GOODENOUGH for Cars n Coffee in the morning, if it stops raining. DD for the last few weeks with over 1,500 miles in that time. Cleaned up pretty good considering the last two days/600 miles where in rain.

Forgot to say; I had to wash it in the rain.

Seriously, I didn't think it was going to fit. I measured twice. But this guy was determined... and showed up without the passenger seat. :)

We used my new engine hoist to get it into the back of the Touring.... there was plenty of room. I was so pumped.

Boxed. Box-less would result in a lot of damage. And storing circular objects is inherently more difficult than rectangular or square objects.

Tirerack tends to double wrap wheels with extra boxes that they have laying around. In this case, it looks like you got the extra protection of an OZ box.

Edit: Yep, now that I'm looking at the pictures on a monitor it's obvious. They did the same thing when I ordered loose wheels. Keeps your wheels better protected and your BBS box looking fresh!

My jack is already a PITA (I bought it when I only needed to worry about the ride height of an E83 X3). A minor drop isn't going to make my life any harder lol.

Of course the obvious answer is a QuickJack.

Yea I'm actually not worried. I already drive over driveway entrances/etc. like a little old lady.

I'm actually thinking of fabricating some skid plates for the front bumper and the first ~18" of the sideskirts. I got the idea from Sillieidiot I think? I plan on using probably 1/8" aluminum.

I found this winter that the plastic belly plate was the thing that was contacting snow/ice all the time the next day after snowing and all the "normal" cars had flattened the middle snow mound. Well my car flattened it even further. LOL.

If you can produce something with less of an angle/slope then it would make it easier in hitting soft/crunchy things. Haha.

The plastic belly pan survived me this winter though!!

The biggest problem would probably be the downpours. Once in a while, we get some heavy continuous rain and the street gets a bit flooded.

That reminds about the thing falling off in the winter. It was probably loose and I loosened it some more with the snow.

Whoa, it's nice to see one in the wild. Definitely a nice change from all the people on /r/bmw posting pictures of the GTS in their local dealer's showroom.

Honest question: how does the Mafia feel about the GTS' wheels (and I guess the new competition wheels)?

I'm not a fan. They look way too busy (how many triangles per wheel?), especially in the center. I'm also unsure about the star pattern in general and don't care for the spokes coming together.

This sums it up nicely. My mom said they remind her of the wheels on her '91 Taurus wagon. I didn't like them before she said that, but now I just can't un-hear or un-see that comparison to the darkest hour in my family's automotive history.

Just drove the new G30 m550i xDrive. It has third person view for parking! WTH!!! This car makes me inner techno-geek excited.

Driving the car it's plenty powerful. So powerful you never knew you were at WOT for 3 seconds and your speed increases an addition 60MPH. I tried auto parallel park, auto back in park, auto lane steer, active cruise. I feel like it wasn't a test drive, more like a test ride. [emoji23]

I can't speak for the 550i, but I can definitely vouch for the 540i. It is no slouch, and is actually very tossable around an auto-x course as it doesn't feel its weight. Ask me how I know. :biggrin

Rovert
05-13-2017, 03:15 PM
I didn't toss too much around but both feel reasonable light the 540 more. The 550 power is more my style. It feels like my car but smoother which is great. The only problem is the 550 is like double the acceleration power as mine without any drama or excitement. I just gassed it and it smoothly rocketed me to jail-time speed. My E46 maybe a ton slower but the way it gets there makes my neck hairs stand. The 550 would be a good car to keep up to an M3 with grandma in it so she doesn't feel any speed. LOL

E46 will be classic soon! Then collectors. Then antiques. [emoji23]

My street is being repaved so all asphalt is gone. This morning I had a gravel ramp to leave. When I came home this afternoon there was no ramp. So I had to climb it sideways. PSS taking it for the team:

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170516/71ce16334930c935bf332ff7008be32a.jpg

Only used half the sidewall to get up on a 45° angle. I had to try two times to get it right so I didn't back into the flower bed. LOL.

And then the yellow cookie rolling pin came by just after tucking in the blue Cookie Monster.

Wait for it.....

You guys need a portable bird poo system...

Get you some o this:

https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/41WdIGCZK1L.jpg

Mix a few ounces with water in one of these:

https://images.containerstore.com/catalogimages/173712/12ozSprayBot176010_x.jpg

And throw it in the trunk with one of these:

https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51YKqD3zATL._SY355_.jpg

Spray the poo spot. Let it dwell for 30-60 seconds, carefully wipe up the poo bits, spray again, wipe gently with a clean section of the cloth.

Your paint (and coworkers) will thank you.

