06/15/20 Update:
As of right now, I am not taking any orders at least till November of this year. I do not have an access to the printer due to my long trip. I am not sure what is the future on my end to accept any order going forward. The post will be updated in November for sure.

Hey Friends,

I would like to offer some 3D printed parts for the members and make a contribution to the great forum.

Full disclosure.

I am not a professional additive manufacturing specialist and I am not an automotive engineer. I am doing it in my spare time as a hobby. With that said, if you want to get any of those 3D printed parts from the list, please note that you are getting them at your own risk. Neither me or zhpmafia.com are responsible for any safety related issues, including injuries or property damage.
Warranty: I am providing a 1 year warranty for all parts for any mechanical failures.
I am not trying to make any money for printing parts, I just want to cover some cost for material and my time for printing, prepping and shipping these parts.

How to buy
Reply in this thread and state what you are interested in obtaining.
Please send me a PM with the shipping zip code, so I can estimate the shipping.
I will follow up with the shipping and provide a lead time.
Payment options: Paypall or Venmo. My Paypal - zvezdoff@yahoo.com. Venmo - Sergey-Zvezdov. For Paypall, please cover the fee if you are not using “friends/family” option.

Below is the list of parts that I can offer.

1. M3 mirror motor adapters. Available in stock - 4.
This part is needed if you want to retrofit M3 mirrors. You will get two sets, so you will have one to install and one as a backup. There are 3 melted brass inserts with an M3 threaded hole. I have them installed on my car and I do not have any issues in therms of fitment, alignment or functionality.
Cost - $15 for one set + shipping.

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200630/61f8a481da8bc746643da3041f93ee50.jpg

2. Jack pad adapter for Harbor Freight hydraulic jack (item 62326). Available in stock - 4.
This adapter will work with a 3 ton low profile jack that has a 3.5” pad. I think there are other models that have a smaller pad.
I have been using this part for almost 2 years and there are zero concerns. I designed the part such that it has many 100 um packed layers of plastic to make sure it will not be compressed by the weight of the car. I used it 50+ times on my cars doing maintenance and plastic is not compressed or deformed at all.
Cost - $10 + shipping

Parts that are in development:
3. Gruppe M intake support bracket.
4. ZHPMafia custom licence plate frame
5. Cup holder that will be mounted on the door card.

All parts were designed and printed by me. I am using Onyx as the filament for the printer. Here is more information if you are curious about its properties: https://markforged.com/materials/onyx/ This material is great and I have easily printed 30 parts on various household items.
I am happy to answer all the questions.
Thank you for the interest.

Here's an idea for the license plate frame. Depending on the material used to print, you can acetone vapour smoothen (https://rigid.ink/blogs/news/acetone-vapor-smoothing) it which eliminates 90-95% of the ridges created by the layers from FDM printing. That way it'll be nearly as smooth as injection-molded mass-produced plate frames sold on the market.

Pretty nice stuff, man. What printer do you have and what design software do you use? I have an inexpensive Creality Ender3 that I have been learning the basics of printing with. I haven't found it in my budget or designing need to shell out the money for some of the high dollar 3D modeling software yet, but I am curious as to what you are using.

That's what I have too. Honestly it works perfectly fine. I did upgrade it with ezabl. best mod ever, totally worth it lol

But you don't need any crazy expensive CAD. I think most people learn with TinkerCAD which is free. I went with Fusion 360, it was free for students. Now I think you get a year. But it's enough for you to just do stuff and figure out how to design shit. Mostly mechanical parts though. It has trouble for curvy stuff, you can do it, but it's just harder. I have experience with Solidworks from like 10 years ago, and I swear Fusion 360 is backwards in how it does some shit. But it's plenty good enough to do a lot of the stuff you would need. Then you got Blender, which is free, for stuff like organic models and curvy stuff. FreeCAD as well, which I think is harder to use than Fusion.

Start with TinkerCAD and make the jack pad. It shouldn't take you too long lol

I love Solidworks, it's by far my most adept CAD software. I don't have a 3D printer but if I do get one, will still be using Solidworks to design my parts. I love it so much that I may or may not have a copy on my computer obtained through other means...

Yeah I was thinking of doing the same. But since I was doing some commercial work, I didn't want to pay for the license lol I'm not making that much lol Fusion was like $500/year. They just had a sale for like 50% off. That I can cover lol

I have been using TinkerCAD for a bit and have quite a few designs with them. I drew up a cup holder for my E30 on there. Did you have tk do a lot of mods to your Ender3 to use the onyx filament?

Sent from my Pixel 3 using TapatalkThank you. I have an access to Mark Two printer that is made by Markforged. It I very nice and what is cool that filament can be reinforced with carbon fiber, kevlar or fiberglass. I do not own it, but have very frequent access.
As for the software I am using Solidworks simple because I have it installed on my work laptop. I know Fuson 360 is good and there using be a free 1 year trial if I am not mistaken.

