No no i know that disables DSC :D but when i keep it long for 5 seconds that (!) thing comes up too. What does that do?

danewilson77
11-14-2011, 06:09 PM
Holding the DSC button down (>3 seconds) disables DSC and DTC. Pushing it once only disables DSC. Lemme check the owners manual....for sure.

DTC=Dynamic Traction Control.

There is also CBC (Cornering Brake Control)

It's on page 87....

It turns off the traction control and active stability control, I believe if you just tap it on and off only the traction control light comes on
(not fully turned off) until you hold it for five seconds. It has been a while since I had an E36 so I dont recall.

Dane beat me to it

Is it really effective? Like does it really work?

11-14-2011, 06:19 PM
Meric, since you live in Canada, when it is snowing out, take the car out, drive with traction control off. Then press the DSC button briefly and drive. Then press and hold the DSC button until both lights turn on, then drive. You will notice your car drift more and more haha. I live in CT, I have done that test to see the effectiveness of traction control. It really does make a difference.

Yea everytime i press the gas pedal that DSC sign was flashing at me. Hmmm. I cant drive my ZHP in winter because i have sports tires on it and I have an SUV so my baby is going to garage for 4-5 Months. :( Thank you soo much for informations!

+1. I will not ever drive in wet/snowy with dsc off. It makes a drastic difference.

Marcus - I only counted 2 on site. Maybe the internet gods have bestowed a 3rd upon me?

Thanks Dane. Only had my cellphone on me. By the time I could've gotten home and grabbed the DSLR it probably would've been gone/dark/cloudy, but the rainbow was crazy vibrant so I figured I'd try to capture it. Cloud cover and rain had just lifted for the first time in about 24 hours, right at sunset - it was pretty crazy lighting. One of those times where i was really frustrated at how difficult it is to capture what your eyes can see on a camera.

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j234/paulkeith/cars/Silbergrau_ZHP/2011-11-28171744.jpg

i didn't angle this for maximum chadbrochill, i was just trying to use the longest part of the frame to capture the car and rainbow:

after wash, before polish/wax. If you use it before wash it's a waste as you're gonna grab all the dirt into the clay bar and just use that as grit to scratch the paint

Is the "ZHP" smaller than the "330"?

Yes it is. I was originally going to put it in the center of the color matched license plate frame is why. Not sure if I like it smaller than the 330 now where it's at. I should of went with "zhpmafia" on the frame and ZHP & 330 the same size above.

Here are some random pics I took after a detail over thanksgiving. I just now got them off my brother's camera though haha. I am by no means any sort of photographer and have ZERO experience so be kind haha.

BTW the detail was wash, clay, Chemical Guys glaze, Dodo hard wax, dodo soft wax

There are a lot...sorry

Nice and no worries on the phone pic because I've wanted to see a color comparison! After seeing that side by side I think I'm pretty sure the '69 is not gonna be Chamonix again, not the right shade for me. Now I just need to figure out what color I want. I'm thinking maybe a blue. I ran into a Inka roundie about 50 posts ago, that car was hot (even though it was raining that day)

She enjoys the snow :)

I just noticed that the rear lights look matte kind of and the sides have a lot of brown in them. This is from the salt/dirt/etc on my car from about the last 2-3 from when I last bathed her :(

I'm just trying to think about wheel factors that could impact the ability to use spacers. The only thing I can think of is the size of the chamfer on the hubcentric ring - but that would pretty much be a factor for any spacer at all, which is why I was a little confused by that statement.

20mm front 10mm rear I believe

Correct. And they fit no problem because they extend the hub to acommodate the spacer. Rear fenders are rolled on the car. The Blizzaks are 225/40/18 front and 255/35/18 rear. If I still owned the car, I'd be looking for another set of wheels, running 4 fronts in the winter and 4 rears in the summer. The 255 rears are wider than necessary for winters but they do make it possible to get great traction on dry roads.

My favorite spacers so far are the Turner Motorsport ones because they fit better than anything else I've tried and can come with black bolts for an OEM look. They're also track tested as Turner uses them on some of their race cars and customer's race cars. Definitely worth the extra $10 -$20 they might cost over other brands.

Welp, just saw this while I was looking through some pictures I took while I was in Japan in the summer of 2010. It's a 3er wagon with an mtech II kit, lowered on some style 68s. I had no idea that it was what it was until I was bored just now, to think I was only taking a picture of a cool looking car back then! Is this an Imola car as well?

Agreed that it likely is not Imola due to non-M, but at the same time my car sometimes has that kind of shading depending on the conditions and it looks like it might be an overcast day in the pic

Rovert
02-27-2012, 11:50 PM
Yep it could have been water!! Another thing I could guess is because it was raining you were looking down slightly so you wouldn't get rain in your eye. So then you tilted the camera up further than normal to compensate you looking down. The camera lens aimed way to high or it's artificial intelligence chose the clouds and couldn't focus because it was just white and most cameras require contrast to focus correctly. Those are the possibilities when you get to know your iPhone. Hah!
