That's what I currently have as well.. but yours seem to poke out a little bit more. Hmm

Also, What do you use on your trim to get it so black?!

Absolutely. My paint seems to be well taken care of from my PO, but other than that I've used M105 & M205 for swirls (which have since come back) and I think I used Mothers Sealant after that. Then I used some Chemical Guys XXX paste wax (awesome stuff) and this time, I used Sonax on my rims to clean them up. I only use Sonax maybe 5-6 times a year. Maybe once every few weeks. The stuff is expensive so I use it gingerly.

For my engine bay... well... I used WD-40. There will always be debates on whether or not using it is a good idea.. but I spray and coat everything and then rinse off. After that I wipe everything down with one of my older and dirtier microfiber towels.

Sounds great. Will get into the detailing once I get my house and have a garage. I am lagging it a bit. I just wash it every 2 weeks. I use an $11 Meguiar's soap and dry it with a microfiber towel. I use a wheel cleaner in combination with the car wash soap to clean the wheels. The wheels are a real PITA. I do those last as I'm just sitting down and it literally takes like 10 min/wheel.

I park away from cars whenever possible to avoid sings and try to park in the shade when possible. I try to stay away from where birds crap all over the vehicle.

I wash with armor all wash.. no big. I dry it with a waffle towel and I freaking love that thing.. it does an awesome job. I also have a normal car spong that I split in half and while it was ripping in half.. one side ripped unevenly and it's the perfect size to fit in between the spokes. Using a lug nut cleaner works well on our rims as well. You can usually get one of those at your local car store like autozone or advance auto

Yes but you probably have more experience and/or know-how in this install. With stuff like this, mileage will vary (greatly).

It's just like how it took me 6 hours to do brake pads on my E30 the first time I did it. I can now do pads on all four corners in about 1-1.5hrs taking my time on my E46 now because I've done it so many times. Meric probably hasn't done this enough to be proficient at it.

I think I did mine in just over 2 hours when I first did mine. I just don't see how the job can be time consuming or as rigorous as a brake job or something else like that.

Drove the car 403 miles 3 days ago from Raleigh, NC to Clinton, TN and back today... (total of 800-900 miles)
each (one way) trip was done with exactly 3/4 of a tank ....the 'to' trip got me about 30-31 MPG!
...pretty good, esp. considering all the mountains in Asheville, NC...that was fun, as always.

BTW, the Conti DWS rock in rainy weather and windy roads at brisk speeds...got the car up to 95 one time (passing) and they felt rock solid, despite pretty wet conditions.

After the return trip, stopping to pick up the mail from the post office....

Haha, I can barely tell a difference in height.

It's actually a 2000. He's had it since new. Before that, he had the E28 M5. He's owned probably 20 + cars since 2000 but has kept the M5. His favorite car - even sold the E60 M5 he ordered to the next person on the list at the BMW Stealership.

M5 has a lot of nice mods like Tubi exhaust, PSS10 coilvers...going to get interior make over and wheels (LM's) this summer!

All my wheels are 18x8 ET45 with 235/40/18's.

I have 15mm rear spacers and 10mm front spacers.

Gonna be moar buoss, when I lower it.

So....effectively....my rear offset is ET30, front is ET35

I was always a fan of these, but never gave it a thought of buying them. But when I began to get bored of my old wheels, I found a steal on CL. Threw them on with 12mm spacers all around. Just need to bring down the front a little more and I will be happy. Going to get them refinished soon also, and then switch off between these wheels and the zhp's.

I look at the Khoalty setup as a budget friendly "tied me over" product... Till I can get the real deal at TMS.

Not LED. The ones I have are LED AND R/C/R. Best price I've found when I was shopping last year:

http://www.khoalty.com/bmw-e46/lights/e46-depo-led-tail-lights.html

Just make the selection for E46 Sedan 02-05 and Red/Clear/Red.

