Looking to buy an M sport steering wheel with an airbag in good condition but will consider anything for the right price.I will be selling mine soon. It is OEM Alcantara wheel that was recovered in leather. It is less than 1 year old.
I will be selling it because I am moving to SMG wheel.
I just need to find time and remove it. It has been pretty cold in my region lately.

I have a spare OEM alcantara sitting in my closest if you're interested.
I did a SMG wheel switch.
It's in pretty good condition. When in use I would clean it with sonax. Now it's just sitting the closet.

I just bought a used steering wheel with an airbag, how do I check if is included on a recall, as far as I know, the recall was for newer vehicles. Didn't know e46's were included in that recall.

The recall is by VIN. Check this link :

Unfortunately, I don't have the VIN number. I'll contact the seller just in case he has it.

Does your car has the recall done ? If yes, you could use that airbag on your new steering wheel (assuming they are compatible).

Well, I'm upgrading the steering wheel on my son's 325i and I ran the VIN and it doesn't have any recalls. However, the current steering wheel is the old square ugly one.

This is the message I got from the seller so it looks like it was replaced at some point.

Yes, correct e46 did have air bag recall on takata brand inflator. This air bag inflator is marked trw with date code 22 16 so either the air bag inflator was replaced under recall most likely or the inflator was replaced at one point in it's life. I part units out and have no relationship to the vehicle I do not have vin but I have air bag inflator part number I can give you last six 800580
