t want your windows frozen shut so you can’t get in. Make sure that before your coupe goes to sleep in freezing temps, when you’re inside your car, tap the window down switch just so you hear the window motor actuate but not roll down. Once you open your door, the window will budge down as normal to open and clear the exterior trim. Once you close the door the window will remain at that level leaving the car sealed up but able to get into the car easily the next freezing morning.

I think treating the rubber seals with Gummi Pflege would also help prevent stuff from sticking.

For sure! I use Wurth Rubber Care. But you know when the ice on the window at the bottom edge "wiper" seal gets so thick and strong your window won't roll down, that's a liability for coupes when they nudge down every time you open the door because it can't so that frozen regulator is just torquing trying to get the window down but nothing is moving. It's a horrible tug-o-war of E46 windows motor, regulator, glass, and ice cracking. LOL

Nah, I like the sound of glass ripping off rubber.

It's like a new "unboxing/peel off plastic film" every time you open your car door. LOL So satisfying!

This car needs an LSD in a bad way. I lit up the rears at 80kmh yesterday (not on snow). Also 350hp on 215mm-width snow tires with an open diff.... I rest my case.

Already tired of winter.

This car needs an LSD in a bad way. I lit up the rears at 80kmh yesterday (not on snow). Also 350hp on 215mm-width snow tires with an open diff.... I rest my case.

I think the only solution is an E90 M3. [emoji1787]

LOL. yeah. kind of ridiculous as they actually cancelled busses monday and tuesday because it was TOO COLD. what?

i think south-western BC would be perfect in the winter; nice 10ºC days, then drive 1-2hrs to the mountains and do some real wintery stuff. then come home and not have to deal with it. :)

Diesel engines don't do well in really cold temperatures. Could be why they cancelled the buses. When I was driving trucks, we'd have to let them run all night so we could drive them the next day. Starting them in sub zero weather can be pretty tough even with block heaters and the diesel fuel would gel up

Snow collects in funny ways on this bumper.

Frig. Getting a ton of snow that wasn’t supposed to be gotten.

Not supposed to stop until tomorrow night. Ugh.

1. well, the crazy part is that it's sunny and beautiful everywhere else in southern ontario today, even 30min north of here on the mainland. it's just here. weird island ecosystem. but the forecast for next week when you're here is now supposed to be above freezing, so, hey, that's nice.

2. yep.

3. it's a TiAg 2003 330i M Sport, steptronic. it belongs to my friend john, and is here for repair of many things. no time to work on it lately.

I don't think the two-tone would be an issue if the wheel designs weren't so damn flat. No concavity to them at all. No lip. Just boring straight, which makes the two-tone look terrible.

I was praying the whole time during this procedure...I freaking hate them. It was worth it though, still have some slight vibration coming from somewhere, but the chassis is much more responsive with new struts and shocks. Also got some sweet wheel gap in the process.

nice but still pains me to see that car parked outside and driven in winter time :( im sure you maintain the hell out of it with the mindset its meant to be driven but how do you handle the possibility of rust living in that area with the snow and ice through out the year? places that ive noticed that get affected are like the battery box area with the little drain holes and the body plug holes under the car, fender liner lip areas.. they get rain, snow, , moisture with salt etc... and just start rusting and no one ever checks those places

Where I live they don’t use corrosive stuff. It’s a more friendly fluid that is sprayed onto the ground. My ZHP survived 8 years of outdoor life and had no issues so I don’t have any doubts this M is fine. Doing the subframe deal, I know there is no rust and protection from the elements was mitigated a bit more. Sure it can still happen though and I’m fine with it.

My car isn’t something I worship. It’s steel and plastic with wheels that happens to be pretty amazingly engineered to extract oodles of fun and memories with others which constantly has me awe that human beings produced such a vehicle. LOL.

Anything could happen to it while I share my car on the roads with others like my former ZHP. My friend hurt his back and couldn’t drive his manual ZHP anymore so it was sold to be never enjoyed by him again. I don’t ever want to hold back experiences that I or others will have with this car because I never know what the future has in store for me. Besides if the vehicle is lost to Mother Nature or a series of unfortunate events, I just know another chapter is waiting to be started and other cars I have not experienced are waiting to be discovered.

To be honest my ZHP has stolen my heart more than the car I drive now. [emoji51] There is just something so “unspecial” about that car that I miss! Haha. Probably that it was like a surgeon’s scalpel and totally precise. The M is also a scalpel, but handled by a less mature surgeon which is always egging me to hurt myself when I drive it. LOL...Some kind of love/hate relationship!

This may hurt more but I plugged all her holes. [emoji51] Even the wheels got packed from sooooo much sideways last night. [emoji23]

BTW, Shawn I know your sedan monster is far more special than my assembly line produced snow beast. If I put that much time and effort into a machine like that I may have your thoughts towards that car! It’s so perfect! My first world problem with a coupe is when I have to get out and get soaked when it’s down pouring just for my back seat passenger to egress or ingress. [emoji23] Knowing how I treat my cars I won’t ever own a car that I put that much time and effort into making it perfect. But who knows, maybe I’ll obtain some huge underground parking garage that can house crazy projects that need more protection than usual!! [emoji482]

After getting my dad's 535d professionally soaped up and cleaned...he's never driven it since he got back from out of town and now its cleanliness has wrapped the car in spotless handcuffs...LOL I'm sure once it gets some dirt on it, he'll be back to his normal self. At least right now I've been able to do a lot of European coding to the car so it can do things that North Americans wish to have!

