Thanks! No snow over here to make her dirty, and plenty if rain to wash off the dust :) a good coat of sealant helps too.

I've got a set of five Style 44s in winter condition...need a new set of tires but they come with excellent burnout tires ;-)

Lemme know if you need some soon!

Thanks :). I'm trying to take care of these wheels until I can afford find some 17's and refinish my 135's.

How's the pedal feel compared to OE ?
Surprisingly good :). Before bedding them, it was a little soft initially but after bedding they perform great. I hooned about on a back road for a bit afterwards and found the initial bite is about equal to oem, maybe a tad softer. Under sustained and repeated braking they perform well with no signs of fade after a 6 60-0 stops and even down a few mountain passes they held up well. I wouldn't take them to a track but for DD reliability they're outstanding and better than anything your local parts store will try to pawn off. Under sudden stops the PQs will certainly keep you out of the back of someone's pickup. I compared these to O'Reily's "performance pads" for giggles and the difference was almost laughable. In the same amount of time that I toyed with the Posi Quiets and had fun, the supposed performance pads from O'Reilys had given up and faded quickly. I plan to get the stop techs in the spring.

TL:DR They rock, bug Ray about them, buy them for DD.

Yeah this is on another level from anything I can remember driving on in the Bay Area.

I am not going to explore limits on this road. I didn't trigger the stability control or anything. Getting the car somewhere safe where I can really push it is on my to do list.

The beauty of this car is you can have fun even if you're not going that fast.
Even though I take it easy on my daily drive to/from work, I still enjoy every minute of driving this car, even if it is at 6th gear at 30mph. Then when I get to open it up a bit, it's more appreciated.

There are some backroads here that are just as much fun at 5 over the limit as they are at 20, all because of this car. It's too easy to have fun.

Why, because it's too easy to hoon with the S54 and makes it harder to enjoy it at slow speeds as well? lol

The limits of this car are about the same as the ZHP except you can all too easily, get pass them in half the time. LOL. I like some of my stomping grounds where I could floor my ZHP and never worry about loss of traction and death. Now I fear both, midway into apex. Haha.

I have to admit the car had more grip than I was expecting, even with these awful Kumhos (maybe not so awful in this application). Cant wait to wear them out so I can throw on Micehlin PSS and go out with them.

In the peninsula, try Skyline drive and the roads that shoot off of it (84, Page Mill Rd, 9 & 236 and the smaller roads). In the east bay I don't know as well but I remember driving on roads around the Calaveras Reservoir when I was growing up in that area (like Calaveras Road) and having a lot of fun. The North Bay there is a lot of great roads that shoot off of highway 1 heading east as you make your way north.

Know any other roads I should check out?

I live in petaluma. I'm on highway 1 quite often ;)

I like them both Jon, and for different reasons. The interior on the f15 is just amazing to me, love the taillights, love the optional LED headlights. The e70, on the other hand, has more pronounced fender flares, even the non M's, its more squatty and muscular looking and I prefer "smaller" vehicles myself. I don't know the difference in sizes, but the e70 just looks smaller, in a good way. I think an x7 is going to be ridiculously huge waste of mammoth space. But I understand, apparently BMW thinks they'll sell a few.

Kyle and I toured the BMW plant this October (it's a must do if you're ever in Spartanburg, SC), and we got to see the new x5 and x6 production. It was amazing the amount of different options available. The X5 m-sport definitely looks different than the plain x5, but the one picture doesn't look as aggressive as some we saw. I was really amazed at what just adding a couple of different options could do. So in other words, the m-sport can be better looking!

Also, they told us there's plans to add third row seating soon.

Great looking pics everyone. And thanks for the comments on the X. I too still think the E70 is a little more muscular and aggressive looking, which I like, but the F15 is good looking in M-Sport trim.

And Ryan, the E70 had an option for 3rd row seating as well, so that's nothing new. The ///M never got the option, not sure if the F15 X5///M will get the option. I still don't find it necessary.

I can't say that I have never sat in a 3rd row but I haven't done so since watching a bit about the safety for a rear-end collision and 3rd row seating on one of those British car shows (I don't remember which one). It might have been a bit extreme, SUV was stationary or not moving very fast and was rear-ended by a Semi Truck at highway speeds, but they made a good enough of a case for me to never want to sit in one again or own a vehicle with them. I tried to search for the bit on youtube but couldn't find it.

i agree 100%, however when doing some reading about the E70 with 3rd row option, i found that BMW hadn't done a 3rd row in a vehicle until that point because they couldn't find a way to safely do it. apparently the E70 with the 3rd row is structurally very different from the non-3rd row vehicles - enough so that you cannot retrofit a 3rd row seat into one not originally equipped.

as someone whose wife has been pestering him for a 7-seater vehicle (and she likes the E70), i was pleased to find the above info when researching - as i had been defiantly against 3rd-row vehicles (and still am :) ).

Its the sunroof where the water comes in. The rear hatch where the air gets in. Just need that garage ready so I can tackle those projects.

I tried to search for the bit on youtube but couldn't find it.

i agree 100%, however when doing some reading about the E70 with 3rd row option, i found that BMW hadn't done a 3rd row in a vehicle until that point because they couldn't find a way to safely do it. apparently the E70 with the 3rd row is structurally very different from the non-3rd row vehicles - enough so that you cannot retrofit a 3rd row seat into one not originally equipped.

as someone whose wife has been pestering him for a 7-seater vehicle (and she likes the E70), i was pleased to find the above info when researching - as i had been defiantly against 3rd-row vehicles (and still am :) ).

peter

Wow, leave it to BMW to do the right thing, I was not aware of this; thanks for sharing.

THREE DEGREES???? (Sounds like a bad boy band). I think my car has never seen below the 30s. Wow, that's cold.

I believe that photo shows -3, which would also work as a boy band.

how long is your commute? doesn't look that bad.

i remember once, leaving the recording studio around midnight one night after a giant storm. drove 50 miles home on twisty roads through 8" of unplowed snow the entire way with my lowered 2001 audi TT. this was around 2003, in VT. the last plow had gone through a few hours before - 8" in a few hours, to give you an idea of the snow. :)

Lol, yeah it's about 50 miles. It wasn't awful when I got there, but the majority of the way was 70-80% white out. Couldn't see a damn thing.

That's crazy though...gotta hand it to Audi.

Also, Alexandre, what's the deal... is that a permanent set up or a mobile photo radar? If mobile, what kind of setup? Just curious. CA requires front plates so interesting that they took a pic of the car rear. Guess that's more guaranteed to have a plate.

I have a hard time believing both fronts are rusted... or that any are rusted out. It's only a 10 year old car, and the lines looked fine the last time it was on a lift.
