Anyone else have a stubborn first gear?

It doesn’t slot in nearly as nice as all the other gears; I’m assuming my synchro is unhappy. Is there a way (like a kit or something) to fix the first gear syncro? Reverse is also a bit stubborn.

Alternatively I could put some liqui-moly additive in the gearbox.

[edit]

It looks like the ZHP came with the ZF S6-37 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZF_S6-37_transmission) transmission. Searching yields some rebuild kits, but they’re not specific to this transmission, and I only need the 1st gear synchro, maybe the 2nd gear, and maybe reverse.

If your synchro was bad, it would be grinding.

Change your transmission fluid. Redline D4 ATF is known to help with smoother gear engagement especially in cold weather.

I changed it only ~50k miles ago, and I think I used Redline D4 ATF.
I’m thinking putting in some of this stuff (https://www.amazon.com/Liqui-Moly-MoS2-Anti-Friction-Gears-Pack/dp/B01KKPESUW/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=liqui+moly+manual+transmission&qid=1569184049&sr=8-2)