I just pressure sprayed my car today at the wand wash for $2 so it's shiny'ish again and waiting for the next mud puddle to splash in. But luckily it's not so clean I avoid dirty roads like I did my dad's 535d when I drove it back from being cleaned. hahahaha

Why switch from leather?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Improved:
grip
comfort
breathability

Reduced:
leather smell
burnt skin in summer
frozen skin in winter
swamp ass

We swapped over the near perfect set of Alcantara seats and door panels that I had bought a little over a year ago because Spenser will actually take care of them and keep them looking new. I, on the other hand, am a trashball that drives through construction zones with the windows down. He also won't need to strap himself down with a harness for track events now as the fabric is super grippy on clothing.

I still have the busted Alcantara set that came with my car and plan to continue to destroy it until I decide on a replacement that can handle my filthy hobbies.

More comfy than M3 seats?

While I drive with the windows up most of the time, I haven’t treated the leather even once in the 4.5 years I’ve owned my zhp. I do have brand new leatherique bottles sitting on the shelf from the past 3 years though...

Why switch from leather?

A lot of what Nate said, plus...

• The sport seat bottoms are actually narrower than the M3, which is nice because I’m a 29” waist/145lbs soaking wet.

• In order for me to benefit from the inflatable side bolsters on the M3 uppers I have to almost max them out. This makes the bolsters very firm, and they kinda dug into my triceps on long drives.

(both of these things would likely not be an issue if I was an inch or two taller, or 10-15lbs heavier)

• I was getting annoyed with having Nappa fronts, Dakota rears, and vinyl door cards. To get M3 doors in Spenser-approved condition + Nappa rear seats was gonna cost more than I wanted to spend, and likely involve a lengthy drive to pick them up.

• The cloth seats are just better suited to summers in the south. Even with tint, power rear shade, and a front sun shade I cook my ass every day after work in the warmer months.

• Since the Alcantara was a ZHP thing, I liked the idea of having an “authentic” interior

But if a clean Natty Brown shows up locally I’ll probably make the stupid decision of buying it and letting it sit in the spare bedroom for a while.

I think so. The Nappa is pretty firm (in a good way), but the cloth is definitely superior on road trips for my bony ass. The Nappa is also kind of sealed in a way that it doesn’t really absorb treatment, so I know it’d really bother me to see them getting worn over the years without much I could do.

I mean, M3 seats are the absolute best, and I have nothing bad to say about them so somebody please buy mine because they’re amazing!

No none of those parts were mine sorry if what I said implied that. I know at one point I was interested in that alcantara front seats but they were for coupe so I had to pass on them. I'm glad Spencer was able to pick them up and put them to good use.

lol - I have natural brown and am resisting the urge to bid on an alcantara interior on eBay - it would already be mine if I had black or grey, but I’m still considering stocking it away regardless

Ahhh yes sorry that’s what I meant. Even if I can get away with just spraying a wheel cleaner and hosing it off, I’ll be very very happy. I have a sinai kit for the body that I didnt get to use last year. Maybe after another PC and possibly a front end respray I’ll apply that stuff before the end of the summer.

Wait, they’re giving tickets for lowered cars?

Just about. It’s becoming ridiculous. There’s a local forum that is near 3,000 post large since it started last fall. It’s slowly making the local news about corrupt police. So we’ll see what happens. There is one person who has passed a forced vehicle inspection more than a couple times without changing anything prior to getting inspected at brand name dealerships. I just stay out of the city. My car is far more OEM looking than most people who get pulled. Although stock BRZs are being forced to VI.

Vancouver was once a happy place for wings, negative camber and lowering. I know it’ll be back once the certain power hungry individuals have been brought to justice. It’s not stopping me from enjoying the car and racing around safety. [emoji56] I’ve got a good lawyer on my side should I need to help our car enthusiast community get justice. And they drive an E46M too. LOL. Go figure.

Mostly "visible" negative camber and lowering which is illegal in any form to these individuals. Some cars have more visible camber with OEM settings. And if you're lowered you need two fingers tire to fender gap which is not even written in their "legal" books....LOL. They're just power tripping and causing a lot of non-disputable fines and VI expenses. Oh well.....the truth will come out sooner or later!

Last picture is me hanging with James aka @BimmerTeknik in his 500k mile E36. That rebuilt S52 could pull out of corners a lot better than my 135k M54 and walked me in the straights, but my better tires really narrowed the gaps in the twisty bits. Thats great, and I agree I much prefer Apex photography. They seem to be the other co. that shows up to local events. I think the company that was there is just grandfathered in, quite literally.

I’ve still got to go through the videos I have on the GoPro.

If it wasn’t for the back and front straight you would have eaten me up. I was extremely over braked and under gripped in the front. Conti DWS are not the ticket. I should have that sorted by my next event.

If I can manage to scrounge together enough money for an event this year (preferably Palmer in June), I'll take some video for you with my 3.46. Maybe that'll help you decide.

I love Dakar [emoji15] at least it’s yellow, instead of the color of bodily secretions. Dakar doesn’t look good on the M Coupe/Roadster but I think the E36’s black trim contrasts beautifully with DY.

My major beef with Dakar is how a color can look like it's been left out in the Arizona sun for 30 years. It looks way too faded, even with a fresh paint job. If it didn't look faded, I wouldn't mind it...

If only she were running. I got stranded in Bisbee last Friday. Parked the car and the BST (Battery Safety Terminal) ignited, which is only supposed to happen if the airbags deploy. $200 part and nobody in the country seems to have one, quoted 2 weeks delivery from Germany by Tucson BMW dealer. Beating the bushes to find one someplace sooner. Stupid over-engineered crap! Thankfully my car is old enough to not have a lot of this crud that BMW seems to load up on more with every passing year.

The previous owner put it on and supposedly shipped the trim from euro Z4 as it was not an option for USA. Also this is the original owners picture.

ECS actually has the trim for sale as of lately.
