Being lowered and the New England winters have taken a serious beating to my lip spoiler :(
Car's are all dirty from recent storms that have hit us....but I had to show this pic...man is my car lowered here...

Love the shots and the fitment. What sz tires are you running and how'd you manage to go that low in the front and back?

Charlie is running stock sizing (225/40 front, 255/35 rear).
The car appears every so slightly lower in the pics because of the way he was parked. It looks likely undriveable in the pics but in reality it's perfectly fine and still looks amazing.

BP, those CH's are the only aftermarket wheel that i like better than the 135Ms... now, how do i find a set?? :) they look awesome.
here's one from last night - took my daughter into toronto to see a play, and scored a SWEET parking spot!

There was a slight incline where I was parking so part of the car looked slammed when in reality my ZHP is set up so just the top of the tires are tucked inside the fender. Car was set up by my ex's son and funny part is that he wanted to drop my ZHP even lower than it currently is. Botond commented on the drivablity of my car and I'm sure Patrick can also comment as I had both of them in the car when we went to the dealer earlier before taking these pictures. I know not many would lower their BMWs like this but man do they look sick to me.... Even in the messed up roads up here in New England, I will still keep both of my cars lowered because for me it's all about the look ;)

Wow charlie. Can't believe your ZHP is your winter car. I get that it's a visual effect in this case but it's low!!! I already plow the streets in the winter on stock height. Patrick's car looks like an SUV next to yours. :rofl

Thanks Alexandre! Yeah...the Arqray lip takes a beating but then I can always replace it if it get's bad enough (oh, I'll be replacing mine sometime in spring) :) I get lot's of looks and occasional waves from other enthusiasts....I've gone from fast and furious to low and slow on my daily cruises to and from my home...;)

Yeah I hear you, I'm lowering mine a bit more today. Do you rub at all in the front or back? or do you scrape the underbody at all?

Agreed :thumbsup

Awesome....can't wait to see pics after you're done! :thumbsup
Do you rub at all in the front or back?
Only time I will rub and even then its very slight is when I hit a moderate dip on the road at speed and then it's on my rears where I have the rub. Other than that, I rarely rub with my current setup. :)
or do you scrape the underbody at all?
Only when transitioning from the road to a parking area that happens to be lower than the road...sharp inclines tend to cause me to scrape just a little. I will be addressing these areas on my car before the snow obviously. Other than that, no issues. I do tend to come in at an angle rather than going in head on because of how low I am. I don't mind doing that....

Installed the BC Racing coilovers and Swift springs today as well as rear brakes. I need to take the rear down about another 1/4" and I'll be happier. Forgive the pic, it was taken with an old busted HTC One. . .

I've only got about 30 miles on them so far, so it's hard to say. I still need play around with the damping(hoping at least two clicks makes a noticeable difference) I'm 6 away from full stiff F&R to start off with. Tomorrow morning I'm going to play with the rear since I'm not quite happy there. Starting a loooong road trip Sunday, so I'll know a lot more at the end of next week.

Thanks, you know I'm completely digging my gray mirror caps, the initial plan was just to roll with them until I could get them painted black, but I really like them actually. No one has asked me about them so they must not be too obvious/strange/ugly.

That's a sweet pic, John! I've always loved the "get creative" idea of lighting. It challenges you to do something cool when you don't have all the equipment or scenario needed to take an ideal pic. :thumbsup
This is my contribution to the "make do with what you have" theme and used the headlights from my mom's Nissan Sentra to "paint the scene":
https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2887/9706718890_16830eee3d_b.jpg (https://flic.kr/p/fMKtmf)
Not as cool as yours but definitely an attempt. :biggrin
Tonight's pic comes to you right after a cold car wash. 50 degrees is just a little too cold for my taste, but still managed to get'r'done! It's amazing how the paint still manages to look deep despite needing some serious work. I'm also amazed how the 17" Style 68's are the only wheels that I've seen that don't look like 17's but instead look like 18's.

Yeah, looks prettier than my parking spot..
Agree to disagree, sure outside is pretty but there are all kinds of hazards, birds, weather, etc. My car is parked in a garage probably 99% of the time. School, home, work, always in a garage. That might be how I get away with washing her so rarely. I got lucky today, roads were damp but not wet, I drove 2.2 miles from my home garage to my work shop/garage, she's still clean. Woot!

I don't have the luxury of a garage any where. Hell, my parking spot at home is 18" from a dirt path. A corner spot in some shade is about as protected as it gets.

they are good cars, generally very well put-together and very comfortable for most folks. i have owned a bunch.
i am happier with my ZHP than with any audi i've had. that said, the newest audi i've owned is a 2001 (4 of them... 2 x A4, 1 x A6 2.7T, 1 x TT).

