SoCal ZHP meet?

Hey folks!

Some of you may have followed a few posts of mine talking about a SoCal meet. I wanted to start a thread and get a general consensus to see if anyone would be interested. The meet could be held at my work (Escondido, CA) or at any other location if the group decides it's better to meet else where. I bring up my work because it's private, has kitchen/bathroom and a decent size parking lot.

If anyone would like to chime in, please do. Would love to start getting ideas and information together so we can make this happen sooner than later!

Hieu and I meet at my place in Manhattan Beach. I have his old lift and a long driveway so it's easy to work on cars. Saturdays are usually good.

It's usually just me and JR for the most part. Maybe we should do a DIY meet, where we just help JR do his manual swap lol That will give us something to do lol

There is. But we just can't get them all together lol Me and JR, we just do our own thing for the most part. I'm in OC. I just drive to MB to JRs house to do work. Used to be the other direction, but we moved the lift.

Rather than create a new thread I thought I'd add to this one. For anyone who doesn't know, I'm moving to the SF Bay Area in October and will be driving from Toronto. My current schedule puts me arriving in LA on Oct. 5th, staying a full day to sightsee, and departing early the morning of the 7th.

As these dates are Tuesday - Thursday, its understandably hard to meet on a weekday. But I thought I'd throw it out there in case you guys can meet up (maybe quite a few of you are still WFH then :rofl)

But, would be up for a drive out to LA. Want to make the highway 74 drive from palm desert up thru to LA.

I would be driving out from AZ.

From the looks of it, I may have already missed the meet. But I have some time here coming up in march, around the 16-20th of march.

Kind of an SOS but my alternator died. No tools no parts. If anyone has a spare alternator with a circular connector as known working or in the corner. Please please PM me

Me too…me too. As awful as it was, I just sucked it up against my odds and fixed it in under 12 hours. I did about 6 push starts. The DME dies at around 6.8v for those curious, and the cluster will freeze at about 9.3v :)

battery may have been a little sacrificial. I was less than a mile from my place too.

Upon investigation, it seems the weekend where we swapped everything from my old car, one of us didn’t nut down the terminal to the back of the alternator. It’s heavily corroded, likely from the heat generated from moving so much power through a thin connected (not clamped down) and eventually had too thin of a contact patch. This is likely why it failed and also why I suspect it’s still good. I digress, definitely a stressful bit