Rovert
05-18-2017, 11:55 AM
I don't have to worry too much. Ceramic is protecting where half the poop was. I just thought it would be more of a PITA if it sits in the sun longer and my car was in the shade until now. I would say always have a bottle of club soda in so you can have pressurized water if you're hardcore.

Well. That miniature Exxon-Valdez just sapped up all of the time that I was going to spend on other projects tonight. Nothing else was damaged, but every little parts bag had oil in it. Lots of paper towels and dish soap later, we're good.

So it's pretty funny: they packaged everything loose because there wasn't anything big and sharp that would bust a bottle of oil, right? But they forgot how ridiculously sharp the point is on the seatbelt buttons that were in the order.

The worst I had was an order of BMW wheel cleaner that came in a box filled with sand. It was such a mess when I opened it. Sand went everywhere and was all in the pump trigger mechanism. I called to complain and they told me it was a USPS requirement... well I've never had anyone else do that and they could have at least put the spray bottles in a separate bag...

Needless to say I have never ordered from them again.

I called to complain and they told me it was a USPS requirement... well I've never had anyone else do that and they could have at least put the spray bottles in a separate bag...

Needless to say I have never ordered from them again.

lol jesus christ...they put a spray bottle in loose with SAND??? Who did this to you? Because that's a great practical joke.

That is the worst packing idea I've ever heard. Fill the package with sand on the off chance that the spray bottle will break and needs to be absorbed, all the while making the package weigh as much as a...bag of sand?

I've had some fluids leaked, but nothing too bad. It wasn't oil. The sand idea is just mind blowing.

The used AFE intake I got on ebay came packaged in loose packing peanuts, which doesn't seem like the best of ideas.

maybe someday.

My back left jack-pad is sunken in. I haven't really been able to tell if it's fixable, or something I'll have to live with. The flat top and rubber pad of the ESCO would give me A LOT more peace of mind compared to the ol' 3 ton Craftsmans.

Bite the bullet. I watched them tick up from $30 a pop to $45 a pop. Got laid off at work, so I couldn't buy when they were cheap. Have a new job now. I tried emailing the company asking about pricing, etc, NO response. Oh well.

I figured it's something that will hopefully last me a lifetime. If I'm gunna be under them, I want them to be top notch.

I just searched it on my work computer. $65. I'll try and look at home again.

I wonder if they adjust price based on inventory?

I was coming into a corner and throttled the S54 hard. Engine screamed and burbled as I left off to shift weight forward to initiate drift and oversteered on demand. I counter steered at opposite lock immediately in a blaze of drift king glory. The curve ball or drift ball was the back hit a bump on the road and threw balance more than the drift was prepped for. As the rear came around more it forces the front wheel a little too close into the curb. [emoji15]

That's the good story. But the real story is nothing as exciting. [emoji23] I just drove up onto a small curb when I was parking along side without thinking to correct by stopping immediately and reverse because I was tired. LOL. Not an honorable curbing. [emoji856] The PSS saved the wheel on the way up. But going the same direction down is what the PSS couldn't save.

Moral of the "real" story: don't drive tired and always stop immediately and reverse if you accidentally climb a curb.

Lol even more than posting pics of Estoril E46s with captions about the parking space 1 minute apart?

Me too, though I know it was totally a moose and not a bump that caused it.

Looking good! If I'd bought a sedan, RCRs would've been the first thing I did.

Agreed. Most ZHPs look better with it, IMO.

One of the first 'mods' I did on my car - although I went with crappy DEPO lights. RCR tails make the car look so much more modern.

+1 as well RCR lights are the best on sedans. I had rep lights for a long time and recently got OEM lights from Turner and what a complete difference. So much more smoother and higher quality. It really brings the car to life.

On the rep RCR I had led white lights but on the OEM lights I've kept the amber lights over the white LED just because I haven't had amber lights in so long and they just feel much more smoother and classy than the white lights. Even though my sides and front are white LED lights.. but I'll go back to White LED lights in the back soon..

Was the Turner set OE or OEM supplier product? Who is the manufacturer?

To be honest with you I'm not even 100%... I believe they're 100% OEM based on the stickers attached to them when they come. They're stickers look like OEM stickers and are in German and BMW designed so they're probably 100% OEM but I've never seen them on ECS and that's where I buy all my OEM parts from... so I'm pretty confident and secure with OEM parts from ECS and not Turner. Even tho I also completely trust Turner on every part I buy for my car. I just never personally bought an OEM part from Turner because on ECS they've always been a couple of bucks less. So I've always ended up buying OEM parts from ECS rather than Turner.