I had been with out the ZHP for a little over a week until yesterday. The car had the classic 2-3k rattle so i left it at the dealer and took my Volvo back to school. The car came with a 60 day warranty so they replaced the VANOS unit for free :) Also got them to replace the thermostat and coolant sensor the first week I had the car. Really glad I got the car from a BMW dealer now!

Anyways my parents were nice enough to pick up the car and meet me halfway between home and school so I could get the ZHP back. We met at the pinnacles national park, went on a hike, and switched cars. Once you get off highway 101, its an awesome road and beautiful drive up to the park. Here are a few pics i took on the drive home. Just unedited iphone shots:

Thanks! I'm in LA, San Fernando Valley.

Thanks! I almost got that BMWCCA badge but opted out of it, but now i'm seeing a few more newer BMW's with them, so maybe next year. Nice car btw

Here's is another cell phone pic of the side view..

beautiful, beautiful car. and i love those wheels. seriously considering them for my next set. i have a question though, i see they weigh quite a bit less. can you feel any difference in terms of responsiveness between the 71s and the 135s? i'm looking for a lightweight set and obviously would love to stay with an OE BMW rim if i like it enough...

Sorry to break it to ya man, but that VANOS swap isn't going to help as the rattle is going to come back. Most of the time it comes back within a few days or weeks. This is what you want to fix the issue:

ya no worries i know that the noise will probably come back soon and I'll have to do the rattle repair kit. I read through most of the VANOS threads on here. but since the dealer was doing it for free, why not give it a shot? it seemed like there's a chance the oem unit would do the trick for a while. plus, anytime the dealer will cover some sort of repair, i'm thrilled. just time and money I can put off spending.

Thank you very much!

To be honest I have no idea about the wheel weights and it was not of my concern when I picked up these wheels. Also, I have not had the 135's on the car in about two years. I had ESM LM reps before, and when I switched them out from 135's the steering wheel felt more sensitive to the road, but I'm not sure if it was due to the higher offsets on the wheels, weight difference, or switching out the old worn tires (Michelin PS) with the new ones (Hankook Ventus v12). It's still a mistery for me.

Before switching to the Style 71's, I put in BC BR coilovers, UUC sways, and 12mm spacers so the steering feels very sensitive to the road, and I find myself holding the steering wheel a lot more than I used originally. I cant comment on the reason for the change since I have never had any prior experiences with any of the mods and don't know if that is the how the car responded to the mods or if I somehow screwed up at some point. But it could be due to terrible roads that I drive on, since the car feels great on flat/newer surface streets.

Sorry that I couldn't really answer the question. But your car looks great in the sig! Makes me glad that I haven't sold the 135's. I just need some new rubber to put on them and keep switching them out with the 71's for variety.

But it could be due to terrible roads that I drive on, since the car feels great on flat/newer surface streets.

I had something similar happen to me as well. Is the sensitivity to the road feel like tramlining?

I replaced my rear Michelin PS, changed the FCAB's, and did a 4 wheel alignment and I noticed extra sensitivity as well. At first the car felt like shit and I thought the alignment was bad so I took it back to the shop and they re-aligned it and said everything was ok; it still felt like shit.

I found out my car drove perfect on great roads; the ones recently refinished, and like shit on crappy roads. I have changed my habits and have learned to scan the road; as if I'm driving a bike, in order to avoid tramlining. In roads where the transport trucks generally travel, I've seen indentations on the road and there has been more than one occasion where it literally seems Casper grabs my wheel and aggressively turns it almost crashing into the median divider.

I also noticed that when turning a bit aggressively, my DSC would kick in. I played around with the tire pressures an adjusted it to 34/36 and that issue was fixed.

I might get a different experience when I replace the front tires.

On the back of my mind: I have received many compliments on my car and I was always asked if I have a drop on it. My answer is no, unless PO did one and my alignment is for stock height; negating old custom alignment. I assume the alignment shop should have seen the modifications if they exist.
