Hey,
So I was looking for a little more functionality than the factory nav provides so I picked up a 9" Xtrons unit.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Octa-Core-9-Android-9-0-Head-Unit-DAB-Car-Radio-4G-GPS-for-BMW-E46-M3-318-325/193240560164?hash=item2cfe08f224:g:QBQAAOSwl9xeJVc O

I had factory Nav w/HK & bluetooth, so I pulled that out ran the exl007 and antenna extension to the trunk and installed the Xtrons.
Everything was straight forward however I've had sound quality issues ever since.
There is a low constant static sound that gets louder when I touch the screen or if the unit is working; ie launching an app etc.
Xtrons recommended a power filter, it didn't help...

The FM reception is worse than oem and as bad as AM was before it is now non-existant.

And just recently the radio app won't launch when I have my iphone connected for carplay.

I really like the design and features but if the sound quality is bad, it's all for nought...
Has anyone with factory sat/nav found a contemporary replacement with clean audio?

Hmm I don't have factory nav but recall having some similar issues with one of my installs. I can't remember if it was an antenna grounding out or what. Have you tried going through and pulling each connection on the back to see which one is causing the feedback?

Yeah even tried using the short harness and hooking it up in the trunk bypassing the extension. The noise is definitely coming from the unit. It's quite frustrating. I'm on the verge of just putting the oem back in.

I replaced my factory NAV w an old Dynavin, no issues.

Oh, thanks that's the second Dynavin recommendation I've received. I'll look into their offerings.