I used ProE 8 years ago for a very short period of time and that is why I do not have any opinion about it.

Well I haven't used Onyx specifically (Not OP). But for other similar CF filament . You pretty much only got to do a hardened nozzle as the minimum since it's abrasive. I upgraded a lot of stuff because I plan to do a lot of other filaments in which the temp is way higher than what the stock components can handle. But to start out, really you don't need to upgrade anything. Especially, if you didn't get a warped bed like I did. If you want a strong filament that is pretty heat resistant as well for the car, you can use PETG. It doesn't require any upgrades on the printer.

You are not alone on the warped bed, man. That is one of the most common complaints with the Ender 3.

Yeah mine was pretty bad. I actually took it out and bent it back some lol but I still couldn't fix a corner. I was only printing using half my bed for awhile until I was like screw this. Get EZABL and done :rofl That was the best mod imo. I hated leveling the bed and doing the paper thing. With a warped bed it just takes forever. Now I pretty much don't even touch it, just turn it on and print.

"e46SULEV," on e46fanatics developed a replacement CCV cap and diaphragm for the m56 valve cover (for those who performed the conversion). It looks like he's sold out of the caps and doesn't look to be producing more, but have made the CAD file and associated 3D printing files available.

https://www.e46fanatics.com/threads/m56-reproduction-ccv-cap-and-diaphragm-11127521080-01.1266795/

I bought one of the caps and they're really high quality in materials and fit and finish.

Edit:
Post #50 has the CAD file,

Discussion Starter • #50 • 18 d ago
I have sold all my caps! Thanks to everyone who ordered from me both here and on Ebay. Since I have recouped my investment in this project, I will release the CAD files here so that anyone else who needs a cap can make their own. You can try 3D printing it yourself if you have a really nice printer (not sure if PLA or ABS will hold up to engine temps though), or you can send an order to Stratasys Direct Manufacturing (same company I used to make the caps).

If you need a diaphragm, I have plenty of those left! You can either send me an order through this form (instructions in first post of this thread) or buy from Ebay: M56 Reproduction CCV Diaphragm (11127521080-01) | eBay

I have attached a file called CAD.txt. This is actually a .zip file so once you download it just change the file extension. Then extract. There are three CAD files: two .STL files and one .IPT file. The .IPT is the source CAD which can be viewed and edited in Autodesk Inventor. The .STL files can be sent directly to a 3D printer. One has the BMW and part number text, and the other does not.

To order from Stratasys, start here: Order 3D Printed Parts Online | 3D Print On Demand | Stratasys Direct

Then create an account and sign in.

Click "Start a new Quote".

Upload the STL file. (Use the STL without the text. It's too small to be properly printed, and if you send them the file with the text they will tell you so!)

Make sure to select mm units.

Once the part is uploaded, use the following settings:
Technology: Multi Jet Fusion
Material: Nylon 12 PA Black
Resolution: MJF Standard
Material Color: Black
Hand Finish: None
Surface Treatment: Wet/Dry Blast Only

Price is $85 at the time of writing not including shipping

Click "Proceed to Checkout": at the very bottom of the webpage.

Complete the order. Then you are done!

How about the interior trim orange pieces or the silver pins?

Sent from my SM-G988U using TapatalkThe silver pins would be difficult because of the threads and making in as smooth as the originals. I could probably find a way around that though. The orange clips have little metal pieces in them to grab the silver pins. Not sure how I would work around that.

Hi ZHP Crew,

I hope that everybody is safe and have a chance to enjoy the summer.

My apologies for a long silence. I have been on vacation for two weeks and life/work balance was causing some delays. I am back with updated first post. With a big thanks to website moderators, I am ready to take orders and start shipping the parts. There were many of you that expressed the interested and set me PM. I will respond to them once again and will be treating it on the first come first serve bases.
Please read the updated first post and once again thank you for the interest.

love to know more about the adapter plates for M3 mirrors. i made my own as well but not with the brass inserts. i took a picture with my phone of the inside area of the M3 mirror internal bracket and used photoshop to make hard outlines and used tinkercad to make a file. getting the holes just perfectly oriented was a pain because i found that just being even .5 to 1 degree off would cause the glass to be terrible off center.

love your implementation and glad someone finally got their base plates up and ready for sale. i was always bugged to get them out and i never had anymore time to work on them.

put me down for a set of yours as well because i love the brass inserts on them.

Those are heat-set inserts (https://www.mcmaster.com/heat-set-inserts) you actually install with a soldering iron - hold the tip on the insert and it locally softens the plastic, allowing you to push it in. It's a godsend with having fasteners in 3D printed parts.

If yours are plastic, as long as your holes aren't too big then you may be able to still install the inserts into your existing plates

I shoud of updated this thread before I took off for my road trip.
