View Full Version : Replacment Alcantara Steering Wheel
The alcantara on my steering wheel (newly purchased 2004 vert) is trashed. I'd like to replace it with an original in good shape. Option would be to have it wrapped by Coby Wheel, but my preference would be an origianal wheel.
I'd appreciate any leads. I realize I just missed a couple that were posted here recently. My bad for not having known about this site and reviewing it regularly.
Thanks in advance,

My best advice is that you should go the Coby route. I think you're going to have a hard time finding a good, original alcantara wheel, since they wear like crap for the most part, at least at a reasonable price. Coby, or a similar service, really is your best bet, and actually is a fantastic value and will likely be cheaper than an OE wheel all the while getting brand new, non-worn alcantara vs used, less-than-perfect alcantara.
But, if you feel the need for an original, eBay is one place to look. Warning: they are very expensive, and most that I can find are either brand new (over $1k) or are re-wraps.

+1 on the rewrap. Even if you found an OE in pristine condition that material is 15+ years old and will wear much quicker than a rewrap with fresh Alcantara.
Thanks, guys. I hadn't even considered that a used oem alcantara wheel would be that old (like my ride) even though appearing to be in good condition. Although I'd prefer to stay "original", also considering a leather wrapped wheel from one of the guys in Lithuania for better wear and less upkeep. Any recommendations for a source for one of these?

eBay is a good place to look for leather rewraps. They're a dime a dozen on there.
I highly recommend the seller "Tainik". He does fantastic work. The wheel I put in my ZHP is from him.
Mine is a full Nappa leather wheel. I think paid about $400 for it.

Note: the wheel comes without trim or airbag. You'll have to transfer those from your existing wheel.
Thanks! Nice workmanship on that wheel. I'll look him up as a seller on eBay and will check out what he's got.
Thanks again.
