View Full Version : Inside door side plastic piece clips

That cool ZHP carbon fiber design plastic panel can still get clipped in, but only the right two clips are still legit. The one on far left is broken, and to make matters worse, maybe from the Florida heat, the plastic panel has bent up and away from the door a bit so even if I fixed this, that pressure would cause problems again.

So

1. Do they sell replacement clips just for this part?
2. Is there a safe way to bend back the plastic piece, maybe with the help of a heat gun? https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200714/af956567f7c8582b180cb2196aff25a0.jpg

are you talking about the white pieces? yes they have replacements.
what bending are you talking about? I can't tell from the picture

FYI those clips can be removed by sticking a large screwdriver into them, turning 90 degrees, and pulling straight out. Easiest to swing by a parts yard and fill your pockets with them.

It's weird that realoem doesn't show that part used on the coupe.

isn't that a sedan? I don't have that trim on my convertible either

Coupes and verts have cube trim on the armrests, unlike sedans which have individual pieces on the door cards.

OP has a sedan. I have a coupe & looked up the part for reference/fun = no application.

Meaning even with new clips, there'll be constant pressure away from the door causing possible detachment again.

Should I risk using a heat gun or some other temperature related technique to fix this, or will the replacement clip be strong enough to overcome this ....https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200715/6eb34c0d58e678f363797c032a634718.jpg

You might try a small section of Strip-Calk to bridge the gap between the trim & door panel. It will fill any void & stick it in place.

You can try to slightly bend it back. Sometimes the act of removing the trim will bend it.

Aesthetically won't look horrible because the gap would be basically hidden from passenger view... And it's not like a glue which will help hold the piece closer to the door right?

Just don't want to deal with extra gunk unless it serves a real purpose that I may be neglecting.

It's sticky (yet easy to remove) & will fill a gap - only reason I mentioned it. Can't see the issue you're dealing with from here!

You bet. This other part may come handy, it's for the orange clips: 51-45-8-266-814.

I'll probably pass on that, I have OCD about sticky and greasy stuff unless absolutely needed, but good to know! [emoji106]

Works to hold the rain gutter trim on by the Hofmeister kink, too!

i feel like the replacement clips might be strong enough. But I would just bend it back if it looks like it won't work. I would probably just weigh it down with something and leave it in the sun and let it flatten out on it's own lol Less work for me.

Hopefully rain doesn't hurt it, seems pretty much all plastic
