Replacing vintage 2005 ZHP Nav Unit

Hey all - long time no visit -

Our Z is still running strong. However, I've finally had enough of the pixels going out on the OEM Nav unit in my '05 Coupe.

What are people doing these days? Retail for a new screen that I'd have to install would be around $200 - at least if shipped within the US. Kind of seems like a bad investment.

Are people still opting for Dynavin? Am seeing a lot more alternatives online but unsure if they're designed for the single DIN version or the old Nav unit that I have.

Not that concerned about the reverse cam - wouldn't mind having the option but would like to get the unit up and running without having to do a bunch of wiring under the carpets and whatnot...

Eonon, Avin, Dynavin (but last I heard their Nav still didn't announce street names).

I was able to source a new navi display that had a perfect display for $300 so I chose to keep my setup stock. Like Rando said above if you're looking to completely change out your Navi display you could go with the options he put out but be advised that you will also have to order a Quadlock 6M Navigation Extension Cable and an optional GPS Antenna Extension Cable to make the connection from your BM53 radio unit which is in your trunk.

I tried going this route several years ago when I had my first ZHP and with an Eonon unit and the extension cable did not work. Hopefully if you go this route using either an Eonon, Dynavin, or Avin you won't run into this issue.

Just an FYI , I had no issues with my cable, that should not be an issue in general. Bummer yours was.

My experiences with Eonon was soured as a result and I will never buy a Eonon product again... I have heard good things from Avin products so I might revisit going the aftermarket headunit route with an Avin product... Botond has one and it looks really nice.

Rando got my dynavin a while back. I wasn’t a huge fan of their tech but it’s been a minute. I always liked my eonon, never failed me but yes you can’t expect amazing Amazon level customer service with these companies from overseas and 1-2 guys in some office in Van Nuys California importing them from their uncle in Hong Kong... ya know?