Take it from me, dressed up junk for the most part. The 3.0T supercharged motor is good but other than that can't say much. Their RS 5/7 line is a joke, those motors put out nothing. S6, S7 and S8 are great big comfy quick flying pigs. R8 v8 leaves a lot to be desired for the price and the v10 is redic $$$$. I did enjoy the TTRS but other than that and maybe an SQ5 I'll pass (and have cuz my employee lease rates are almost too good to pass up).
They're nice DD cars with some performance characteristics but if you're looking for a performance car that you can daily drive my money is on BMW or Porsche.

Running 235/40/18 up front and 255/40/18 in the rears. I kinda like the meaty set up but they're rubbing on the liner. Would taking the liner out cause any harm?

oh, i agree - that's why i am here. :)
also agree on the TTRS, and my dad has a B7 RS4 that is pretty awesome. too poor in the MPG department for me, and the seats aren't good for me, but otherwise it's actually a really nice car. very un-audi-like in the handling department!

rubbing up front? if so, i would definitely advise against removing the liner, it does keep a lot of dirt off stuff you want to keep clean. :)
you've got quite the rake there! car looks good, would look better in my opinion with the front raised about 15-20mm. love the wheels.

Thanks Peter! I'm only rubbing in the rears but I just feel like the rear tires might be a little big. Worst case scenario I'll swap them with a 245/40/18 and drop it a tad

Ha. I'm in the exact same situation. I'm running in the rear a TINY bit. I think I fixed it: snipped off about 1/4" of part of the liner that was sticking out. Looks like it was damaged previously (probably from running on the tire!)

Yeah, I liked the look of those a little more.
Say I wanted to drop the rear even lower, could I do so if I removed the liner? Fenders are rolled btw and the offset on all four corners is 34

34 is pushing it with the lining in place. Mine are 35 all around on the BBS' and I have modified the lining so it doesn't rub. It only rubs on the hardest/deepest of bumps now but it still does once in a blue moon. It rubbed constantly before the lining was modified.

Lol thanks and I believe you're right :). I'm at White Sands, New Mexico. My base sits next to the monument and right on the test range. That's all hard packed gypsum the car is sitting on. There are some very cool areas for photos out on the range itself but I can't take my personal car oooor a camera out there lol.

It is. They film a lot out here as well. My Fire Dept usually handles the fire protection for the film crews. Iron Man, Transformers 1&2, Thor was filmed here and just north of Carrizozo, just to name a few recent films. I also worked with Nasa out here for while. We handled the Rescue operatrions for their shuttle pilot training on White Sands as well as actual shuttle rescue until the program was shut down.

Oh man, this brings back memories.
I used to work in a place where I had a colleague that would take something you say literally (on purpose) and then use it against you. So, when winter tires came up in discussion one day, I told him "I don't need friggin' AWD..." (he was one of those people who argued AWD/4WD is NECESSARY in the winter) "... I have winter tires. With winter tires, my car is unstoppable in the snow." What does he do? He made it literal, and asked me "So, if you get winter tires, you can't stop?" Ever since then, he jokingly held it over my head for a couple of years saying we should get winter tires so we can't stop in the winter. :rofl

Nope.
The cow one is so clearly a Photoshop. A cow weighs how much exactly? And the front of the car is still at stock ride height? lol
That and the cow isn't casting appropriate shadows for the lighting. Let's not forget that the image of the cow and the car are of two different quality levels.

It's interesting you say that because to me it's exactly the opposite. The E46 actually isn't boxy at all, which is why I'm shocked they kept the rectangular mirrors. The mirrors are the only part of the car I found awkward.
The M3 has the perfect flow for the E46 chassis IMO.

Ha! I guess we'll have to agree to disagree then buddy. I realize the e46 isn't as "boxy" as the e30 or even the e36, but does seem more boxy than the e90 or even the f30. I'd say the sedan seems more boxy than an e46 M3 too, those pulled out fenders give the e46 M3 a much more curvy appearance than our more reserved sedans.
Again, perhaps my feelings would change if I ever saw them on a sedan in person, sometimes interweb pics do not do justice to the small details of their subjects.
Boxy or not I'd love to have a set that folded in/up when the car was locked, function > form in regards to side mirrors.

nice, alex - you got the rack on!
i was in ottawa for a crazy work day yesterday, had some snow on the way home too.. here she is below before the drive, with the 17x8 ET38 M5 reps and 215/50/17 xice3's, and then the drive home after. sorry, iPhone pics.
we didn't get a ton of snow, and it turned to rain as i got into picton. this morning it's basically all gone and it's raining - but we're in a warm pocket here, it's a weird little ecosystem because of it's position in the lake (it's basically an island).
new xice3's performed well - no drama.
