Gents,
I know, another square set up thread! But I did do a few days of homework, so these are my follow up / clarification questions.
I recently got a great deal on a stock set of Style 135 wheels and plan to square things up. I will use the rear 8.5 wheels (ET 50mm offset) and have determine through a few days of reading that most of your who stuck w/ the Style 135s went with either:
235/40/18
245/35/18
I've also read that that these tire sizes will work for a stock suspension set up (mine is still stock) with no rubbing or trimming necessary nor will there be any abnormally large gaps.
One member in one of the threads posted this great info on tire sizes and potential impact on speedometer reading and I'm pasting it here for others:
Rears:
- 245/35-18 tire is about -0.8% for the rear as compared to the stock 255/35-18.
- 235/40-18 tire is about +1.6% for the rear as compared to the stock 255/35-18
- 235/35-18 tire is about -2.0% for the rear as compared to the stock 255/35-18
Fronts:
- 245/35-18 tire is about -1.2% for the front as compared to the stock 225/40-18.
- 235/40-18 tire is about +1.2% for the front as compared to the stock 225/40-18.
- 245/35-18 tire is about -2.4% for the front as compared to the stock 225/40-18.
Questions:
1) Has anyone ran both 235/40/18 and 245/35/18 and liked one over the other? Is this more of a matter of looks?
2) Are spacers needed in the rear? I may be confusing threads and posts, but a few have said that adding a 5mm or 10mm will help with the appearance and make the tires flush w/ the profile of the rear fender. True? And if so, does anyone have a recommendation between either spacer size, spacer brand (link would be awesome), and I imagine longer bolts are needed (size would be great if you had it).
Any other things/decisions need to be considered?
Thanks,
Bob
